Installation Safety

  • Use two or more people to move and install the refrigerator.
  • Protect the floor when moving the refrigerator.
  • Keep flammable materials and vapors, such as gasoline, away from the refrigerator.
  • Connect only to a grounded, dedicated 115-volt, 60 Hz, AC outlet.
  • Do not use extension cords or multi-outlet adapters.
  • Do not install in a damp or dusty location.
  • Ensure the power cord is not damaged or pinched.

Operation Safety

  • This refrigerator is intended for household use only.
  • Do not allow children to play on or inside the refrigerator.
  • Keep fingers away from pinch points between doors and cabinets.
  • Do not touch frozen food or metal parts in the freezer compartment with wet hands.
  • Do not refreeze thawed food.
  • If a gas leak occurs, ensure the area is ventilated and contact an authorized service center.

Maintenance and Disposal

Installation

General Installation

  • Remove all packing materials, tape, and residue.
  • Ensure the refrigerator is placed on a solid, level floor to avoid noise and vibration. Adjust leveling feet as needed.
  • Avoid installing on carpets or soft tiles.

Location Selection

  • Electrical: Use a dedicated, grounded 115V, 60Hz, 15A minimum outlet.
  • Environment: Install in an area where the temperature is between 55°F (13°C) and 110°F (43°C). Avoid direct sunlight or heat-generating appliances.
  • Clearances: Allow adequate space at the rear (at least 2 inches / 50 mm) for ventilation and connections, and sufficient space in front for doors to open fully.

Door Reversal and Leveling

Door reversal is available on some models and should be performed by an authorized technician. Adjust the front leveling feet to ensure the refrigerator is stable and doors close properly.

Powering On

  • Connect the power cord to a grounded outlet.
  • Ensure the outlet and circuit are properly grounded.

Operation

Before Use

Checklist:

  • Clean the refrigerator thoroughly.
  • Open doors and shelves to ventilate the interior.
  • Connect to power.
  • Allow the refrigerator to cool before loading food. This may take up to 24 hours.

Control Panel Functions:

  • Freezer: Adjusts freezer temperature (0°F to 5°F / -18°C to -15°C).
  • Refrigerator: Adjusts refrigerator temperature (34°F to 45°F / 1°C to 7°C).
  • Express Freeze: Increases ice production and freezing capacity.
  • Express Cool: Quickly cools a large amount of fresh food.
  • Vacation Mode: Reduces energy consumption when away for extended periods.

Sabbath Mode

Available on some models, used for Jewish Sabbath and holidays. Activates by pressing specific buttons simultaneously. Disables alarms.

Food Storage Tips

  • Store food in airtight, moisture-proof materials.
  • Butter/Margarine: Store in a covered dish.
  • Cheese: Store in original packaging, then rewrap tightly.
  • Milk: Store in original cartons on an interior shelf.
  • Eggs: Store in original carton on an interior shelf, not the door.
  • Fruits: Wash and peel only when ready to use. Store in crisper drawers or paper bags.
  • Leafy Vegetables: Remove damaged parts, wash, and store in plastic bags in the crisper drawer.
  • Vegetables with Skin: Store in plastic bags in the crisper drawer.
  • Fish/Seafood: Freeze if not consumed the same day.
  • Leftovers: Cover tightly with plastic wrap or foil, or store in sealed containers.
  • Freezing: Do not overload the freezer. Allow 24 hours for cooling. Leave space for air circulation.
  • Packaging: Use airtight containers, plastic wrap, foil, or freezer bags. Avoid wax paper or thin wraps.

Allows communication with the appliance via smartphone. Download from Google Play or App Store.

Smart Diagnosis™

Provides information to diagnose and resolve product issues. Follow on-screen instructions in the app. For audible diagnosis, open the refrigerator door, press Vacation, hold phone near the speaker, press and hold Freezer for three seconds, then listen for tones. Keep phone steady until transmission is complete.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • General: Clean interior and exterior monthly. Unplug before cleaning. Remove shelves. Use a soft cloth and mild detergent in warm water.
  • Exterior: For stainless steel, use glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth, wiping with the grain. For standard stainless steel, use a damp microfiber cloth, dry with paper towel. For tough stains, use a few drops of dish soap in water.
  • Interior Walls: Allow freezer to warm up. Clean with a baking soda and water solution (2 tbsp baking soda per 1 quart water) to remove odors.
  • Door Seals/Gaskets: Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
  • Plastic Parts: Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid glass cleaners, abrasives, or flammable liquids.
  • Condenser Coils: Clean with a vacuum cleaner brush attachment. Do not remove the cover.

Cooling Issues

  • Not Cooling/No Power: Check if control is set to ON. Check if in Demo Mode (disables cooling). Allow up to 24 hours for cooling after recent installation or relocation.
  • System Running Excessively: Normal if recently connected or after adding large amounts of food. Ensure doors are closed properly. Check for proper location (avoid hot areas). Ensure condenser coils are not obstructed.
  • Food Freezing in Refrigerator: Check if temperature is set too low or if installed in a cold environment (below 55°F/13°C). Rearrange items away from vents.
  • Excessive Interior Humidity/Frost: Ensure doors are closed properly. Avoid frequent door openings. Check for condensation due to humid climate. Ensure food is properly packaged.
  • Refrigerator/Freezer Too Hot: Rearrange items to ensure proper airflow. Allow time after defrost cycle.

Ice Issues

  • Insufficient Ice: Ensure doors are closed properly. Check freezer temperature setting (should be 0°F). Allow up to 24 hours for ice production after installation.
  • Ice Taste/Odor: Check for proper food packaging. Clean interior and ice bin.

Door Issues

  • Doors Not Closing: Ensure no food items are blocking the doors. Check if doors were reassembled correctly after installation. Ensure refrigerator is properly leveled. Check if door seals are clean and sticky; clean and apply a thin layer of appliance wax. Allow time for air pressure to equalize after closing.

Other Issues

  • Lights Not Working: LED lighting may require a qualified technician for maintenance.
  • Unusual Odor: Adjust air filter to MAX or replace. Clean interior.
  • Noises: Clicking may be from defrost timer or thermostat. Rattling can be from refrigerant flow, water lines, or items stored on/around the unit. Humming, knocking, gurgling, and vibration are often normal operating sounds.

Limited Warranty (U.S.A.)

This limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. It is valid for the original purchaser and products purchased and used in the U.S.A.

Warranty Period

  • Product: 1 year parts and labor.
  • Sealed System (Condenser, etc.): 5 years parts and labor.
  • Compressor: 5 years parts and labor (6-10 years for linear/inverter compressor parts only).
