Safety Precautions

CAUTION: TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCK, MATCH WIDE BLADE OF PLUG TO WIDE SLOT, FULLY INSERT.

General Safety Warnings:

  • The lighting flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user of the presence of uninsulated dangerous voltage within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
  • The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user of the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance.
  • CAUTION: DO NOT OPEN (RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK)
  • Do not install this equipment in a confined or building-in space such as a book case or similar unit, and remain a well ventilation conditions at open site. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspaper, table-cloths, curtains etc.
  • Only use attachments/accessories specified or provided by the manufacturer (such as the exclusive supply adapter, battery etc).
  • To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or moisture. The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall not be placed on apparatus.
  • The batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
  • The direct plug-in adapter is used as disconnect device; the disconnect device shall remain readily operable.
  • Correct Disposal of this product: This marking indicates that this product should not be disposed of with other household wastes throughout the EU. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, recycle it responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse of material resources. To return your used device, please use the return and collection systems or contact the retailer where the product was purchased.

Power Supply

Operating the Unit on AC Power:

Insert one end of the supplied power cord into the DC 5V IN Jack located at the rear of the unit and the other end into the wall outlet. Ensure a firm connection, especially on first use. If the unit does not work on AC, try again to ensure a positive connection.

Operating the Unit on Batteries:

To operate on batteries, disconnect the AC power cord from the unit. Unplug the AC power cord and insert 4 size "C" batteries (not provided) into the compartment. Close the battery compartment door.

Battery Precautions:

  • Check batteries regularly. Replace old or discharged batteries.
  • If the unit is not to be used for an extended period, remove batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Ensure local mains supply is compatible with the unit.
  • Do not plug or unplug the power cable with wet hands.
  • Disconnect the plug from the wall outlet when planning not to use the unit for long periods (e.g., vacation).
  • Keep batteries away from children and pets.
  • Insert batteries observing correct polarity (+/-). Incorrect polarity can cause injury or damage.
  • Remove old or discharged batteries promptly.
  • Never throw batteries into fire or expose them to heat sources.
  • Dispose of batteries properly and recycle them in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Follow battery manufacturer's safety, usage, and disposal instructions.

Operation

To Turn On/Off: Press the Standby button.

In DAB Mode:

  • Press the DAB/FM/AUX/BT button to select DAB radio mode.
  • Auto Scan: Press the SCAN button. "AUTOTUNE FULL SCAN" will appear on the display, showing the number of DAB stations found. The first station will play automatically. Use the TUNE/SELECT knob to navigate between stations.
  • Manual Select: Press and hold the TUNE/SELECT knob until "MANUAL TUNE" is displayed. Use the TUNE/SELECT knob to choose a station. Note: Tuning to a new channel may take a moment.

DAB Radio Station Presetting:

  • To store a desired DAB station, press and hold the PRESET button. "Preset Empty X" (where X is the current program number) will appear, with X flashing.
  • Use the TUNE/SELECT knob to choose a program number (1-10) to store the station. Press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.
  • Repeat for all desired stations.
  • To recall a stored station, press PRESET, then use TUNE/SELECT to choose the station and press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.

In FM Mode:

  • Press the DAB/FM/AUX/BT button to select FM radio mode. Press the SCAN button. When a station is found, the frequency will display, and playback will start automatically.
  • If reception is poor, use the TUNE/SELECT knob for fine-tuning. FM station presetting is the same as DAB.

Info Button:

The unit displays DAB information modes on the bottom line of the display. Short press the INFO button to cycle through available types:

  • Program Type: Displays the type of broadcast content (e.g., Classic, Pop, News).
  • Ensemble Freq.: Displays the DAB station frequency (e.g., 13F 239.200MHz).
  • Audio Bit Rate: Shows data rate (kbps) and audio mode (e.g., Stereo).
  • Ensemble Name: Displays the multiplex name for the current Digital Network station.
  • Signal Strength: Indicates the signal strength of the current station.
  • Time/Date: Displays the current time and date received off-air.
  • DLS (Dynamic Link Segment): Scrolling text showing artist, track name, phone numbers, program details, etc.

The unit also has six FM information modes, accessed by short pressing the INFO/SETUP button:

  • PTY (Program Type): Displays the type of broadcast content (e.g., Classic, Pop, News).
  • Signal Strength: Indicates the signal strength of the current station.
  • Time and Date: Displays the current time and date received off-air.
  • Station Frequency: Displays the frequency of the station being listened to.
  • Audio Mode: Shows the current audio setting (e.g., Auto (Stereo) or Mono).
  • Radio Text: Scrolling text showing artist, track name, phone numbers, program details, etc.

Alarm Settings

Alarm 1 Settings:

  • With the unit ON or in Standby mode, press the ALARM button until the Alarm1 menu appears.
  • OFF or ON will flash. Use TUNE/SELECT to change to ON, then press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.
  • The hour digits will flash. Use TUNE/SELECT to set the hour and press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.
  • Set the minutes as described above, then short press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.
  • Alarm Mode: Select Daily, Weekdays, Weekends, or Once using TUNE/SELECT and confirm.
  • Alarm Source: (BEEPER1, BEEPER2, DAB, or FM) will flash. Use TUNE/SELECT to choose the desired alarm source and press TUNE/SELECT to save and exit.

Alarm 2 Settings:

  • With the unit ON or in Standby mode, press the ALARM button twice until the Alarm2 menu appears. (Settings are the same as Alarm 1).

Shut Off Alarm:

  • To cancel an active alarm, press the ALARM or STANDBY button. The alarm will reset for the next day.
  • Alternatively, the alarm will automatically switch off after 59 minutes unless manually cancelled.

To Turn Off the Alarm Completely:

  • Press the ALARM button. While alarm settings are displayed, use TUNE/SELECT to choose the desired alarm mode and press TUNE/SELECT to confirm.

Using the AUX Input

Connect the AUX cable from your personal player (e.g., MP3 player) to the AUX input jack. Press the DAB/FM/AUX/BT button to select AUX mode. Turn on your player to start playback and adjust the volume to your desired listening level.

Bluetooth Mode

Press the DAB/FM/AUX/BT button to select BLUETOOTH mode.

To Pair the Radio with Your Phone:

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth function on your phone or tablet. Refer to your mobile phone's user guide for instructions.
  2. Place your phone within 20 cm (8 inches) of the radio.
  3. Ensure the radio is in BT mode. Select "DAB-18" on your phone to connect via Bluetooth. Your phone will display "Connected" upon successful pairing.
  4. Enjoy your music!
