  1. Remove override key cover with a small screwdriver.
  2. Insert override key and turn left (or right for some versions) to unlock safe.
  3. Pull drawer open using the handle located at the bottom of the keypad.
  4. Remove override access key and store it in a safe place away from the safe. Replace the cover over the key lock and proceed to “Install Batteries”.

Figure 1 illustrates removing the override key cover with a small screwdriver. Figure 2 shows the override key being inserted into the lock and turned.

Install Batteries

For your convenience, 4 “AA” batteries are included to power the electronic locking system. These batteries must be installed before using your safe. The battery compartment is located inside the safe on the lock cover panel.

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover on the inside door.
  2. Insert 4 “AA” batteries, ensuring they are installed in the correct direction, with regard to polarity (+ and -).
  3. Replace the battery cover.
  4. Proceed to the “Locking Safe” section on the next page.

  2. Immediately after entering the code, press the “LOCK” key.
  3. Lock bolts should extend into the locked position.
  4. The LED will display “CLOSED” for 3 seconds, followed by the active code entered as a reminder.

If a wrong code is entered 3 times in a row, the digital keypad will begin a five-minute lockout period. During this period, the LED will display “HOL805”, and the keypad will become disabled. Once the lockout period has expired, the safe can be unlocked using the active code.

NOTE: You may use the Override Access Key to open the safe, but the keypad will complete the full lockout period.

An illustration shows the LED display showing “HOL805”.

Replacing Batteries

You may check the battery power at any time by pressing the “LOCK” key just once. The LED display will show one of the following messages:

“HI-68C”: Battery power is good.

“LO-6AC”: Battery power is low and batteries should be replaced.

Figures 1 and 2 show the LED display messages “HI-68C” and “LO-6AC” respectively.

Weak or dead batteries should be replaced immediately, and all 4 batteries should be changed. It is NOT RECOMMENDED to use non-alkaline or rechargeable batteries. Remember to always remove the batteries from the safe if not using it for an extended period of time.

NOTE: The active code will not be erased if the batteries become weak or are removed.

Care and Maintenance

When properly maintained, your safe will continue to operate for many years. In order to ensure optimum performance of your safe, please follow these simple precautions:

  • CLEAN HANDS - Never attempt to operate the digital keypad if your hands have excessive dirt, debris, or liquids on them.
  • CLEAN SAFE – To clean the surface of your safe, it is recommended that you use a mild cleaner (e.g., window cleaner) to avoid scratching or discoloring the surface. Always wipe dry and NEVER use abrasive cleansers on the safe or digital keypad.
  • MOISTURE – It is recommended that you place delicate items such as pictures or intricate jewelry into an air-tight container before storing them in your safe. Avoid placing your safe in areas of high humidity.

For optimum performance, the safe should be opened and aired out for at least 20 minutes every two weeks.

For future reference, store this Operation and Installation Guide in a secure area away from the safe. DO NOT DISCARD!

Anchoring Your Safe

For extra security, you may want to permanently secure your safe to the floor. Pre-drilled holes for this purpose are located on the bottom of the safe. While it is not extremely difficult to mount the safe, it is important that you have the proper tools and knowledge to do so. If not, then you might choose to utilize the services of a professional.

  1. Unlock the safe and pull the drawer out until it stops. On each of the drawer glides, there is a small plastic latch. To remove the drawer, you need to simultaneously push down on the left side latch while pulling up on the right side latch, putting forward pressure on the drawer as you do. This will release the drawer from the drawer glides and allow the drawer to be removed.

IMPORTANT: To avoid tipping when the safe drawer is pulled out, it is recommended that the safe be mounted before use.

  1. Select a suitable and convenient location.
  2. If the safe is being mounted to a wood floor, then it can be secured using at least two or more of the bottom pre-drilled holes. Lag screws and washers should be used to secure in place.
  3. If the safe is being mounted to a concrete slab, then after determining placement, mark the hole positions and set the safe aside. A mortar bit will be required to drill holes into the concrete, and masonry anchors used to secure in place.
  4. Once the safe is properly mounted, replace the drawer by positioning it back onto the drawer slides and closing.

It is important to note that if, prior to installation, you have any questions and/or concerns regarding the proper securing of the safe to a wall or floor, you should check with your local home center / hardware retailer or independent contractor. The securing of the safe to a wall or floor is at the consumer's expense and discretion. LHLP, Inc. is not responsible for any costs incurred if the unit is damaged and needs to be replaced.
