Grandstream GHP61x/GHP62x Series IP Phones User Guide

Introduction

The Grandstream GHP series hotel phones, including the GHP610(W)/GHP620(W) and GHP611(W)/GHP621(W), are user-friendly IP phones designed for hotel rooms. They can be programmed and customized to meet the specific needs of hotels and their guests. These devices feature integrated dual-band Wi-Fi (GHP6XX/W).

Key features include an HD speaker, 2 SIP accounts/lines, 6 programmable keys (3 for GHP61X), 10-speed dial keys, 3-way voice conferencing, a full-band Opus voice codec, and an advanced jitter-resilience algorithm that tolerates up to 30% packet loss without impacting voice quality.

The GHP series is supported by the Grandstream Device Management System (GDMS), offering a centralized interface for configuration, provisioning, management, and monitoring of Grandstream endpoints.

These IP phones can be installed on a desktop or wall-mounted. Powering options include PoE (GHP610/GHP611/GHP620/GHP621), a power adapter (GHP610W/GHP611W/GHP620W/GHP621W), and a USB Type-C charger (GHP620/GHP621/GHP620W/GHP621W).

Their elegant and compact design makes them suitable for hotels, hospitals, apartments, dormitories, and more.

Note: Please check the package before installation. If any component is missing, contact your system administrator.

Phone Setup

The GHP6XX/W can be installed on a desk or mounted on the wall. Follow the instructions below for wall mounting.

GHP61X/W Wall Mount

To mount the GHP61X/W on the wall:

GHP62X/W Wall Mount

To mount the GHP62X/W on the wall:

  1. On the wall where the GHP62X/W will be mounted, mark two dots vertically with a 100 mm distance between them.
  2. Using a drill, make a hole at each marked dot. Insert a plastic expansion bolt and screw (not provided) into each hole. Ensure enough space is left on the screws to mount the phone.
  3. Attach the wall mount spacers to the designated slots on the back of the phones.
  4. Mount the GHP62X/W onto the screws using its "Wall Mount Slots".

Connecting the GHP6XX/W

To set up the phone, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the phone cord to the handset (RJ-11 port) and the base.
  2. Connect the LAN port of the phone to the RJ-45 socket of a hub/switch on a router (LAN side of the router) using an Ethernet cable. This step can be skipped if using GHP6xxW with Wi-Fi.
  3. Powering the phone:
    • For GHP6XX/W: Connect the 12V DC output plug into the power jack, and plug the power adapter into the electrical outlet.
    • For GHP6XX & GHP6XX: A PoE switch must be used in step 2.

Note: For easy deployment, the GHP6xxW models are pre-configured to connect to the default SSID "wp_master" with the password "wp!987@dmin". Users can adapt these settings via the web UI.

Phone Configuration Via Web Browser

  1. Ensure your phone is powered up and connected to the internet.
  2. Locate the MAC address on the MAC tag of the unit (underside of the device) or on the package.
  3. From a computer connected to the same network as the GHP6XX, type the following address into your browser, using the GHP6XX's MAC address: https://<mac>.local. Example: https://c074adffffff.local.
  4. Enter the administrator's username and password to access the configuration menu. (The factory default username is "admin"; the default random password is on the sticker at the back of the unit).

Note: The user can dial **47#, and the IP address will be read by the IVR.

SIP Accounts and Lines

The GHP6XX supports 2 SIP accounts and 2 lines. Each account can connect to independent SIP servers and users. One account is typically configured by the administrator for initiating and receiving calls, while the other is configured for receiving calls. The default account can only be switched by the administrator.

Completing Calls

There are several ways to complete a call:

Answering Phone Calls

Receiving Calls

The phone rings with the selected ringtone. To answer, unhook the handset or press the ▶️.

Note: Due to the deployment environment, it is not possible to reject a call.

  1. Alice is talking with Bob.
  2. Alice presses [flash-key] to initiate a new call to Carl, and Bob is held automatically.
  3. Carl answers, and Alice talks with Carl about Bob. Alice then hangs up, and Bob is transferred to Carl.
  4. If Carl rejects or does not answer, Alice can press [flash-key] to retrieve the call with Bob.
  5. If the call is still ringing, Alice can cancel the new call by pressing "FLASH" and retrieve the call with Bob automatically.

Attended Transfer Before Answer

  1. Alice is talking with Bob.
  2. Alice presses [flash-key] to initiate a new call to Carl, and Bob is held automatically.
  3. Carl answers, and Alice talks with Carl.
If Alice hangs up while the call to Carl is still ringing, the call will be transferred to Carl before he answers. This is an "attended transfer before answer".

Note: For these transfer processes to function, the "Enable Recovery on Blind Transfer" feature must be disabled in the web UI under Account => Call Settings => Transfer.
