Spacing for Recessed Area or Closet Installation
The dimensions shown are for the recommended spacing allowed. Additional spacing should be considered for ease of installation and servicing. Additional clearances might be required for wall, door, and floor moldings.
- An additional spacing of 1 inch (25 mm) on all sides of the dryer is recommended to reduce noise transfer.
- For closet installation, with a door, minimum ventilation openings in the top and bottom of the door are required. Louvered doors with equivalent ventilation openings are acceptable.
- Companion appliance spacing should also be considered.
Diagrams illustrate recommended clearances:
- Maximum clearance from the back of the dryer to the wall: 14 inches (356 mm).
- Clearance from the front of the dryer to the wall/cabinet: 1 inch (25 mm) is the minimum recommended.
- Clearance from the sides of the dryer to the wall/cabinet: 1 inch (25 mm) is the minimum recommended.
- Clearance above the dryer: 18 inches (460 mm).
- Ventilation requirements for closets: Minimum openings of 48 square inches (310 cm²) at the top and 24 square inches (155 cm²) at the bottom of the door are required.
