Get to know the plug and DIP Switch
The BLADE 185 supports PPM, SBUS, and DSM RC input. Use DIP Switch "A" to select the RC INPUT format.
RC Input Setup (PPM/SBUS/SPEKSAT Receiver)
PPM Configuration:
To set up PPM input, set DIP Switch A as follows:
- Receiver Mode: Select "RX_PPM" for PPM RX input.
Serial-based Receiver Setup (SPEKSAT, SBUS, SUMD):
To set up serial-based receivers, configure DIP Switch A and software settings:
- Receiver Mode: Select "RX_SERIAL" for serial-based receiver input.
- Identifier RX: Select the appropriate receiver type (e.g., SPEKTRUM1024, SPEKTRUM2048, SBUS, SUMD).
- Serial Receiver Provider: Enable Serial RX for the corresponding UART (e.g., UART1, UART2).
*Note: Steps 2, 3, and 4 require setup in the Cleanflight Configurator. Select "Spektrum1024", "Spektrum2048", or "SBUS" in Step 4, depending on your receiver.
TX58200 Transmitter Frequency Selection
The BLADE 185 has an internal 40ch TX58200 wireless video transmitter. Use DIP Switch "B" to choose the frequency.
Install mushroom antenna
Install the mushroom antenna to the mounting brackets as shown. Please install the mushroom antenna of the transmitter before powering on.
Attention before flight
- The BLADE 185 mini-quad is recommended for pilots aged 14 years or older with RC hobby experience.
- Fly the BLADE 185 only in dry weather with low wind. Avoid flying in rain or heavy foggy conditions.
- Always choose large open fields for flying. Check local laws and ordinances for legal flying areas.
- Maintain at least 10 feet distance from the aircraft when armed to avoid injury from high-speed propellers. Always disarm the aircraft before handling it.
- Do not fly near high-voltage power lines, cellphone towers, or radio towers, as these may disrupt your control signal.
- ALWAYS check local laws before flying. NEVER fly over crowds, concerts, or sports stadiums.
Charge the Battery
- First, insert the LiPo battery balance plug into the B3 Compact charger.
- Connect the power cable to a wall outlet. The B3 Compact charger accepts voltage from 110V to 240V.
- When correctly powered, the charger LED will flash orange.
- During charging, the LED will be solid RED. When charging is completed, the charger will display a solid GREEN LED.
Attention:
- (1) If the Red LED light flashes, there may be an issue with the charger or battery. Stop charging immediately.
- (2) This charger is ONLY for charging 2S and 3S batteries. NEVER attempt to charge more than ONE battery at any time, as the charger may get damaged or catch fire.
- (3) During charging, place the charger in a dry, ventilated area, away from heat sources and flammable or explosive substances.
- (4) Always allow the battery to cool down for at least 10 minutes before charging. Overheated batteries may swell or catch fire while charging.
- (5) DO NOT charge a damaged battery. If the battery has cuts, swelling, or bends, do NOT charge it.
Prepare the BLADE 185
Install propeller
- Fix the 4045R propeller (Clockwise) onto motors M1 and M4 (CW motors) using the Red propeller adapter.
- Fix the 4045 propeller (Counterclockwise) onto motors M2 and M3 (CCW motors) using the Black propeller adapter.
- Tighten the Red propeller adapter counterclockwise and the Black propeller adapter clockwise.
- Tighten the propeller adapter manually and ensure the propeller is installed correctly and securely.
Attention: Install propellers by hand, holding the motor with the included wrench for tightening. The wrench can also be used to remove broken props after a crash.
Battery installation
- First, place the battery anti-slip mat into the battery compartment.
- Position the battery on top and adjust it forward or backward as needed for perfect balance. Ensure it does not interfere with other equipment, then secure the battery firmly with the velcro strap.
Ready for flight
Attention:
- (1) Place the aircraft in a wide open space with the rear facing you (known as "TAIL IN" position).
- (2) Set the SWB switch to position 2. If using a different remote controller, set the flight model to stabilize. Place all trims and dials in the middle position, move the throttle to the lowest position, then turn on the Remote Controller.
- (3) Video receiving equipment (e.g., FPV monitor with 5.8G wireless video receiver, goggles) is required to display the image and OSD information.
- (4) The BLADE 185 mini-quad features a low-voltage alarm beeper. The OSD provides visual feedback on remaining battery power, flight time, altitude, attitude, speed, coordinates, and direction. When the voltage drops below 10.5 volts, the beeper will sound an alarm. The BLADE 185 mini-quad is designed for FPV racing and does not have an "automatic landing mode".
WARNING: Land the aircraft immediately if you hear the beeper alarm or see the OSD indicating 10.5 volts.
Binding of the BLADE 185
- Turn on the Remote Controller.
- Place the aircraft on a horizontal surface and connect the aircraft power. The LEFT red LED will turn on. Ensure positive and negative connections are correct.
Motor Unlock/Lock
Motor Unlock
- After binding the Remote controller to the BLADE 185, ensure all trims are neutral and the throttle stick is fully down (displaying 0% throttle).
- Gently push the throttle stick down and move the rudder (YAW) stick to the right side, holding for more than 2 seconds (on MODE 2 radios, throttle and rudder are on the same stick).
- The two LEDs will remain blue, and a long "B" sound from the buzzer indicates the motors are unlocked.
- Be cautious at this point, as pushing the throttle up will start the motors. You can test by gently pushing the stick up; the motors should start.
Motor Lock
- Lock the motors by moving the throttle stick all the way down and the rudder (YAW) stick all the way to the left.
- The two LEDs will remain green, and a "B~B" sound from the buzzer indicates the motors are disarmed (locked).
- TEST: Push the throttle stick up slightly; the motors will not start when locked.
- NOTICE: The motors are LOCKED by default after successful binding.
Proximity FPV obstacle flying
Proximity FPV obstacle flying is best suited for experienced pilots, as high-speed obstacle avoidance requires advanced skills.
- Recommended FPV range is 300m, depending on the environment.
- Avoid flying over people, animals, crowds, concerts, or sports stadiums. Avoid flying close to power lines and cellphone towers, as these can cause crashes.
End flight
- Land the aircraft and disarm (lock) it.
- First, power off the aircraft by unplugging the battery, then turn off the radio.
- Finally, remove the battery from the aircraft.
