Precautions Before Use

Batteries

Low batteries and bad battery connections are the primary cause of scale malfunction and inaccuracy. Use good quality batteries and replace them often. If the scale won't turn on, check battery connections.

Battery Installation

  1. Press and lift open the battery cover located at the bottom of the unit.
  2. Insert the batteries, making sure the polarity is correct (+) and (-).
  3. Close the battery cover until it clicks shut.

Operation Instructions

Weighing Procedures

  1. Press the ON/OFF / TARE button to turn on the scale. Wait until "0" is displayed.
  2. Press [UNIT] to select a weighing unit (g, dwt, oz, ozt, 1/4 oz, 1/8 oz).
  3. Verify the reading is "0". Place objects on the weighing platform to weigh. When the reading becomes stable, the stable indicator is displayed.

Tare Function

The Tare function can be used to eliminate the weight value of an empty container. Place an empty container on the scale and press ON/OFF / TARE. Then place the items to be weighed in the container. When all weight is removed from the weighing tray, the tared value of a container will be displayed as a negative number. Press ON/OFF / TARE again to return the scale to zero.

Calibration

Calibration may be required when the scale is first set up, moved to a different altitude, or new location, or due to mechanical deviations. You will need an accurate 500g weight or combination of weights.

  1. Press ON/OFF / TARE to turn on the power. The display will show "Hi" and then "---------".
  2. Press [UNIT] while "---------" is visible. The display will show "CAL" followed by an A/D value. Press [UNIT] again to show the required calibration weight.
  3. Place the correct calibration weight on the platform. The display stops flashing once the calibration process is complete.

Scale Features

Auto-Off / Backlight Setting

An auto shut-off feature is provided to conserve battery power. The scale will automatically turn off after 2 minutes of inactivity. To turn off/on the auto-off and backlight:

  1. Press and hold [UNIT] and power on the scale with ON/OFF / TARE, then release both keys.
  2. The display will show A_ON (Auto off enabled) or A_OFF (Auto-Off disabled). Press [UNIT] to toggle and ON/OFF / TARE to confirm.
  3. The display will show L_ON (backlight enabled) or L_OFF (backlight disabled). Press [UNIT] to toggle.
  4. Press and hold ON/OFF / TARE for 3 seconds to confirm your settings and turn off the scale.
