Introduction

The Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini is a compact home device that transforms a standard electrical wall outlet into a controllable, customizable, and multi-functional outlet. It allows users to easily control lights and household electronic devices via the Kasa Smart app on iOS or Android devices, from anywhere.

Key Features:

  • Control from Anywhere: Manages plugged-in electronics remotely using the Kasa Smart app.
  • Compact Design: Allows two plugs to be stacked in a single wall outlet.
  • No Hub Required: Connects directly to your home's Wi-Fi network without needing a hub or extra equipment.
  • Home Automation: Enables setting multiple schedules, creating scenes and groups, and simulating occupancy with 'Away Mode'.

  • Humidifier: ≤260 W
  • Iron: ≤1500 W
  • Toaster: ≤850 W
  • Tower Fan: ≤50 W

Appearance

The Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini features a control button to turn connected devices ON/OFF and an LED indicator to show the current status. The HS103 (US version) is used for demonstration in this guide.

Control Button Actions:

  • Press: Turns the socket ON or OFF.
  • Press and hold (5 seconds): Initiates the app configuring process (SoftAP) until the LED flashes amber and blue alternately.
  • Press and hold (10 seconds): Factory resets the Smart Plug Mini until the LED flashes amber rapidly.

LED Status Indicators:

  • Flashing amber and blue: App configuring process (SoftAP) initiated.
  • Flashing blue rapidly: Connecting to the network.
  • Solid blue: Connected to the network.
  • Flashing amber rapidly: Factory reset.
  • Solid amber: Initializing, rebooting, or no network connection.
  • Off: The Smart Plug Mini is switched OFF.

Set Up Your Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini

Follow these steps to set up your smart plug using the Kasa Smart app:

  1. Install Kasa Smart app: Get the Kasa Smart app from Google Play or the Apple App Store, or scan the [QR Code for App Download] to download it.
  2. Log in or sign up with TP-Link ID: Open the Kasa Smart app and log in with your TP-Link ID. Create an account if you don't have one.
  3. Add Device: Tap the [Add Icon] button in the Kasa Smart app, select Add a Device > Smart Plugs > Smart Plug Lite / Mini, and follow the step-by-step app instructions to complete the setup.

Main Device Controls

After successfully setting up your smart plug, the Kasa Smart app's home page will display it. You can view and manage all added devices here. Tap a smart plug to control and manage it.

The app interface includes a Home Page showing your devices and a Device Status page for individual device controls.

Configure Your Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini

Set Schedule

You can set schedules for your smart plug to turn on/off automatically, simplifying your daily routine.

  1. Tap the [Schedule Icon] on the Device Status Page.
  2. Tap the [+] icon and select the time and frequency for your smart plug to turn on or off automatically.
  3. You can also choose to turn your plug on or off at [Sunrise Icon] or [Sunset Icon], based on your location.

Set Away Mode

Set Away Mode for your smart plug to turn on/off automatically at random intervals while you are away, creating the appearance that someone is home.

  1. Tap the [Away Icon] on the Device Status page.
  2. Set the time period during which your smart plug will turn on/off automatically and select the repeating frequency.

Set Timer

Set a countdown timer, and your smart plug will automatically turn on/off after the time ends.

  1. Tap the [Timer Icon] on the Device Status page.
  2. Set the time period after which your smart plug will turn on or off automatically.

Check Usage

You can view and track the energy consumption of your smart plug.

  1. Tap the [Runtime Icon] on the Device Status page.
  2. Check the runtime of your smart plug, including current, total, and average usage over different periods (Today, Past 7 Days, Past 30 Days).

Change Device Settings

You can change the device name and check device information in Device Settings.

  1. Tap the [Settings Icon] on the Device Status page.
  2. You can view Device Info and change the name of your smart plug. You can also remove the device from this section.

Create Scenes

A scene is a preset group of smart devices that can be programmed, customized, and activated simultaneously with a single tap from your smartphone or tablet. This allows you to easily set your mood, activity, or fit any special occasion. This page helps you preset how your smart home devices should act automatically at special occasions.

Scene Examples:

  • Good Morning: Get ready for the day by turning on your devices.
  • Good Night: Turn everything off before bedtime.
  • Movie Night: Dim the lights for showtime.
  • Custom: Create your own scene.

Discover Kasa

Use the Kasa Smart app to pair your smart Wi-Fi plug with Amazon Alexa, Google Home Assistant, and enjoy a hands-free experience. Kasa also helps manage other smart home devices, working with Samsung SmartThings to trigger changes when you arrive home or leave for the day.

Launch the Kasa Smart app and navigate to Add Device > WORKS WITH KASA > Amazon Alexa / Google Assistant / Samsung SmartThings for detailed instructions.
