Quick Start Guide
Button Functions (Recording)
Screen On/Off: Press the power button to turn the display on or off.
Toggle Audio/Alexa Wake: Press the Alexa Wake button to toggle audio recording or activate Alexa.
Lock Video/Favorite: Press the Lock Video button to lock the current video clip or tag it as a favorite.
Take Photo: Press the Take Photo button to capture a still image.
Voice Commands
The SC 400D responds to the following voice commands to help you stay focused on the road:
- "Front Video On": Displays the front-view camera.
- "Rear Video On": Displays the rear-view camera (requires optional accessory camera).
- "Record Video": Begins loop-recording.
- "Lock Video": Locks the current video and tags it as a favorite.
- "Screen On": Turns the display on.
- "Screen Off": Turns the display off.
- "Take Photo": Takes a photo and saves it to the "Photos" folder.
Note: Voice command functionality can be enabled in the camera's settings menu.
Button Functions (Recording Stopped)
Begin Recording: Press the record button to start recording.
Toggle Audio: Press the audio button to toggle audio recording.
Enter Settings: Press the settings button to access the camera's settings menu.
Camera Tips
- The Dash Cam features continuous loop recording, which automatically deletes the oldest videos to make space for new ones. Save important clips by pressing the Lock/Emergency Recording Button or using the "Lock Video" voice command to prevent them from being overwritten.
- Format the SD card using the camera's settings menu. Do not format the SD card on a PC.
- The Dash Camera may prompt you to format the SD card to ensure smooth operation. This action will delete saved footage. Download and save favorite clips using the Drive Smarter App or by connecting the camera to your PC.
- When upgrading your SD card, visit Cobra.com for a list of compatible cards.
Attaching Accessory Cameras
For Cabin View*
Connect the cabin camera to the video input port on the SC 400D.
For a View of the Road Behind You
- Connect the extension cable to the video input port on the dash cam.
- Connect the other end of the extension cable to the rear camera.
- Attach the FV-RV1 rear camera to the vehicle's back window.
*Additional accessory cameras sold separately.
Warning: Position the rear camera on the windshield so it faces out of the vehicle in the orientation shown in the diagram.
Getting Started with the Cobra SC 400D
Download Drive Smarter: Get the Drive Smarter app on the App Store or Google Play to view, edit, and share footage from your smartphone or desktop. The app also provides real-time driver alerts.

Setup Instructions
- Attach the GPS mount to the main camera and remove protective films from the mount and camera lens.
- Connect the Micro USB cable to the GPS mount and plug the vehicle charger into your vehicle's 12V power source.
- Attach the camera to the windshield.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the Drive Smarter app and pair with Alexa. Ensure your phone's volume is turned up to hear Alexa's responses.
- Place this Quick Start Guide onto your dashboard and use it to check for glare in the camera's live-view screen. Rotate the front bezel as needed to reduce glare.
