General Warnings

⚠️ IMPORTANT Cycling involves risks. You assume responsibility for potential risks and injuries. Know and practice safety regulations. Proper use and maintenance reduce injury risk. Check local electric bike laws (e.g., minimum age).

Riders need physical condition, reaction time, and mental capability for traffic and road conditions. Respect E-bike laws. If you have an impairment, consult your physician before riding.

? NOTICE Only perform tasks you understand. Pay special attention to general operating rules.

Wet Weather & Riding at Night

Wet Weather

⚠️ IMPORTANT Do not ride in wet weather. The Super73 is not for puddles, heavy rain, or streams. Never immerse the product in water, as it can damage the electrical system. Exercise extra care in wet conditions; feet/hands can slip, leading to injury. Brake earlier as stopping distance increases. Decrease speed. Wear reflective clothing and use safety lights. Road hazards are harder to see.

Riding at Night

⚠️ IMPORTANT Be safe! It is recommended not to ride at night. Ensure your Super73 has clean, correctly positioned reflectors. Use a functional lighting set (white front, red rear). Wear reflective/light-colored clothing. Slow down and use familiar roads with street lighting.

For Parents and Guardians

⚠️ IMPORTANT Parents/guardians are responsible for child's activities and safety. The Super73 is not designed for use by children under 16. Obey local regulations and always wear a helmet.

Safety

Review these safety notes for safe operation. Failure to do so can lead to serious injury or death.

Maintenance Schedule

? DANGER! Intensive use can damage the frame and fork. Inspect for cracks, as a broken frame/fork can cause accidents and injury (refer to Intended Use, pg. 8).

To prolong bike life, follow this maintenance schedule:

1. Before and After Each Ride:

2. Every Month:

3. Every Six Months:

? TIP If maintenance procedures are beyond your skill set, consult an E-bike specialist or professional cycle mechanic.

Washing and Caring for Your Bike:

Dirt, salt, and elements can damage your bike. Clean regularly and protect against corrosion. Use clear water and mild soap for grease. Do not spray water directly; use a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly and treat surfaces with a care product. Wipe all parts with a clean, soft cloth.

⚠️ IMPORTANT Do not use high-pressure water jets or steam jets, as water can enter bearings, diluting lubricants and increasing friction, leading to bearing surface deterioration.

Maintenance & Components

? DANGER! Before working on electronics, turn off the system and remove the battery. Involuntary activation risks injury.

Tires / Wheels

The S1 uses 20" x 4.25" tires with inner tubes and rim liners. Tire size is 20" x 4.25" or 20" x 4" for front and rear. Tires are designed for durability and safety. Check tires before each use for inflation and condition.

Proper inflation, maintenance, and timely replacement ensure optimal performance and safety.

Inflate tires to 18-25 psi (1.24-1.72 bar) using a Schrader valve pump. Check tires and rims for damage. Minimal wheel nut torque is 25ft/lb (33.89 N m).

Maintain proper tire pressure to avoid loss of control or tire bursts. Failure to maintain pressure can lead to tire/wheel failure.

Inflate from a regulated air source with a manometer. Unregulated sources can over-inflate tires. Replace worn or damaged tires/tubes promptly to prevent injury or damage.

⚠️ IMPORTANT Correct wheel alignment reduces tire wear. If a tire wears unevenly, have a professional mechanic check alignment.

Chain Tension

There should be about half an inch of chain movement up and down midway between sprockets. To adjust tension, loosen axle nuts, move the wheel forward/backward, and retighten bolts.

Helmets / Reflectors

Wear an ANSI, SNELL, or CE approved bicycle helmet at all times. Ensure it fits properly and covers the forehead. Comply with local laws regarding safety devices.

Reflectors are integral safety devices required by federal regulations (front, rear, wheel, pedal). They reflect street and car lights to make you visible. Check reflectors and brackets regularly for cleanliness, straightness, and secure mounting.

Brakes

⚠️ IMPORTANT Brakes are crucial and must be maintained, adjusted, and replaced. If unsure, consult an E-bike specialist or professional cycle mechanic.

Hydraulic brake lines need maintenance on pads, rotors, and lines. Check rotor/pad contact after pad replacement.

Super73 bikes use Tektro hydraulic disc brakes for optimal performance. See adjustment videos at www.Super73.com/pages/owners or Tektro manuals at www.tektro.com.

Brake orientation: Rear brake = right lever, Front brake = left lever.

Brake Models: tektro.com/products.php?p=242

Brake pads: tektro.com/products.php?p=226

Pad wear is compensated automatically. Check pad/disc alignment and ensure the wheel is fully pushed back for proper function and reduced noise.

Avoid contaminating pads and discs with grease. Check cables, ducts, harnesses, and pad wear. Use only "resin" pads with discs marked "Resin"; do not use metal pads.

Adjust brake levers for ergonomics and safety. Contact Super73 with questions.

New Brake Pad & Rotor Bed-in Process

When replacing pads or rotors, proper bedding is essential for performance. Accelerate to 20mph, then brake to a near stop. Repeat 8-10 times to ensure even pad wear and remove contamination.

Replacing the Pads:

  1. Pads and holders are secured by a 3mm retainer bolt. Unscrew the bolt and gently push out pads/holder. An Allen wrench may help.
  2. Once free, pads can be removed from the holder.

Battery

⚠️ IMPORTANT The battery is the most critical component. Follow these rules to optimize its life:

? DANGER! Do not open the battery. Risk of short circuit and warranty void. Protect against mechanical damage, heat, fire, and water immersion. Risk of explosion. Keep children away.

? TIP Follow charging instructions on pg. 12. Use only the original or manufacturer-approved charger. Disconnect charger when complete.

Range

Maximum range depends on battery age, terrain, incline, rider weight, speed, temperature, riding style, pedaling, and tire pressure.

Range in Cold Weather:

Conditions Affecting Battery Range:

Tips for Maximizing Range:

? DANGER! Never charge the battery in a flammable environment. Place charger and battery on a dry, non-flammable surface.

? DANGER! Never charge or use a defective battery. Do not mail batteries; they are hazardous goods requiring certification. Improper mailing is punishable by law.

If damage to the electrical system is noticed, immediately remove the battery and contact Super73 or an E-bike specialist. Lack of expertise can cause injury.

Lighting System

The S1 lighting system is wired into the main harness. For replacement, disconnect front and rear light cables. Ensure lights are clean before riding. Clean dusty/dirty lights with a damp cloth.

Seat

The Super73 seat height is fixed and cannot be adjusted. Minimum seat clamping torque is 6.78 Nm (5 lb/ft). For cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, which can damage the fabric. Avoid clothing that could puncture or tear the seat.

⚠️ IMPORTANT The bike is subject to wear and tear. Materials react differently to wear. If a part's intended life is exceeded, it may fail suddenly, posing a danger. Cracks, streaks, or color changes indicate wear and require immediate replacement with genuine, specified parts.
