Important Safeguards
Your safety and the safety of others are very important. Read all safety messages and obey them when operating this appliance. Serious injury or even death may result if you do not follow these instructions.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, follow these basic precautions:
- Use two or more people to move and install this appliance.
- Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet. Do not remove the grounding prong or use a 3/2 adapter.
- For free-standing installation, allow at least 5 inches (127mm) of space between the back, top, and sides of the unit. For recessed or built-in installation (units with "UC" in the model number), leave an air gap of at least 1 inch (25.4 mm) on each side and top, and 2 inches (51mm) at the rear.
- Avoid plugging into outlets controlled by wall switches.
- Disconnect power before servicing.
- After service, replace all parts and panels before operating.
- Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable items in the area, as fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
- Use nonflammable cleaners.
- Never unplug by pulling the power cord. Grip the plug firmly and pull straight out.
- Be careful not to roll over or damage the cord when moving the appliance.
- Do not pinch, knot, or bend the power cord.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
- Unplug the appliance before making repairs or cleaning.
- Repairs or adjustments should be done only by a qualified technician. Do not attempt to remove the control panel, as this could result in electric shock.
- This appliance is not meant to exceed 140°F (60°C). Do not raise the set temperature to increase heating rate. Allow several hours for contents to reach desired temperature.
- Be aware that the contents' temperature may be higher than the displayed temperature. Always check the temperature of heated blankets and towels before using.
DANGER: Risk of child entrapment!
Junked or abandoned appliances are still dangerous. Before discarding any appliance:
- Remove the door.
- Leave shelves in place so children cannot climb inside.
Installation
Before Using the Warming Cabinet
- Remove exterior and interior packaging.
- Ensure shelves are installed and tape holding them has been removed.
- Level the appliance with the adjustable legs.
- Ensure the circuit breaker on the control panel is in the OFF position.
- Clean interior surfaces with lukewarm water and a soft cloth. Any plastic odor will dissipate during operation.
Installing the Appliance
- For free-standing installation, allow at least 5 inches (127mm) of space at the back, top, and sides. For recessed/built-in (units with "UC"), allow at least 1" (25.4 mm) on sides/top and 2" (51mm) at the rear.
- Place on a floor strong enough to support the fully loaded appliance. Ensure it is level by adjusting front legs.
- Leave at least 2 inches of space between the back of the unit and the wall for air circulation.
- Plug into a 120V AC 60Hz electrical source. Fuse or circuit breaker should be rated for 15 amperes.
- The unit is designed for stable environments with ideal ambient temperature at 72°F or less. Extreme temperatures may cause improper performance.
- Avoid locating in moist areas.
- The appliance has a three-prong plug and is grounded to eliminate electrical hazards. Use a grounded electrical outlet.
- A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risks of entanglement or tripping. Extension cords may be used with caution if they meet specifications:
- Electrical rating must be at least as great as the appliance's rating.
- If grounded, the extension cord must be a 3-wire grounding type.
- Arrange the cord so it does not drape where it can be tripped over, snagged, or pulled.
Reversing the Door Swing (Only applicable to the PTH65G Series)
The door can be hinged on either side. Refer to disassembly diagrams (not included here) and follow these steps:
- Lay the warming cabinet on its back on a soft surface.
- Remove screws holding the bottom hinge and remove the hinge.
- Slide the door down, removing the door pin from the upper hinge.
- Set the door aside.
- Remove screws holding the upper hinge to the cabinet.
- Remove hinge covers from the opposite side.
- Move the upper hinge to the opposite side and tighten with screws.
- Replace the door pin on the opposite side of the door and slide it into the upper hinge.
- Align the door with the cabinet and attach the lower hinge to the cabinet and door.
- If the door is not hanging straight, loosen the top hinge, adjust the door, and retighten screws.
Installing the Door Handle
The stainless-steel door handle is not required for operation. To install:
- Gently pull away the door gasket where the handle will be installed. No tools are needed.
- Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the two pre-installed decorative plugs from the back of the door. Save them for future use.
- Insert the two Phillips head handle screws through the gasket side of the door frame until they pass through the frame.
- Align the handle with the screws. Tighten screws with a Phillips head screwdriver until the handle is flush and securely against the door frame. Do not over-tighten.
- Replace the door gasket to its original position.
Operation
This appliance heats towels and blankets to up to 140°F. Heating from 72°F ambient to 140°F can take 25 minutes to 3 hours, depending on contents. Ensure at least 1" of space between items and walls for air circulation.
Loading the Warming Cabinet
Place items in the cabinet and close the door. Items may be stacked, but ensure adequate space for air circulation. Ensure the door is closed securely.
CAUTION: DO NOT store blankets on the bottom shelf. They will block the heating module and affect performance.
Turning on the Warming Cabinet
Switch the circuit breaker on the control panel to RESET. The temperature controller will light up and display the cabinet temperature. The fan motor will start. The heating element turns on (indicated by a red light) and cycles on/off. The temperature will rise to the factory setting of 120°F (from 72°F ambient).
The LED display shows the cabinet temperature. When the cabinet reaches 120°F, the heating element turns off (red light goes out). It turns on again when the temperature drops by 2-3°F. This continues until intentionally turned off or:
- An internal or external factor causes current to exceed 15 amperes, tripping the circuit breaker.
- When operating correctly, the cabinet maintains temperatures within two degrees of its set point (factory-set at 120°F).
Turning off the Warming Cabinet
To turn off, switch the circuit breaker on the control panel to OFF.
Reducing the Set Point Temperature
The operating temperature is factory-set to 120°F, but can be reduced:
- Press and release the SET button; the display temperature will flash.
- Press the UP or DOWN arrow to reach the desired temperature (Set Point).
The factory temperature range is 90°F to 140°F.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning
- Unplug the appliance and remove all contents.
- Wash the interior liner with a solution of warm water and baking soda (2 tbsp per quart). Rinse and wipe. Do not use soaps, detergents, scouring powder, or spray cleaners on the liner, as they may cause odors.
- Wash shelves in a mild detergent solution and dry with a soft cloth.
- Wipe the exterior surface with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water, then dry with a soft cloth. Appliance spray cleaner may be used for the exterior only.
- Use lukewarm soapy water only to clean the door gasket.
- Never use acids, chemical thinners, gasoline, benzene, or similar substances for cleaning. Boiling water and benzene may deform or damage plastic parts.
Extended Downtime
If the appliance will not be used for several months, empty it, unplug it, and clean/dry the interior thoroughly. To prevent odors and mold, leave the door slightly open, blocking it if necessary.
Moving Your Appliance
- Secure or tape down all loose items inside.
- Tape the door shut.
- Keep the appliance upright during transport. Protect the exterior with a blanket or similar item.
Energy-Saving Tips
- For proper air circulation, leave space around walls and the fan when loading.
- Add or remove items as needed at one time, and close the door as soon as possible.
Preventive Maintenance
Twice a year, place a thermometer near the fan inlet to check temperature accuracy. The actual temperature should be within +/- 3 Fahrenheit degrees of the set temperature.
