Product Description
The MV800/8i is an eight-channel, full-range Class D marine amplifier equipped with NexD2™, the second generation of JL Audio amplification with outstanding high-speed switching technology. It is engineered for the marine environment and is designed to be a compact, high-quality amplifier. The amplifier and its integrated DSP (Digital Signal Processor) are configured using an external device (PC, Tablet or Phone), with the TSAT Software Interface.
1.1 Power Connector
Light female RCA jacks feed a differential-balanced input section, providing a high degree of input flexibility and retaining superior noise rejection. This type of input architecture also allows the MV800/8i to clearly accept any analog audio signal up to 10.9999, without using a few output connectors.
Wiring Diagram: The diagram shows connections for power, ground, remote, speaker outputs, and various input/control options.
Power Connector: The MV800/8i requires a 12 VDC power source. It is designed for operation with positive ground and/or voltages other than 12V DC, with positive ground and/or voltages other than 12V DC. This product is not certified or approved for use in aircraft.
Wiring Considerations:
- This amplifier should be mounted in a dry, well-ventilated location.
- Install your amplifier in a dry, well-ventilated location.
- Do not install where it will be directly exposed to the extreme heat. Areas exposed to a heater or hot air shrouds should be avoided.
- When selecting a mounting location, consider the orientation of the amplifier and its associated connections. Wiring and cables should be routed to protect them from moving parts and sharp edges.
- Securely mount the amplifier so that it does not come loose in the event of a collision or sudden jolt, or as a result of repeated vibrations during normal operation.
- Check before drilling to make sure that you will not be drilling into wiring harness, or other vital system.
- Do not run system wiring outside of or underneath the vehicle, as this can result in severe damage/injury.
- Protect all system wires from sharp edges by carefully routing them, tying them down and using grommets and loom, where appropriate.
- Secure all wiring as needed, using cable ties or wire clamps.
Power Wire Gauge: Note: Copper Clad Aluminum wire is not acceptable. 4 AWG wire is the best choice for marine installations. Tinned copper wire is recommended.
Grounding: A proper ground connection is vital for amplifier performance and reliability. The ground wire must be as short as possible and connected to a clean, paint-free metal surface on the vessel's chassis. Ensure the ground connection is secure.
1.2 Pre-Outs
Four female, RCA jacks deliver line-level, analog audio outputs (Max 4.9 MHz) that are compatible with most types of aftermarket equipment. These are configured with the TSAT Software Interface.

Installation Applications
This amplifier is designed for operation with 12 volt DC with positive ground and/or voltages other than 12V DC. This product is not certified or approved for use in aircraft.
Planning Your Installation
It is important that you take the time to read this manual carefully. It is very easy to damage electrical systems in modern vessels, especially when consulting a reliable wiring diagram or without analyzing the system. Your authorized dealer has the training, expertise and installation equipment to ensure optimum performance from this product. The following are some considerations that you must take into account when planning your installation.
Efficiency Considerations
Proper ventilation is crucial for amplifier performance and longevity. Ensure that the amplifier has adequate airflow around it. Do not mount the amplifier in a confined, unventilated space. If the amplifier is mounted in a location that is exposed to direct potential condensation, or in areas subject to repeated vibrations, it should be mounted so that it does not come loose. Poorly ventilated chambers can lead to excessive heat build-up, reducing the amplifier's efficiency and potentially causing damage. When mounting the amplifier, ensure at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space above the amplifier's outer shell to allow for proper heat dissipation.
Safety Considerations
Factory Reset Buttons
There are two reset buttons located on the amplifier. A small pin is required to perform the following actions:
- Factory Reset (wipe memory, reboot amp): Press and hold the reset button for 7 seconds. All user settings will be erased and the amplifier will reboot.
- Factory Reset (wipe memory, reboot amp): Press and hold the reset button for 7 seconds. All user settings will be erased and the amplifier will reboot.
TSAT Software
The TSAT Software Interface allows for advanced configuration and control of the MV800/8i amplifier. Download the latest version from the JL Audio website. The software enables control over DSP settings, input/output routing, equalization, and more.
