*Bluetooth Indicator: Changes color or blinks to show Bluetooth status or pairing.

*HOLD/POWER Switch: Slide and hold to POWER to turn on/off. Slide and hold for 8 seconds to restart.

*Built-in Antenna: Do not cover with hand when using the remote to avoid interference.

*Note: The recorder has no built-in speakers.

*BACK/HOME Button: Press once for the previous screen, press and hold for the HOME menu.

*VOL +/- Button: Has tactile markers on the '+' side.

Getting Started

Charging the Recorder

Connect the recorder to a powered computer using the supplied USB cable. Charging begins. The battery indicator will show a full symbol when complete. Safely disconnect the recorder after charging.

Powering On/Off

  • To turn on: Slide the HOLD/POWER switch to POWER and hold until the display appears.
  • To turn off: Slide the HOLD/POWER switch to POWER and hold until "Power Off" is displayed.

Recording

You can start recording from the recorder or the remote commander. Ensure the HOLD function is off before recording. Aim the recorder's built-in microphones towards the sound source. Press the REC button; the operation indicator will turn red. Press the STOP button to end recording. The recorder will save the file.

Playback

The recorder has no built-in speaker. Connect stereo earphones using the supplied special earphone cord. Use the remote commander for playback.

Playback Preparation

Connect stereo earphones to the USB/Headphone jack on the recorder using the special earphone cord.

Notes on Remote Operation

Check recorder power, HOLD status, and Bluetooth connection if remote buttons do not work.

Remote Operation Indicator Status:
  • Blinks blue twice: On.
  • Solid blue for 2 sec: Off.
  • Blinks blue 4 times: Reset complete.
  • Solid red: Low battery.
  • Blinks blue and red alternately: Pairing in progress.
  • Blinks blue twice repeatedly: Connecting wirelessly.
  • Blinks blue once: Wireless connection established, buttons available.
  • *When battery is low, indicator turns red.

Using with Smartphone (REC Remote)

Control the recorder (recording, settings) via smartphone using Bluetooth. Install the REC Remote app on your smartphone and pair it with the recorder. Download the app from Google Play or App Store. On the recorder, navigate to HOME -> REC Remote -> Add Device (Pairing) and follow on-screen instructions to enable Bluetooth. On your smartphone, launch REC Remote and select "ICD-TX800". Refer to the app and smartphone manuals for details.

Preventing Accidental Operation (HOLD)

Slide the HOLD/POWER switch on the recorder or the HOLD switch on the remote to HOLD. Slide back to the center or out of HOLD to release.

Initial Settings

When the recorder is powered on for the first time, the "Configure Initial Settings" screen appears. Use the remote commander to set language, date/time, and beep settings. Remove the yellow tab from the back of the remote. Press any button on the remote to wake it. Press the / button to start. Select display language (English is default). Set date/time. Press BACK/HOME to return. Select "Next". Choose "ON" or "OFF" for the beep. Select "Next". A completion message appears, followed by the HOME menu.

*Beep sound is only audible through connected headphones. Initial settings can be changed later.

Playback Operations

Starting Playback

Use the remote commander. Navigate to HOME -> Recorded Files. Select a file (e.g., "Latest Recording", "Search by REC Date", "Search by REC Scene", or "Folders"). Playback will start. Adjust volume using VOL +/- buttons. Press STOP to pause. Press / to play the recently recorded file.

Adding a Mark

Add marks to files for later splitting or searching during playback. Up to 98 marks per file are supported. Marks can also be added during recording.

Deleting Files

Files must be deleted using the remote commander. *Deleted files cannot be recovered. Select the file to delete. From the OPTION menu, select "Delete a File". Confirm deletion by selecting "Yes". A "Please Wait" message appears during deletion.

Screen Off Timer

To save battery, the "Screen Off Timer" is "30sec" by default. The display turns off after 30 seconds of inactivity, but buttons remain functional. Press BACK/HOME or toggle the HOLD/POWER switch to turn the display back on. This setting can be changed or disabled in Settings -> Common Settings -> Screen Off Timer.

