2 Avoiding Property Damage

2.1 General

Caution: Alcohol vapours can ignite in the hot oven compartment, leading to permanent damage to the appliance. Explosions can cause the appliance door to spring open and fall off. The door panes can shatter and splinter. The resulting negative pressure can severely deform the oven compartment inwards.

  • Do not heat spirits (≥ 15% vol.) undiluted (e.g., for basting).
  • Water on the oven floor at operating temperatures above 120 °C can cause enamel damage. Do not start operation if there is water on the oven floor. Wipe the oven floor dry before operation.
  • Objects on the oven floor at temperatures above 50 °C cause heat build-up. Baking and roasting times will no longer be correct, and the enamel will be damaged. Do not place accessories, baking paper, or foil of any kind on the oven floor. Only place cookware on the oven floor when a temperature below 50 °C is set.
  • Water in the hot oven compartment creates steam. Damage may occur due to temperature changes. Never pour water into the hot oven compartment. Never place cookware with water on the oven floor.
  • Moisture in the oven compartment over a longer period leads to corrosion. Allow the oven compartment to dry after use. Do not store moist food in the closed oven compartment for extended periods. Do not store food in the oven compartment.
  • Do not trap anything in the appliance door. Fruit juice dripping from the baking tray leaves stains that cannot be removed. Do not overfill the baking tray with very juicy fruit cakes. Use the deeper universal pan if possible. Oven cleaner in a warm oven compartment damages the enamel. Never use oven cleaner in a warm oven compartment. Remove residues from the oven compartment and appliance door completely before the next heating cycle. If the seal is heavily soiled, the appliance door will not close properly during operation. Adjacent furniture fronts may be damaged. Always keep the seal clean.

3 Environmental Protection and Saving Energy

3.1 Disposing of Packaging

The packaging materials are environmentally compatible and can be recycled. Dispose of the individual components according to their type.

3.2 Saving Energy

Your appliance will consume less electricity if you follow these tips.

  • Only preheat the appliance if the recipe or the setting recommendations suggest it. Refer to "Tips for Success", page 30. If you do not preheat the appliance, you save up to 20% energy.
  • Use dark, black-lacquered, or enamelled baking tins. These baking tins absorb heat particularly well.
  • Open the appliance door as infrequently as possible during operation. The temperature in the oven compartment is maintained, and the appliance does not need to reheat.
  • Bake or roast multiple dishes directly one after another or in parallel. The oven compartment is already warm after the first baking cycle. This reduces the baking time for subsequent dishes.
  • For longer cooking times, switch off the appliance 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time. The residual heat is sufficient to finish cooking the dish.
  • Remove unused accessories from the oven compartment. Unnecessary accessories do not need to be heated.
  • Defrost frozen food before preparation. This saves energy for defrosting the food.
  • Switch off the display in the basic settings. Refer to "Basic Settings", page 15. Energy is saved when the display is switched off.

Note: According to EU Ecodesign Directive 2023/826, the appliance has a different state when switched off, referred to as standby mode. Even when the main function is not active, the appliance requires energy for: detection of sensor button activation, monitoring door opening, processing the time (without display). Therefore, neither an "off" nor a "standby" state exists, hence the term standby mode is used. EN IEC 60350-1:2023 should be used to measure standby mode.

27 Tips for Success

Here you will find the appropriate settings and the best accessories and cookware for various foods. We have optimally tailored the recommendations to your appliance. Tip: You can find many more details on preparation, suitable settings, and recipes in the Home Connect app or on our website: www.bosch-home.com.

27.1 General Preparation Instructions

Observe these instructions when preparing all foods.

  • Temperature and duration depend on the quantity and recipe. Setting ranges are therefore provided. Try the lower values first.
  • The setting values apply to inserting the food into a cold oven compartment. If you still want to preheat, insert the accessory into the oven compartment only after preheating.
  • Remove unused accessories from the oven compartment.

Caution: Acidic foods can damage the wire rack. Do not place acidic foods such as fruit or food seasoned with acidic marinade directly on the rack.

Note for Nickel Allergy Sufferers: In rare cases, small traces of nickel may transfer to the food.

You can purchase suitable accessories from customer service, specialist retailers, or online. Refer to "Further Accessories", page 10.

