ALLPOWERS AP-SP-020 Portable Solar Suitcase
Model: AP-SP-020
User Manual
Thank you for purchasing the ALLPOWERS portable solar suitcase. This product generates solar energy to power your mobile electric gears and charge batteries. It can combine a solar controller, an inverter, or batteries together. This portable solar suitcase provides an excellent choice for applications that require lightweight, flexible, durable, and silent power.
Solar panels are recyclable, and even after 5 years, their power can still achieve more than 80%, different from chemistry ones which have a limited life cycle due to the lamination of battery material itself. The flexible design allows you to simply place it on the ground or mount it to any rollable shelter/tent/roof of vehicles.
General Safety Information
- Read all the instructions and cautions in the manual before using the unit.
- There are no serviceable parts for the built-in assembly or to attempt to repair the controller.
- Make sure all connections are going into and from each time.
Battery Safety
- Use only sealed lead-acid, flooded, gel or lithium-ion deep cycle batteries.
- Explosive battery gases may be present while charging. Ensure enough ventilation to release the gases.
- Be careful when working with large lead-acid batteries; use proper protection and have fresh water available in case of battery acid contact.

How to Recharge Your USB/DC-Powered Appliances
- Unfold this suitcase and expose the panel to the place where it can get the most possible sunlight.
- Angle the solar panel towards sunlight in vertical direction so that it can harvest the most possible sun energy.
- Use the cable provided to make proper cable connection between your gears and our solar suitcase. Check your device to see whether it shows up a charging sign or not, otherwise, re-plug your device or replace cable.
- It will automatically deliver its possible and suitable current to your devices and stop the charging once the battery is full, by the built-in advance system controller.
Tips:
- Please settle your devices to a cool place for better heat dissipation when charging.
- Turn off your laptop to save the power consumption from the screen of laptop and you can shorten the charging time. You may also need to prepare an extra charging adapter for your laptop, make sure it has a DC5521 female end, if in doubts, please email us for any help. (Note: DC18V outputs are not compatible for devices equipped with PD charging standards.)
In the emergency case that we meet a starting problem, we can charge your 12V battery directly with the alligator clip cable then to restart your vehicles. (Recommend charging time 2-3 hours only, for longer charging, we should pair with a solar regulator. If there is no regulation the batteries will be damaged from overcharging. Most batteries need around 14 to 14.5 volts to get fully charged.)

How to Recharge Your AC-Powered Appliances
- A PWM 10-20A solar controller must be placed between the solar panel and your battery.
- The inverter must wire on your battery directly, do not go towards solar charger.
How to Chain Multiple Solar Suitcases Together
If you prefer, you can have no more than 4 suitcases chained together, the currents are additive when suitcases are connected directly in parallel.
Diagram Description: A diagram showing two DC5525 solar controllers connected to a DC5521 solar suitcase. The controllers are linked to the suitcase, indicating a parallel connection for increased power output.
Steps:
- Using the DC5525 to DC5521 extension cable AWG#18 for chaining, plug the connector(DC5525) into the 18V port (See picture).
- The other male connector (DC5521) will go towards the parallel port on the other solar controller box.
- The remaining 18V output will deliver total output current for powering laptops, generators or other 18V DC-powered devices. (Note: Only for 18V outputs, the output from USB ports won't change.)
Frequently Asked Questions
- Q. Can the kit charge two or more 12V batteries connected in parallel?
- A. Yes, it's possible if the batteries have the same type and capacity and are wired in parallel (Positive to Positive, Negative to Negative).
- Q. Is there any risk that the solar kit will over charge my battery?
- A. No. One of the functions of the PWM solar charge controller (not included) is to ensure that your battery is not over charged; therefore there is no risk of overcharge.
- Q. Can I extend the DC charging cable included?
- A. Yes, it's possible – please choose the same size of cable(AWG#22) for extension. However, the longer the extension, the greater the line loss. Bigger gauge will be required for longer runs.
- Q. Do I need to clean the solar panels?
- A. Yes, it is recommended for better performance. Dust and dirt should first be swept off the panel surface using a soft brush. When the sweeping is complete, use a wet cloth to wipe the panel surface to remove remaining dirt and grime.
- Q. Can rain damage the solar kit?
- A. It is rain-resistant, but this solar case is mainly for emergency purpose, in case of short-circuit due to damp or bad weather, we do not recommend a long-term outdoor exposure, otherwise, it may shorten its lifespan.