Using the Menus

HOME Menu

Use the remote commander. Press and hold the BACK/HOME button. The HOME menu appears on the recorder's display.

  • Music: Play files imported from a computer.
  • Recorded Files: Play files recorded by the device.
  • Record: Access the recording standby screen.
  • REC Remote: Access the REC Remote app menu, manage Bluetooth.
  • Settings: Change recorder settings.
  • Back to XX: Return to the previous screen.

*Pressing the STOP button returns to the screen before opening the HOME menu.

OPTION Menu

Use the remote commander. Select a function in the HOME menu, then press the OPTION button. Select the menu item to change its setting.

File Management

Copying Files from Recorder to Computer

Connect the recorder to your computer. Drag and drop files or folders from the "IC RECORDER" folder to your computer's local drive. Disconnect the recorder.

Installing Sound Organizer 2 Software

Install the Sound Organizer software on your computer for file exchange. It also allows playback and transfer of imported music and audio files.

*Compatibility: Windows PCs only (not Mac). Requires Sound Organizer 2. Formatting internal memory erases all data, including the installer. Log in with an administrator account for installation.

Installation Steps (Example for Windows 7):

  1. Connect the recorder to your computer.
  2. Navigate to [Start] > [Computer], then double-click [IC RECORDER] > [FOR WINDOWS].
  3. Double-click the [SoundOrganizer_V2001] file.
  4. Follow on-screen instructions. Accept the license agreement.
  5. Choose [Standard] or [Custom] setup type.
  6. Click [Install].
  7. After installation, check [Launch Sound Organizer Now] and click [Finish].

*A PC restart may be required.

Maintenance

Replacing the Remote Commander Battery

When the remote indicator turns red, the battery is low. Use a CR2032 coin battery.

Steps:

  1. Turn the remote face down.
  2. Push the latch, insert a fingernail into the slot, and pull out the battery compartment.
  3. Remove the old battery.
  4. Insert the new battery with the '+' side facing up.
  5. Reinsert the battery compartment.
  6. Press the RESET button on the back of the remote.
  7. Press any button on the remote to turn it on (indicator will blink blue/red). Turn on the recorder. The remote is usable when the operation indicator stops blinking.

Safety Information

Power

Recorder uses built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery or USB 5.0V. Remote uses CR2032 battery.

General Safety

  • Do not use while driving, cycling, or operating machinery.
  • Avoid heat, direct sunlight, dust, and shock.
  • If liquid enters, remove battery and have it inspected.
  • Keep recorder out of back pockets. Avoid strong impacts to bags containing the recorder and earphones.
  • The device is not waterproof; avoid exposure to water.
  • Listening at high volume can damage hearing.
  • Do not use while driving or cycling for traffic safety.
  • Do not use in situations where inability to hear surroundings could be dangerous.
  • In very dry air, static electricity may cause ear discomfort. Wear non-synthetic clothing.
  • Keep away from AC power sources, fluorescent lights, or mobile phones to avoid recording interference. Touching the recorder during recording can cause noise.
  • Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry. Do not use alcohol, benzine, or thinner.

Bluetooth Safety

Range is up to 10m, affected by obstacles. Interference may occur with Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz). Keep devices at least 10m apart or turn off Wi-Fi. Keep recorder close to Bluetooth device. Turn off Bluetooth in hospitals, near medical equipment, gas stations, automatic doors, or fire alarms.

Troubleshooting

If the remote indicator blinks and it's unresponsive, re-pair the recorder and remote.

Battery Warnings

  • WARNING: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced with an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries properly.
  • CAUTION: Do not expose batteries to excessive heat. Do not disassemble. If battery leaks, avoid contact with skin/eyes. Recharge before use. Do not swallow coin/button battery (severe internal burns risk). Keep batteries away from children.

Disposal

The symbol indicates separate collection for batteries and electronics. Recycle to prevent environmental harm. Contact local authorities for disposal information.