27.2 Baking Tips

  • Dark metal baking tins are best for baking cakes, pastries, or bread.
  • Use wide, shallow cookware for casseroles and gratins. In narrow, tall cookware, food requires more time and becomes darker on top.
  • If preparing casseroles directly in the universal pan, insert it at level 2.
  • The setting values for bread dough apply to both doughs on the baking tray and doughs in a loaf pan.

Caution: Water in the hot oven compartment creates steam. Damage may occur due to temperature changes. Never pour water into the hot oven compartment. Never place cookware with water on the oven floor.

27.3 Roasting, Braising, and Grilling Tips

  • The setting recommendations apply to chilled, ready-to-roast poultry or food.
  • Place poultry with the breast side or skin side down on the cookware.
  • Turn roasts, grilled items, or whole fish after approx. 1/2 to 2/3 of the specified time.

Roasting on the Rack

Food roasted on the rack becomes particularly crispy on all sides. For example, roast large poultry or several pieces at once.

  • Roast pieces of similar weight and thickness. The grilled items will brown evenly and remain juicy.
  • Place the food directly on the rack.
  • To catch dripping liquids, slide the universal pan with the rack placed on it into the specified insertion height.
  • Depending on the size and type of roast, add up to 1/2 litre of water to the universal pan. You can prepare a sauce from the collected roasting juices. This also results in less smoke and less soiling of the oven compartment.

Roasting in Cookware

Roasting in covered cookware keeps the oven compartment cleaner.

  • Use heat-resistant, oven-safe cookware.
  • Place the cookware on the rack.
  • Cookware made of glass is best.
  • Observe the manufacturer's instructions for roasting cookware.

Roasting in Open Cookware

  • Use a deep roasting tin.
  • If you do not have suitable cookware, you can use the universal pan.

Roasting in Covered Cookware

  • Use a suitable, tightly closing lid.
  • For meat, there should be at least a 3 cm gap between the food and the lid. The meat may rise.

Warning: Scalding hazard! When opening the lid after cooking, very hot steam can escape. The steam may not be visible depending on the temperature. Lift the lid so that the hot steam escapes away from your body. Keep children away.

Grilling

Grill foods that you want to be crispy. CircoTherm is very suitable for preparing whole poultry and fish, as well as meat, e.g., roast pork belly. Grill items of similar weight and thickness. The grilled items will brown evenly and remain juicy. Place the grilled items directly on the rack. To catch dripping liquids, slide the universal pan at least one level below the rack. Notes: The grill heating element switches on and off repeatedly. This is normal. The frequency depends on the set grill stage. Smoke may be produced during grilling.

27.4 Preparation Tips for Ready Meals

  • The cooking result depends heavily on the food. Pre-browning and unevenness may already be present in the starting product.
  • Do not use heavily frozen products. Remove ice from the food.
  • Remove ready meals from the packaging.
  • If you heat or cook the ready meal in cookware, use heat-resistant cookware.
  • Distribute chunky foods, such as bread rolls and potato products, evenly and flat on the accessory. Leave some space between the individual pieces.
  • Observe the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging.

27.5 Food Selection

Setting recommendations for numerous foods sorted by food categories.

Air Fry

Cook food crisply and with little fat using Air Fry. Air Fry is particularly suitable for foods that you would normally deep-fry in oil.

Preparation Tips for Air Fry

  • Cooking with Air Fry is only possible on one level.
  • You achieve the crispiest results with the enamelled Air Fry tray. The perforated surface allows particularly good air circulation around the food. If the Air Fry tray is not included with the appliance as standard, you can purchase it as an optional accessory.
  • Do not preheat the oven.
  • Do not use baking paper. The air must circulate in the oven compartment.
  • Do not defrost frozen foods.
  • Place the Air Fry tray or the universal pan evenly with the food. Distribute the food in a single layer on the accessory if possible.
  • Insert the accessory at level 3 into the oven compartment. If you are using the Air Fry tray, you can insert an empty universal pan at level 1 to protect against soiling.
  • Turn the food halfway through the cooking time. For larger quantities, turn the food twice.

Tip: Salt the food only after cooking. This makes the food crispier. Breaded vegetables are also suitable for preparation with Air Fry. To save fat, spray the breading with oil using a spray bottle. This creates a crispy crust with little fat.
