Through thorough energy management, Panasonic's VRF Smart Connectivity+ is a completely new, state-of-the-art solution providing energy saving and comfort as well as simple installation, operation and running.

Panasonic and Schneider Electric collaborate to offer efficient energy management and a new air conditioning control solution with high IAQ (Indoor Air Quality).

Energy Management System for Rooms

Each room is monitored by high-precision sensors, making it possible to make every room's temperature comfortable without wasting energy. This system ensures optimal comfort while minimizing energy consumption.

The system utilizes built-in sensors for temperature, humidity, and occupancy, alongside optional ZigBee wireless sensors for CO2, window/door status, and water leakage detection.

A typical room display shows current indoor temperature (e.g., 23.5°C), humidity (e.g., 45%), CO2 levels (e.g., 717 ppm), and outdoor conditions (e.g., 18°C).

Management System for the Entire Building

A Building Energy Management System (BEMS) can be connected for Plug & Play centralized control of the building's entire energy consumption. This integration allows for comprehensive oversight and management of energy usage across the facility.

Key Features

Quality Air Control

Optimum IAQ is realized using CO2 and humidity sensors. The interior environment remains comfortable, while heating and cooling costs are minimized. The CO2 sensor can control ventilation systems, which contribute to improving the room's air quality.

Easy Installation and Integration

A remote controller is all that's required for occupancy control and optimum automatic indoor air quality (IAQ) control. Simple operation with a rented interface further contributes to increased energy efficiency and productivity for reduced capital expenditure (CapEx) and operating expense (OpEx).

Other Equipment Control

One room controller manages various devices including lighting and the blinds. A ventilation system and other external connection devices can be connected by using the Hotel Room Controller (HRC) or SE8350 so that various control is possible with this controller alone, even without a Building Management System (BEMS).

Dramatic Reduction of OpEx with Outstanding IAQ

The system offers a dramatic reduction in operating expenses (OpEx) through outstanding Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). It features 3 built-in sensors: Temperature, Relative Humidity (RH), and occupancy. Optional ZigBee wireless sensors are available for CO2, temperature, RH%, window/door status, and water leakage detection. Components like the Relay Pack and Hotel Room Controller (HRC) are also integrated.

Ultimate Customisation

The system provides ultimate customisation capabilities, including customizable color backgrounds, custom displays, icons, and messages. Programmable logic allows for standalone operation and flexible configuration. Various controls and external connection devices can be managed.

User-/Owner-Friendly

The interface is designed to be user- and owner-friendly, featuring a color touch screen that is simple and easy to use. It supports 22 languages and provides easy-to-understand error descriptions for quick response.

Easy Design and Plug & Play to Reduce CapEx

The system is designed for easy installation and Plug & Play integration to reduce capital expenditure (CapEx). It offers simple Plug & Play VRF connection to Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), supporting both standalone and BEMS-connected operation. Installation of ZigBee sensors is also straightforward.

Components and Sensors

Sensors

The system utilizes a range of sensors for comprehensive environmental monitoring:

  • Door/window sensor: Detects the opening and closing of doors and windows.
  • Wall/ceiling motion/temperature/humidity sensor: Detects the presence or absence of occupants and monitors ambient conditions.
  • CO2/temperature/humidity sensor: Monitors indoor air quality, reviews data on interfacing devices, and controls fresh air intake within customizable zones.
  • Water leakage sensor: Detects the presence of water via two sensing pads, reporting events to the controller and BEMS.

Controllers

Hotel Room Controller (HRC) / SER8150: This controller manages connected guest room devices and aggregates data, making it visible to guest room and property management systems. It is designed for hotels, offering room key card or key cardless solutions for optimal air conditioning regardless of guest presence.

Connectivity

The system supports various connectivity options:

  • Wired Connections: From PAC or VRF systems to SE8350, and from SE8350 to SER8150 via BACnet MS/TP.
  • Wireless ZigBee: Sensors connect wirelessly to the SER8150.
  • BEMS Readiness: The system is EcoStruxure Ready for integration with BEMS.

Accessories and Modules

Additional components enhance system functionality:

  • Wireless ZigBee® Pro communication card (Model: VCM8000V5094P).
  • Hotel room expansion module for 14 indoor units (Model: HRCEP14R).
  • Hotel room controllers for 28 indoor units (Model: HRCPBG28R) and 42 indoor units (Model: HRCPDG42R).

Note: These accessories require system integrator support on site.

Battery Life

Sensors offer extended battery life: up to 5 years for standard sensors (batteries included) and up to 10 years for the CO2 sensor. The system provides battery level data points.

For hotels, the SER8150 and ZigBee sensor automatic detection function offer optimal air conditioning. Sensors detect occupant presence and door/window status for an ideal environment. Automatic control ensures efficient operation when guests are away or windows are open, contributing to reduced operation costs.

Small and Medium Offices

In small and medium offices, CO2 sensors (optional) and humidity sensors enable fine air quality control. This creates a more comfortable space for occupants, contributing to improved employee satisfaction.

Supermarkets

Humidity sensors in supermarkets enable automatic dehumidification for optimum IAQ, regardless of climatic conditions. This creates a more comfortable environment for customers, employees, and products.
