Introduction
Thank you for selecting GIANT WheelSystems. Following these instructions will ensure that your high quality, innovative WheelSystem will continue to perform at the highest level.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This manual contains important safety, performance and service information. Read it before installing your new wheels or take your first ride, and keep it for future reference.
WARNING: Compliance with the following instructions concerning assembly, handling, maintenance and care of your Giant wheels is essential to provide proper and safe operation. Disregarding these instructions can lead to accidents resulting in serious injuries or even death.
- Giant WheelSystems are designed and intended for use on a bicycle. The wheel or its components cannot be used for any other applications or as a tool or toy, or in any manner other than that described in this User's Manual. Otherwise, it is at the user's own risk. If you are not sure the use condition of your WheelSystem, please consult your local Giant authorized retailer for the intended use of the WheelSystem.
- Certain Giant WheelSystems were designed for compatibility with UST* (Universal System Tubeless) tubeless tires or with tires designed specifically for use in a tubeless system.
- Giant WheelSystems were designed for use with non-tubeless tires as well. Please install tire with tube and rim tape according to the ETRTO standard.
BEFORE RIDING
- Ensure that the wheels are compatible and properly installed with your bicycle (built-in dimensions of the frame and fork) and all other parts such as type of brake, skewer, cassette, tire, inner tube, valve and rim tape.
- If the wheel is not assembled correctly or is improperly maintained, it is dangerous and may cause accidents with serious injury. The wheel must be assembled and maintained by a qualified professional bicycle mechanic.
- If you encounter difficulties, or are uncertain about anything identified in this user's manual, please contact your local Giant authorized retailer.
ASSEMBLY
Using Giant WheelSystems with UST* tubeless tires:
If using a tubeless conversion kit on any Giant WheelSystem product, please refer to the set up instructions provided with that kit or consult a qualified professional bicycle mechanic.
- If the tire wall of the rim is sealed, make sure that NO rim tape is mounted. If the tire wall of the rim is not sealed, install the appropriate rim tape according to the included instructions.
- Mount the tubeless valve as shown in the accompanying illustrations. Ensure that the provided o-ring seal is at its correct position.
- Attach the lock-ring to the valve and tighten it finger tight (max. 0.5Nm). Do not use any kind of tools to tighten the valve.
- For non-closed rim with rim-type brake, please use high temperature resistant rim tape and sealant provided by Giant. Contact your Giant dealer for further details.
⚠️ CAUTION: Use only tubeless valves and tires designed specifically for use without an inner tube and mount these according to the manufacturer's recommendations. GIANT tubeless valves can be purchased from your bicycle retailer. (UST* tires are special tires suitable for the use without inner tubes. *UST is a trademark of Mavic Inc. France)
❗ WARNING: Usage of a non-Tubeless tire without an inner tube may result in premature tire failure or rapid air loss.
Using Giant WheelSystems with standard tires, inner tubes and rim tapes:
- Instead of using the tubeless valve, which can be removed from the rim, only an inner tube with a Presta type valve (small valve, Ø 6.5mm) fits into the valve hole of the Giant rim. Never drill out the valve hole or enlarge it in any other way.
- Select ETRTO dimension compliant rim tapes, inner tubes and tires with the Giant WheelSystem you have purchased and install them as instructed by the manufacturer. Do not use latex inner tubes as heat generated by braking may damage it.
- Air pressure: Do not pump more air than pressure limit indicated on the rim surface (see limits labeled on it). Do not pump more air than recommended pressure limit indicated on the tire (see recommendation values on the tire).
- Mount the Shimano® or SRAM® cassette corresponding to the manufacturer's recommendations.
⚠️ CAUTION: Use tire levers carefully if they are needed. Please use plastic tire levers with smooth appearance and angle to prevent rim damage. Tools with a sharp edge and improper material may damage the rim.
How to install standard tire of Giant WheelSystem
Step 1:
Insert one side of the tire bead fully beneath the bottom of the hook (center bottom of the whole rim).
[Illustration: A bicycle wheel with one tire bead partially installed into the rim hook.]
Step 2:
Insert the other side of the tire bead beneath the bottom of the hook, working from opposite the valve toward the valve. Ensure both beads are seated within the hook to complete the installation.

