Icom IC-F1000 / IC-F2000 Series VHF/UHF Transceivers Instructions

Product Overview
The Icom IC-F1000 and IC-F2000 series are VHF/UHF transceivers. This document provides instructions for their use, including details on battery packs, chargers, antennas, and other accessories.
Battery Packs
The following battery packs are available:
- BP-278/BP-279/BP-280 BATTERY PACK: Available in different capacities providing varying battery life (10-20 hours depending on model and usage).
Options
Chargers
- BC-213 DESKTOP CHARGER: For rapid charging of a single battery pack. Can be used with a power adapter or the CP-23L cigarette lighter cable.
- BC-214 MULTI CHARGER: For rapid charging of up to 6 battery packs. Can be used with the BC-157S AC adapter or the OPC-656 DC POWER CABLE.
DC Cables
- CP-23L CIGARETTE LIGHTER CABLE: For charging from a 12V socket (use with BC-213).
- OPC-656 DC POWER CABLE: For use with a 13.8V power source (use with BC-214).
Antennas
A variety of VHF and UHF antennas are available, including standard, stubby, and cut antennas, covering various frequency ranges.
Others
- MB-130 MOBILE BRACKET: For mounting the BC-213 desktop charger.
- MB-133 BELT CLIP: For attaching the transceiver to a belt.
- Speaker Microphones (HM-158LA, HM-159LA, HM-222HLWP): Provide convenient operation and high audio output (for specific models).
- Earphone-Microphones (HM-153LA, HM-166LA): Ideal for hands-free operation.
- Headsets (HS-94, HS-95, HS-97) with PTT switch cables (VS-4LA) or adapter cables (OPC-2004LA): For use with transceivers, some supporting VOX operation.
- Headsets (HS-94LWP, HS-95LWP): Waterproof versions of the headsets.

Panel Description
The transceivers (IC-F1000/F2000 series) come in three types: Non-display (Basic), Simple (4-key), and 10-key types. The panel includes:
- Antenna Connector
- [PTT] button
- [VOL] knob
- [ROTARY SELECTOR]
- [Emer] button
- Speaker
- Speaker-Microphone Jack
- LED Indicator: Indicates transmitting (red), receiving (green), or incoming calls (orange). Blinks green for low battery.
- FUNCTION DISPLAY: Shows signal strength, power status, channel information, and messages. Icons include: SIGNAL STRENGTH INDICATOR, LOW POWER ICON, AUDIBLE ICON, COMPANDER ICON, SCRAMBLER ICON, BELL ICON, SCAN ICON, KEY LOCK ICON, BATTERY INDICATOR, ALPHANUMERIC READOUT.

- [P0] - [P3] buttons
- 10-KEY PAD (on 10-key type models)
The illustration shows the 10-key type transceiver. Some features may vary depending on the transceiver version.
Basic Operation
Battery Charging
Rapid charging the supplied BC-213: The BC-213 desktop charger rapidly charges Li-ion battery packs. Charging time for BP-279 is approximately 2 to 3 hours. The charge indicator lights orange while charging and green when complete. Charging should be done within a specified temperature range (+10°C ~ +40°C).
Rapid charging the BC-214: The BC-214 multi charger can charge up to 6 battery packs simultaneously. Charging time for BP-279 is approximately 2 to 3 hours.
Turning ON the transceiver
Rotate the [VOL] knob to turn the transceiver ON.
Receiving and Transmitting
Receiving: 1. Select a channel using the [ROTARY SELECTOR] or memory channel keys. 2. Adjust the audio output level using the [VOL] knob.
Transmitting: 1. Ensure the channel is clear. 2. Hold down the [PTT] button and speak at a normal voice level, holding the microphone 5-10 cm (2-4 inches) from your mouth. 3. Release the [PTT] button to receive.
Important for transmitting: 1. Pause briefly after pressing [PTT] before speaking. 2. Speak clearly at a normal voice level.
