  6. Vision VMS Setup.
  7. Customer handoff & training.

Step 1: Create the Customer

Once a job is sold, log into your Partner Portal.

Navigate to Customers and click + Create Account.

Enter the information for the End User. This should be for who will be the primary admin for the Turing camera system once the installation is complete and the system is turned over to the End User.

Once the customer is created, click + Add Devices. You will be transferred to the end user's temporary Vision VMS page to begin the setup.

If the hardware is not yet on hand, you may exit the wizard and return later.

Step 2/3: Enroll Bridge and Activate NVR

Preferably, perform this step in your office to ensure a good internet connection for initial updates.

Connect NVR (network side) and Bridge to your network and power on.

If you previously created a customer and exited the enrollment wizard, navigate within the Partner Portal to: Customers -> '[customer name]' -> + Add Devices or Resume Installation.

If you are not automatically taken to the wizard, once on the customer's Vision VMS, navigate to: Settings -> Devices -> + Add Cameras.

Step 2/3: Enroll Bridge and Activate NVR (Cont.)

Add Devices – Installation Scenarios

  • Add Recorders and Cameras: Used for Turing Smart Series NVRs with Turing Smart cameras, Turing Encoders, and Third-Party Cameras with the included Turing Bridge.
  • Add Edge+ Cameras: Used for Turing Edge+ Series EVC and EVD cameras.
  • Add Integrated Axis Cameras: Used for compatible Axis Cameras with firmware version 11.1. A list of compatible Axis cameras is available during the installation wizard.

Step 2/3: Enroll Bridge and Activate NVR (Cont.)

Follow the Setup Wizard:

Create your Customer's Site (this name can be changed later) and click Confirm.

Add your Bridge via the MAC address on top of the Bridge (or Scan QR Code with mobile app).

Perform System and Firmware updates as needed.

Ensure the correct Time Zone is selected.

The Bridge will search for the NVR on the same network.

Select the installation path of the NVR based on the products you are adding.

Step 2/3: Adding NVR Pathways (Cont.)

Add Cameras – Installation Scenarios

  • Install Turing cameras using Plug-and-Play: Used for Turing Smart Series NVRs (4/8/16 Ch Plug-n-Play NVRs) with Turing Smart cameras, plugged directly into the back using the default camera password of 123456.
  • For any other installation scenario:
    • Adding cameras over the LAN
    • Installing third-party cameras
    • Turing cameras with a non-default password
    • Using a 32/64 Ch Turing NVR
  • Note: The 'any other scenario' option provides a 'Connect' option, allowing access to the NVR via its web-based menu to add cameras locally or remotely.

Step 2/3: Enroll Bridge and Activate NVR (Cont.)

Once the NVR is found on the network, you must create a password to activate the NVR.

Note: If only one password blank is shown below the 'admin' username, it indicates an older firmware version. Use the default password '123456' to continue and change the password later via the NVR.

The NVR will reboot after activation and then search for cameras.

If activating the Bridge and NVR prior to on-site installation (e.g., in your office), you may stop here. Allow the NVR to reboot (approx. 90 seconds), power down the Bridge and NVR, pack them, and label for the job.

Step 4: Deploy Hardware

Connect NVR and Bridge to the customer's network.

Install cameras and connect them to the NVR.

New cameras with Plug-n-Play NVRs will auto-populate as they are plugged into the NVR's PoE side.

For 32/64 Channel NVRs: Log into the NVR via a monitor or web browser, navigate to the Camera's menu, and click Add Cameras. New cameras will be automatically assigned an IP address.

Once all cameras are added to the NVR, click the Advanced tab and use Batch Update to set a strong password for all Turing cameras.

Tweak settings as needed using the NVR:

  • Turn WDR on
  • Adjust Framerate
  • Adjust Image Settings
  • Adjust Trigger Actions for Tri-Light Cameras

Step 4: Deploy Hardware - Camera Passwords (Cont.)

Turing Smart Series cameras come with a default password (123456). Turing actively encourages changing default passwords to COMPLEX passwords or passphrases.

