The Homematic IP Window and Door Contact is part of the Homematic IP Smart-Home-System and reliably monitors doors and windows. Instead of the usual magnetic contacts, this innovative sensor uses a sophisticated optical sensor. This eliminates the need for an additional magnet, reducing the installation effort. The built-in infrared light barrier monitors the door or window and detects whether it is open or closed. In the Homematic IP system, the small sensor performs several tasks. Firstly, it regulates the heating supply downwards when ventilating by informing the Homematic IP radiator thermostat as soon as a window or external door is opened. A particularly practical feature is the ability to define a reporting delay for frequently used doors to avoid constant opening and closing of the radiator valves. Secondly, the sensor reliably monitors access to your own four walls when you are away. With the alarm mode activated, the Homematic IP siren can be activated in the event of unauthorized window opening. A warning message is also sent to the user via the app in the form of a push notification. This gives them the opportunity to react to the dangerous situation promptly. The small, 30-gram sensor works so effectively that it operates on the energy of an AAA battery for around two years. When the battery capacity is low, the Homematic IP app will notify you. The low weight of the sensor allows for reliable attachment using double-sided adhesive tape. This is supplied along with a brown cover cap and a reflector film.
