Naming Devices

You should give each device a unique name to easily identify it when viewing devices on the Fusion PartyBus network.

Note: For further customization, you can give each stereo zone a unique name and disable unused sources. For more information, refer to the stereo system's user manual.

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Settings.
  2. Select the device to rename.
  3. Select the device name, then select an option:
    • Select a predefined name from the list.
    • Select Custom Name, then enter a unique name for the device.

Setting Primary Zone

The primary zone is the speaker zone that the remote's rotary dial adjusts by default when you rotate it. The primary zone can be assigned to any speaker zone on a compatible stereo system on the Fusion PartyBus network. When you set the primary zone on the remote, the remote is associated with that stereo system for default playback control.

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Settings.
  2. Select the name of this remote.
  3. Select Assign Primary Zone.
  4. Select the zone.

Selecting Source

  1. Select Back button [⬅️].
  2. Turn the dial to highlight a source.

Note: If the device is part of a group, continue turning the dial to access sources from other devices in the group (Fusion PartyBus Network, page 6). If a source cannot be shared with the group, it will appear grayed out, and you will not be able to select it.

  1. Press the dial to select the source.

Adjusting Backlight Brightness

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Brightness.
  2. Adjust the brightness level.

Note: You can only adjust the backlight brightness of this remote. To adjust the brightness of other remotes or stereo systems on the network, you must adjust the settings directly from each remote or stereo system.

Adjusting Volume

With this remote, you can control the volume of any zone on any stereo system connected to the Fusion PartyBus network.

  1. Turn the dial to adjust the volume of the primary zone on the stereo system.

  1. Press and hold the dial to select Mute System. All connected stereos will be muted.
  2. Press and hold the dial to select Unmute System. All connected stereos will resume playback.

Adjusting Subwoofer Volume

You can adjust the subwoofer volume for each zone.

  1. Press the dial button, then select a zone connected to a subwoofer.
  2. Press and hold the dial. The Subwoofer Level adjustment dial will appear for that zone.
  3. Adjust the subwoofer and press the dial to set.

Maintaining Individual Zone Volume Levels

If you adjust individual zone volume levels so that some zones have higher volumes than others, the volume settings for the individual zones will be affected when you adjust the volume for the All Zones. By default, if you set the All Zones volume to 00, this will set all zone volumes to 00 and reset all individual zone volume settings. You can enable the Maintain Volume Ratio option so that individual zone volumes are retained when All Zones volume is set to 00.

Note: This setting only applies to volume adjustments made on the stereo system or the ERX400 remote. If you adjust the stereo system volume using a connected chartplotter or NRX remote, the volume levels will still be reset.

Tip: For best results when this option is enabled, set the power-on volume limit for the primary zone stereo system to 24. For more information, refer to the stereo system's user manual.

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Settings.
  2. Select the name of the remote.
  3. Select Maintain Volume Ratio.

Turning Off Network Devices

You can turn off this remote and the primary zone stereo system, or turn off all devices connected to the network.

  1. Press and hold the Power button [].
  2. Select an option:
    • Select Turn Off: %1 to turn off this remote and its assigned primary zone stereo system.
    • Select Turn Off All to turn off all devices connected to the network.

Fusion PartyBus Network

The Fusion PartyBus network feature allows you to connect multiple compatible stereo systems using a combination of wired and wireless connections. Note: When connecting Fusion stereo systems to a Garmin BlueNet™ network or Garmin® Marine Network, only Garmin and Fusion devices can be used. You may not be able to use third-party routers, storage devices, or other network products directly with these stereo systems.

Tip: After connecting stereo systems to a Garmin BlueNet network or Garmin Marine Network, you can connect a mobile device to the wireless access point on the connected Garmin chartplotter and use the Fusion Audio app to control the stereo systems.

You can group one compatible stereo system (e.g., Apollo RA670 stereo system) with other compatible stereo systems connected to the Fusion PartyBus network. Grouped stereo systems can share available audio sources and control media playback on all stereo systems within the group, creating a synchronized audio experience across the vessel. You can quickly create, edit, and split groups using any compatible stereo system or remote on the network as needed.

You can use compatible stereo systems and remotes (whether grouped or not) to adjust the volume of available speaker zones on any stereo system on the network.

When building a Fusion PartyBus network, refer to the installation instructions provided with the remote.