Brakes
IMPORTANT: Braking with carbon rims at slow speed may cause a shuddering sensation. Only use Giant recommended brake pads for carbon rims. Other pads may not provide sufficient brake performance and could overheat the rim, causing the carbon fibers to delaminate. Failure to observe this may lead to risks of personal injury and void your warranty. Consult an authorized GIANT dealer for recommended brake pads.
⚠️ CAUTION: Do not use latex inner tubes on carbon rims that can get hot during hard braking; latex tubes do not withstand heat well, which can cause a tire to deflate suddenly. Failure to comply with this recommendation can void the warranty and may result in danger. Consult an authorized GIANT dealer for recommended inner tubes.
- Check the compatibility of the brakes, especially the brake interface of the frame, fork, and wheel. Mount the brake set and its components according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
- The proper rim brake adjustment is illustrated, showing precise alignment for optimal performance.
- Compatibility for disc brake systems includes the 6-bolt rotor configuration, as depicted. Please follow the disc brake manufacturer's instruction for rotor installation.
- For center lock systems, the rotor mounts using a lock ring, with a specified torque of 40 N*m. Please follow the disc brake manufacturer's instruction for rotor installation.
⚠️ CAUTION:
- Rims for disc brake wheels are designed for disc brakes exclusively. Do not install rim brakes on disc brake wheels.
- Rims damaged by using non-Giant exclusive brake pads are not covered by your product warranty.
- A rim will wear out with normal use. Regularly check the degree of wear and have the rim replaced as soon as it exhibits any signs that it is worn out or damaged.
- Always brake with both brakes at the same time. Avoid continual hard braking, as the rim will overheat and this may lead to tire or inner tube failure.
- Braking power is also reduced if the rim is wet or if you have new wheels or new brake pads. Please adjust your manner of riding accordingly.
MAINTENANCE & CARE
- Load limit of your product (the weight of rider + bike + luggage):
- WheelSystems for road bike: 285 lbs. / 129kg
- WheelSystems for mountain bike: 300 lbs / 136kg
- WheelSystems for E-bike: Consult an authorized GIANT dealer
- Storing your WheelSystems:
Improper storage, such as hanging wheels by the rim, can damage carbon WheelSystems. The carbon section of hybrid carbon-aluminum WheelSystems is not its main structure; please do not apply external forces on this part as it may be damaged.
⚠️ CAUTION: You are unable to measure forces in securing tires by tying, which may lead to damage to your wheels. Try using a bike carrier when moving your bike around. Package your wheels with the proper method and carefully, or they may be damaged.
- Contact a qualified professional bicycle mechanic or your Giant Retailer for all wheel tuning needs. Have the spoke tension and the wheel trueness checked regularly. Spoke tension that is too high or too low can cause high operating loads of the wheel components and could lead to premature failure caused by material fatigue.
- Check the wheels regularly for any damage. Do not ride the wheels under any circumstances if there is any damage to the rim or other components of the wheels, e.g. cracks in the rim, broken spokes, and looseness or play in the bearings. If this is the case, contact your Giant Retailer or a qualified professional bicycle mechanic to resolve the problem.
- Get your bike checked by a Giant dealer or qualified bike technician after every accident that may result in damage to your WheelSystems.
- CLEANING:
- Wheels must be cleaned frequently with a soft sponge and a suitable cleaner. Do not use solvents (e.g. acetone, mineral spirits, etc.).
- HUB: The front and rear hub must be maintained at least once a year. If used regularly under extreme conditions (e.g. strong rain, mud, transport in rain, etc.), the driver body and star ratchet should be maintained more frequently. Frequent maintenance of the hubs guarantees a longer life span and optimal performance over time. Use of high-pressure water or strong cleaner may inject foreign matters into the hub and should be avoided. Do not use strong solvents (e.g. acetone, mineral spirits, etc.).
⚠️ CAUTION: Clean all contaminants and brake pad residue (grit, dirt, oil, etc.) from the brake pad and braking surface (particularly any traces of oil or grease) and check the wear of the brake pads and brake surface of the rim before every ride. Replace worn-out brake pads with new ones to maintain optimum braking effect.
