Installation
General Notes:
- Connect the power source after all other installation steps are completed.
- The USB Hub can be powered using an external DC Power Adapter or a Terminal Block Power Source (12-24 V DC).
Connecting the USB Ports:
- Connect up to 16 USB peripherals to the Screw Locking USB Data/Charge Ports on the USB Hub.
- Use the included USB-A to USB-B cables (one included, a second may be sold separately) to connect a USB port on each computer to the USB Host A & B Ports on the USB Hub. The computer will automatically detect the device and install the required drivers.
Powering the Hub:
Using the 2-Wire Terminal Block:
- Remove the Terminal Block Connector Housing from the USB Hub casing.
- Loosen the terminal screws using a flat head screwdriver.
- Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) wires from the 12-24V DC power source (not included) to the terminals on the connector. Ensure correct polarity to prevent damage.
- Insert the Terminal Block Connector Housing back into the USB Hub.
Using an External Power Adapter:
Connect a compatible power adapter (not included) to the Power Input Port on the front of the USB Hub and to an AC electrical outlet.
DIN Rail Mounting:
This USB Hub includes DIN Rail Brackets for horizontal mounting to a DIN Rail. To install the brackets:
- Align the DIN Rail Brackets (x2) with the DIN Rail Mounting Holes on either side at the back of the USB Hub.
- Insert and tighten the Mounting Screws (x4) through the brackets and into the USB Hub using a Phillips head screwdriver. Avoid over-tightening.
Rack Mounting:
This USB Hub can be mounted into 1U of EIA-310 compliant 19" rack space using the included Rack Mounting Brackets. The hub has two sets of mounting holes (front and rear) on each side.
To install the Rack Mounting Brackets on the USB Hub:
- Remove the pre-installed mounting screws (x6, three per side) from the front or rear of the USB Hub.
- Align the Rack Mounting Brackets (x2) with the mounting holes on either side of the USB Hub.
- Reinsert the mounting screws (x6) through the brackets and into the USB Hub, tightening them with a Phillips head screwdriver. Be careful not to over-tighten.
To install the USB Hub (with brackets) into a 1U rack space:
- Locate a suitable position in the rack/cabinet for the USB Hub, which requires 1U of space.
- If the rack/cabinet uses square mounting holes, install cage nuts into the front posts.
- Place the USB Hub with attached brackets into the rack, aligning the mounting points on the brackets with the rack's mounting points (e.g., cage nuts).
- Secure the USB Hub to the rack using cabinet screws. If cage nuts or threaded posts are not used, use appropriate rack mounting hardware.
- Ensure all screws are tightened and the USB Hub is secure with no movement.