Creating a Group

Before creating a group, you must connect multiple compatible stereo systems to the Fusion PartyBus network. For information on installing and configuring the network, refer to the installation instructions provided with the stereo systems.

Note: There are some limitations and considerations when using stereo systems within a group. For more information, see Grouped Stereo Source Considerations, page 7.

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Groups.
  2. Tip: You can press and hold the Back button [⬅️] from any screen to open the Groups menu.
  3. Select the name of the stereo system you want to be the primary stereo system in the group.
  4. Select the stereo systems you want to add to the group.
  5. Select Done.

From the source screen, you can select sources from any stereo system in the group (other than a stereo system zone), such as the Apollo SRX400 stereo system, or on the Fusion PartyBus network.

Editing a Group

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Groups.
  2. Select the group.
  3. Select the stereo systems you want to add or remove from the group.
  4. Select Done.

Leaving a Group

You can leave a Fusion PartyBus group to play local sources on the stereo system.

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Groups.
  2. Select the group you want to leave.
  3. Select the stereo systems you want to remove from the group.
  4. Select Done.

Grouped Stereo Functionality

Once a group of stereo systems is created, other features and options are available for all stereo systems in the group.

Grouped Stereo Source Considerations

You should follow these considerations when selecting sources to play on the network.

Note: If a stereo system is part of a group, you cannot change its settings. You must remove the stereo system from the group to change any settings.

Group Sync

By default, when you turn off stereo systems in a group, the groups you created are not retained. If you turn off individual stereo systems that were added to a group, those stereo systems will leave the group. If you turn off the primary stereo system in a group, the group will be disbanded. You can enable the Group Sync feature to retain the group membership of stereo systems after they are turned off. The behavior of Group Sync differs depending on how you turn stereo systems on and off.

Enabling Group Sync

Before enabling Group Sync, you must remove stereo systems from any existing groups. If a stereo system is part of a group, you cannot update the settings.

You must enable this setting for each stereo system for which you want to retain group settings after a power cycle.

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Settings.
  2. Select the name of the stereo system.
  3. Select Power Options > Group Sync.

The stereo system will retain its group settings after a power cycle.

  1. Repeat as needed for additional stereo systems. Note: You must enable Group Sync on all stereo systems connected to the network for the sync feature to work correctly.

General Settings

Select Menu button [☰], select the remote's name, then select Settings.

Note: If you select the name of the stereo system you are currently controlling before selecting Settings, you can adjust the stereo system's settings instead of the remote's settings.

If the stereo system is part of a group, you cannot change the stereo system's settings.

The following settings apply only to the remote. For information on specific stereo system settings, refer to the stereo system's user manual.

Update Options

Select Menu button [☰], then select Device Name, Settings > Update.

Network Settings

Note: If a Garmin chartplotter is detected on the network, the stereo system will automatically switch to Garmin Marine Network mode, and all other network settings will be disabled.

Select Source button [▶️] > Settings, then select the remote's name, then select Network.

Setting Device as DHCP Client

By default, this device is set as a DHCP client. When set as a DHCP client, the device is configured to operate on a network with a DHCP server. If there is no DHCP server on the network, the device assigns itself a local IP address after a short delay.

Note: Although Fusion PartyBus devices can communicate with each other without a DHCP server on the network, it is highly recommended to have a properly configured DHCP server on the network for optimal performance, especially when first powering on the devices.

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Settings.
  2. Select the name of this device.
  3. Select Network > DHCP Client > Save.

Setting Static IP Address

If the stereo system is configured as a static IP, it is automatically assigned the IP address 192.168.0.1. You can change this IP address.

If the stereo system is a DHCP client on the network, and you do not want the DHCP server to automatically assign an IP address to the stereo system, you can set a static IP address.

Note: Every device on the network must have a unique IP address. If you select a static IP address that is the same as another IP address on the network, the device will not function correctly.

  1. Select Menu button [☰] > Settings.
  2. Select the name of the remote.
  3. Select Network > Static IP.
  4. Select an option:
    • To set the IP address, select IP, then enter the IP address.
    • To set the subnet mask, select Mask [%1], then enter the subnet mask. Note: The subnet mask must match all other devices on the network for it to function correctly. A typical subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
    • To set the default gateway IP address, select Gateway, then enter the gateway IP address. Note: The default gateway is typically set to the IP address of the DHCP server on the network.
  5. Select Save.
