AnyTone D578UV BT01 Microphone Instructions
The AnyTone BT0101 Mic is a Bluetooth Microphone featuring a 2.5-inch display, keyboard, speaker, and microphone. Its compact design (4.25" x 2.5" x 1") allows it to replace the removable front panel of compatible radios. The BT0101 Mic integrates with AnyTone mobile D578UV, D578UVPRO, and D578UVIIPRO radios, providing full radio control wirelessly. It also includes a 2-foot coiled cable for direct connection. The BT01 Mic has a built-in rechargeable battery charged via a Type-C USB connector from a 5 Volt supply. A headset connector is located on the right side, and a memory card slot is available next to it.
Initial Set-up
To charge the BT01 Mic, use a standard 5V Type-C USB cable connected under the headset cover. The front right [LED Indicator] will be red during charging and will turn off upon completion. The D578UV series radios require a firmware update to function with the BT01 Mic. Ensure you are using firmware V1.16b for the D578UV and V2.03b for the D578UVII or later versions. The BT01 Mic can be charged while in operation, connected, or when the radio is in standby mode.
The BT01 Mic is compatible with all D578UV / UVII version radios. For connecting and using the BT01 Mic, ensure you have the latest Firmware, BT, BT APRS, and CPS updates installed. The BT Firmware update must be performed using an Android smartphone with a Bluetooth connection.
Hands Free Operation
The BT01 Mic can be utilized as a hands-free accessory. Before connecting the BT01 Display Microphone, you must first pair the BT01 [PTT Button] with the D578 radio. Once this BT01 PTT connection is established, you can proceed with setting up the Display Microphone and use the BT01 [PTT Button] as a hands-free option.
Power ON
To power on the BT01 Mic, press and hold the top center [Power Button] for 5 seconds. The [LED Indicator] will turn green, and the screen will display "Select Port" with two options: 1) BT01 PORT and 2) UART PORT for cable connection. Use the [Up/Down Buttons] on the front to select either "BT01 Port" or "UART PORT". The BT01 can also be configured to remotely turn the radio ON/OFF.
BT01 Pairing to the D578UV
After powering on the BT01 Mic and selecting "BT01 Port", the screen may display "NO DEVICE CONNECTED". Initiate the BT01 pairing process from the D578UV radio by navigating to Menu/Bluetooth/etc. The D578UV should detect the BT01 Mic, which will appear with a Bluetooth name similar to: ELET_AGHT_LE9D10. Confirm the pairing. This action will load data into the BT01 Mic, enabling it to control the D578UV radio as if operating from the radio's front panel. Upon successful pairing, the D578UV radio will display "Work in BT01 OpMode", and the only available key will be the [Exit Key] to cancel the connection. Note that the BT01 Mic may automatically reconnect after exiting; to ensure a complete disconnect, turn the BT01 Mic [Power Button] off. Once paired and with continuous connections, the BT01 Mic may show "All Data Checking" for a few seconds, up to 30 seconds, before fully connecting to the D578UV radio.
BT01 Microphone Operation
(1) Channel/Frequency Selection
When the BT01 Mic is connected to a D578UV radio, the top [Channel Up/Down Buttons] default to volume up/down control. A short press of the top [Power Button] will toggle these buttons to function as channel selection or frequency selection. The two left and right top buttons are used for channel selection when in channel mode, and for frequency programming when in frequency mode. Entering a channel number (4 digits) or frequency via the keypad will automatically switch to the selected channel/frequency.
(2) Zone Selection
When the BT01 Mic is paired with the D578UV radio, pressing the [Up/Down Buttons] on the front panel of the BT01 Mic while in channel mode will switch to a different zone. Please be aware there might be a slight delay between pressing the button and the actual zone change.
(3) Volume Adjust
In standby mode, a short press of the top [Power Button] will switch the top [Channel Up/Down Buttons] to control volume. The BT01 Mic display will show "Vol / Ch" to indicate this change. If the volume feels too high or too low, you can adjust the "RFBT01 Spk Gain" setting within the Menu/Bluetooth section of the BT01 Mic to a level between 1 and 5. Ensure the radio volume is not set to 0, as this will mute the BT01 speaker. You can also select via the Menu whether you want only the BT01 Mic speaker, or both the BT01 speaker and the radio speaker to produce sound. If the radio speaker option is selected, the radio's volume controls will adjust both the BT01 Mic and the radio volume (though the BT01 Mic's [Up/Down Buttons] will still control the BT01 speakers).
Function Operation
When the BT01 Mic is paired with the D578UV radio (via cable or Bluetooth), all D578UV functions can be operated from the BT01 Mic. Note that the front buttons P1 through P6 on the D578 radio do not function when the BT01 Mic is in use, and the D578 Display is locked. The volume controls must not be set at 0 for the BT01 Mic to produce audio; any position other than 0 is valid.
P1 to P3 Programming
The BT01 Mic features 3 programmable buttons located below the [PTT Button] on the left side. Their functions must be programmed independently from the radio's P1-P6 buttons using the BT01 Mic Menu under Settings/Radio Set/Key Func. Due to Bluetooth communication, the execution of these programmed buttons may take up to 5 seconds to implement; patience is advised.
Power Off
In standby mode, press and hold the top [Power Button] for 5 seconds or until the display powers off. When the BT01 Mic is paired with the D578UV radio, the BT01 Mic will automatically power off when the D578UV is powered off using its front power button. The D578UV can be returned to local operation by pressing the [Exit Key] on the radio or by turning off the BT01 Mic.
Microphone Cable
The BT01 Mic is supplied with a 2-foot coiled cable. To use this cable, ensure you set the BT01 Mic to "UART PORT" during power-up before connecting the BT01 microphone to the D578UV radio. When the cable is connected, the D578UV radio will supply power to the BT01 microphone, and the internal battery of the BT01 Mic will be charged by the radio. A standard CAT5 cable of longer length can be used if extended power from the radio is desired for the BT01 Mic.
Battery Capacity
The built-in battery is a lithium-type battery, which may be sensitive to extreme cold temperatures. The battery typically lasts for over 12 hours when the BT01 Mic is connected to the radio via Bluetooth and the display remains on constantly. When connected to the radio via cable, the battery is charged directly from the radio.
