Replacing Old R910 and R915 with New Modules
Version 5.01.003
April 19th, 2023
Preface
This document explains the procedure for replacing older R910 and R915 readers with the recently released R910 and R915 models, featuring new ECO X158 hardware and firmware V5.01.003. ACM12 modules with firmware older than V4.70 may not recognize the new R910 and R915 readers. The following actions and procedures are required to ensure proper functionality.
Upgrading Procedure
The best practice for replacing an old R910 or R915 with a new one is to upgrade the ACM12 firmware to the latest version (V4.75.002 and up). Paradox recommends full system firmware upgrades (panel and modules) for the best experience when installers are on-site.
If an ACM12 firmware upgrade is not possible due to logistical issues, follow this procedure:
- After removing the existing R910 or R915, and before connecting the new one, reset the ACM12 to factory default values. This can be done using section 4001 in the keypad programming.
- Power cycle the ACM12.
- Wait for the ACM12 to synchronize all user programming from the panel. This process takes approximately one minute, during which the RX/TX LEDs will be lit solid.
- Re-program the ACM12.
Following these steps will ensure that the ACM12 recognizes the new R910 or R915 readers and operates correctly.