Cameras added using the Private protocol (indicated by a green checkmark icon in the Status column) are compatible with the Batch Change Camera Password options in the NVR menus.

To access this feature: Navigate to Setup -> Camera -> Camera Menu, then click the Advanced tab to find the Batch Change Camera Password Button.

Step 5: Enroll Cameras into Vision & Licensing

Return to the dealer portal, go to your customer, and click Resume Installation.

To resume the Install Wizard, go to Settings -> Devices -> + Add Cameras.

Choose the existing site, bridge, and NVR, then enter the password.

The wizard will search for cameras on the NVR. You can rename cameras now or later.

IMPORTANT: Set the correct Time Zone. For the East Coast, use 'New York' instead of 'Eastern' to account for daylight savings.

Step 5: Enroll Cameras into Vision & Licensing (Cont.)

After cameras are added, click Add Licenses.

You will return to your Customers page in the Dealer Portal.

Select your customer and click + Add Licenses.

Select cameras (all or individual) to apply licenses to, then click Batch-add Licenses.

Select the correct license from your purchased pool.

If no licenses are in your pool, they can be purchased through Distribution or applied via a license file in the License Pool. Dealer Portal Admin users can also purchase licenses via the Add License pop-up or the License Store.

Step 6: Vision VMS Setup

Go into your customer in the Dealer Portal and click Resume Installation.

Navigate to Settings -> Sites. Click on the Site and input the address.

Navigate to Settings -> Devices -> Update all Devices as needed.

Hover over the bridge and click on the ⚙️. Ensure the time zone is correct.

Hover over a camera and click the ⚙️ on the first camera.

  • Rename the camera.
  • Setup and enable analytic zones.
  • Intrusion Zone: Target must be in the zone for (x) seconds before triggering.
  • Enter Area: Triggers an event as soon as the defined target type enters the zone.

Save Changes.

Step 6: Vision VMS Setup (Cont.)

Camera Settings

  • Audio Settings: Turn microphone audio on/off (with compatible cameras).
  • Detection Type: Select Intrusion, Enter Area, or Cross Line zones.
  • Time Threshold(s): Select Time Threshold; 2 seconds or more is ideal.
  • Camera Name: Rename Camera.
  • Time Lapse: Enable Time Lapse.
  • Object: Select Target Type. Zones for people and vehicles often yield the best results.

Step 6: Vision VMS Setup (Cont.)

Alerts & Notifications

Navigate to Alerts & Notifications.

Create people & vehicle-based rules. Use rules to generate alerts based on what the customer wants to be aware of. Notifications can be sent via email, text, and/or app alerts.

Examples of rules:

  • All People Alerts between 10 pm and 6 am
  • Flagged people (from a flagged people group)
  • Flagged license plate
  • Alert on Red Pickup Truck at Main Entrance

Click Device Health Alerts to set recipients (text and/or email).

Step 7: Customer Handoff

Return to the Dealer Portal.

Click on your customer and confirm their email at the top is correct.

Click Installation Complete and re-enter their email to ensure accuracy.

An email will be sent to the customer to accept their new account.

You will be notified by email once the customer has accepted their new Turing Vision account.

Once the customer has created their account, provide them with the instructions on the next page.

Step 7: Customer Handoff (Cont.)

Have the customer log into the Vision VMS via the web browser: Browser -> turing.ai -> Login -> Vision Login.

Settings -> Analytics

Turn on people-based attributes and facial analytics if desired. Note: Some geographical areas restrict biometric data; comply with local laws.

Settings -> Users

Create additional users from this screen. You can also select each user's access level.

Alerts & Notifications

Review existing rules and create new ones. Add your contact information for alerts you wish to receive via text or email.

Cameras -> Bookmarks

Set up custom views. 'Private' is for the specific user; 'Public' is accessible to all users for live viewing.

My Dealer

The end user must agree to allow the dealer to monitor system health and OTA updates, and to download/share video clips, live streams, and playbacks during the sign-up process. They can edit these choices in the 'My Dealer' menu.
