Traceable Memory Timer Instructions
General Timing Instructions
- Press both [Time Set Keys] simultaneously to set Timer to zero.
- Press either the [Increase Key] or [Decrease Key] to set the desired time period. The [Increase Key] begins at 1 minute and increases 1 minute with each consecutive touch. The [Decrease Key] begins at 23 hours 59 minutes and decreases by the minute with each additional touch.
- If the [Increase Key] is held down for 2 seconds, rapid advancement begins, increasing minutes at 88 minutes per second. If the [Decrease Key] is held down for 2 seconds, rapid advancement begins, decreasing minutes at 88 minutes per second.
- Use the [Increase Key] for setting 1 hour through 12 hours. The quickest way to reach 13 hours or more is by pressing the [Decrease Key], which starts at 23 hours 59 minutes and counts down.
- When the Timer reaches the last 10 minutes of the countdown (00 hours 10 minutes), the "H" and "M" letters disappear, and the display changes to 9 minutes 59 seconds. No "M" for minute or "S" for seconds will appear.
Example 1: Setting Minutes
- If, for example, you want to set the Timer for 8 minutes, press the [Increase Key] once, and 1 minute will appear.
- Press it again, and 2 minutes will appear.
- Press the [Increase Key] six more times until 00 hours 08 minutes appears in the display.
- If you pass 8 minutes, press the [Decrease Key] until 00 hours 08 minutes appears in the display.
- Press the [START/STOP Key] once. The letters "H" and "M" will disappear immediately, and the display will change to 07 minutes 59 seconds. No "M" for minutes or "S" for seconds will appear.
Example 2: Setting Hours and Minutes
- If you want to set the Timer for 12 hours 30 minutes, press and hold the [Increase Key]. This activates the rapid advancement function. After 59 minutes appear, the count switches to 1 hour 00 minutes and continues to increase.
- When approaching 12 hours 30 minutes, stop rapid advancement. Press the [Increase Key] one minute at a time until you reach the desired time.
- If you pass the desired timing period, press the [Decrease Key] until 12 hours 30 minutes appears on the display.
- Press the [START/STOP Key] once to begin the countdown. The letters "H" and "M" will immediately begin to flash, indicating seconds are counting down. They will flash throughout the countdown. Remember, when the Timer reaches the last 10 minutes, the display changes to 9 minutes 59 seconds.
Special Attachment Devices
The Memory Timer is designed for versatile use. It features a clip on its backside for attachment to thin boards, belts, or pockets, and a magnet for magnetic surfaces. A metal stand is included, adjustable to two positions for easy viewing on a desk or countertop.
Example 3: Setting Minutes and Seconds
- If you want to set the Timer for 5 minutes 30 seconds, press the [Increase Key] until 00 hours 06 minutes appears in the display.
- Press the [START/STOP Key] once to begin the countdown.
- When 5 minutes 30 seconds appears, press the [START/STOP Key] a second time to stop the count at the desired timing period.
- Press the [START/STOP Key] a third time to begin the countdown. Note: Seconds can only be set if the combination of minutes and seconds is less than 10 minutes.
When Timing Period is Completed
When the Timer counts down to 00 hours 00 minutes, a loud beeping alarm will sound for 1 minute or until the Timer is turned off. The alarm automatically turns off after 1 minute to conserve battery life. To turn off the alarm, press any key: [Increase Key], [Decrease Key], or [START/STOP Key].
To Stop Timer During Countdown
If it is necessary to stop the timing, press the [START/STOP Key] once. The letters "H" and "M" will stop flashing and remain steady. To resume timing, press the [START/STOP Key] again, and the countdown will continue. To clear the Timer to zero, press both [Time Set Keys] simultaneously.
Memory Function
When timing repetitive intervals, the memory function recalls the last programmed time, making it ideal for frequently timed lab tests. It will return to the desired time period repeatedly. Set the time period and begin the countdown. When the alarm sounds, press the [START/STOP Key] once to stop it. Press the [START/STOP Key] a second time to display the original time. Press the [START/STOP Key] a third time to begin the countdown again. Repeat as needed.
Battery Information
To replace the battery, use a standard screwdriver to turn the round screwplate on the backside of the Timer clockwise (in the direction of the arrow). Remove the screwplate and the exhausted button battery. The battery fits snugly for safe placement and good contact. Rap the backside of the Timer against your palm several times to dislodge the battery. If it doesn't fall out, use a rigid, narrow-tipped tool. Insert a new 1.5 G-13 size button cell battery, ensuring the positive (+) side faces up. Replace the screwplate securely.
