SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNING: Please read all warnings carefully before using the radio:
- Do not use the radio equipment for purposes other than those indicated in this Guide.
- For correct use, refer to the User Guide.
- Protect the radio from water spray, other liquids, and dust.
- Do not place the radio near heat sources.
- Do not place the portable radio above or in the area of action of airbags. If an airbag is activated, it may not deploy correctly and could forcefully eject the portable unit.
- Protect the external antenna connector with a cover when not in use under normal operating conditions.
- Replace batteries with equivalent, manufacturer-approved ones.
- Replace batteries following instructions in the technical manual.
- Ensure batteries are not damaged and do not have liquid leaks or evident gaseous emissions.
- Do not use the radio if the battery is damaged.
- Place the battery charger away from heat sources, ensuring proper ventilation and safe access to the power outlet.
- Do not use the battery charger outside specified environments (e.g., outdoors).
- Use only manufacturer-recommended battery chargers and follow user manual instructions for recharging.
- Do not use the radio if the antenna is damaged.
- Turn off or inhibit transmission in electromagnetically sensitive environments (e.g., hospitals, airports).
- Electronic devices can be sensitive to electromagnetic interference (EMI) if not adequately shielded. If using electromedical equipment (e.g., pacemakers) with the portable radio, ensure it is adequately shielded from external electromagnetic fields.
- Perform maintenance interventions following the technical manual instructions.
- Follow all accident prevention standards during maintenance and use proper tools (spanners, screwdrivers, etc.).
- Maintenance interventions of the first and second levels are to be carried out by authorized technicians only.
- Third maintenance level interventions are to be carried out by CALTTA technicians only.
- Use only original accessories and spare parts approved by the manufacturer for the PH600. Using different accessories or spare parts may invalidate safety and electromagnetic compatibility certifications and could lower user safety or generate electromagnetic fields exceeding accepted limits.
- Follow battery charger instructions for correct use.
- During voice calls, using the PH600 in its proper bag is not recommended in environments where the temperature exceeds 45°C.
- The emergency call is a priority call. Like all mobile telephony equipment, the portable radio operates with radio frequency signals; call forwarding depends on network coverage.
- To send an emergency call, press and hold the emergency button for at least 2 seconds when the radio is switched on.
- Do not cause short circuits between battery terminals. Do not place batteries on metal surfaces or set metal tools on battery terminals. Be careful when handling batteries, especially when placing them in pockets, purses, or bags.
- Do not use the battery charger if the power supply cable or plug is damaged.
- Incorrect battery replacement poses a risk of explosion.
- Even if the battery is discharged, there is a risk of explosion if disposed of in fire.
- Do not take the radio into environments with potentially explosive atmospheres (e.g., fuel storage sites, filling stations). The radio, even when off, may generate sparks due to its battery, which could trigger fires and/or explosions.
- Do not use the battery charger in environments with potentially explosive atmospheres. Using the charger may generate sparks that could trigger fires and/or explosions.
- To further enhance user safety, observe the following precautions:
- The PH600 radio has an automatic system to control transmitted power, transmitting at maximum power only in exceptional cases (e.g., limited radio coverage, emergency call). Avoid touching the antenna when the radio is on, especially during transmission, as it can affect transmitting power.
- During voice communications in earphone mode, hold the portable radio with the antenna straight and above your shoulder, speaking directly into the microphone.
- During voice communications in loudspeaker mode, hold the portable radio vertically and at least 2.5 cm away from your head.
COMPLIANCE WITH RF EXPOSURE STANDARDS
The CALTTA two-way radio is designed and tested to comply with national and international standards and guidelines for human exposure to radio frequency electromagnetic energy.
This radio complies with IEEE (FCC) and ICNIRP exposure limits for occupational/controlled RF exposure environments at operating duty factors of up to 50% talk-50% listen and is authorized by IEE/ICNIRP for occupational use only.
To control your exposure and ensure compliance with occupational/controlled environment exposure limits, always adhere to the following procedures:
Control Guidelines:
- Do not remove the RF Exposure Label from the device.
- User awareness instructions should accompany the device when transferred to other users.
- Do not use this device if the operational requirements described herein are not met.
Operating Instructions:
- Transmit no more than the rated duty factor of 50% of the time. To receive calls, release the PTT button. Transmitting 50% of the time, or less, is important because this radio generates measurable RF energy exposure only when transmitting.
- Hold the radio in a vertical position in front of your face, with the microphone and other parts of the radio (including the antenna) at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) away from your nose or lips. The antenna should be kept away from the eye. Maintaining proper distance is important as RF exposure decreases with distance from the antenna.
- When worn on the body, always place the radio in an approved clip, holder, holster, case, or body harness for this product. Use of non-approved accessories may result in exposure levels that exceed occupational/controlled environment RF exposure limits.
- Use only manufacturer-approved supplied or replacement antennas, batteries, and accessories. Use of non-manufacturer-approved antennas, batteries, and accessories may exceed FCC RF exposure guidelines.
- For a list of approved accessories, consult your local dealer.

Bluetooth guide
Use CPS software to define the upper and lower programmable keys on the left side of the Radio as Bluetooth on/off key and Bluetooth search key. Then press the lower key to enter the Bluetooth search status. After pairing the Bluetooth accessories, like a Bluetooth headset, while the Radio receives audio, the Bluetooth accessories will receive voice.
