Introduction

Dear Consumers:

Thank you for choosing Creality products. For the best experience, please read this quick start guide carefully before operating the machine. Our teams are always ready to provide you with the best services. If you encounter any problems during use, please contact us via the phone number or email address provided at the end of this guide.

For a better experience, you can also learn how to use the engraving machine in the following ways:

Firmware Upgrade

Download the latest firmware from https://www.creality.com/pages/download-cr-laser-falcon-laser-engraver. Save the '.bin' file to the root directory of the TF card, backing up any other files you need from the TF card and then deleting them, leaving only the firmware file on the card. Insert the TF card into the machine when it's powered off, then turn on the machine. It will update automatically. A buzzer will sound during the update process. When the update is completed, the sound will stop. Do not power off during the update process.

Safety Precautions

Using the high-density laser beam to heat up the workpiece surface when engraving or cutting aims to gasify without combustion. However, most workpieces are combustible and may ignite, leading to open fire, machine breakdown, and environmental contamination.

Please follow these operating principles:

  1. Do not store the machine near combustible or explosive substances, volatile solvents, or heat sources. Store it in a well-ventilated, cool, and dust-free environment.
  2. Use only the provided power cord.
  3. Regularly clean the body and laser module with a dry cloth when the power is off.
  4. Ensure the laser operates at 0°C-35°C. Do not run the machine in a humid environment or during thunderstorms.
  5. If the machine will be unused for an extended period, switch it off and unplug the power cord.
  6. Do not touch electronic areas with hands or tools when the machine is connected to power. Do not plug or unplug the laser module wires under power.
  7. Do not touch any moving parts or the laser module while the machine is running.
  8. Place a laser-impenetrable flat object, such as an aluminum alloy or stainless steel plate, under the processing material.
  9. Wear goggles to prevent vision damage from laser spot exposure during operation.
  10. Operate the machine in a well-ventilated environment, as laser engraving may generate fumes or gases.
  11. Children under 10 are not allowed to operate the machine without adult supervision to prevent personal injury.
  12. Keep fire extinguishers ready and ensure they are regularly checked.
  13. Do not leave the machine unattended while it is running.
  14. Users must comply with local laws and regulations, professional ethics, and safety obligations. Do not use products or equipment for illegal purposes. Creality is not responsible for any legal liabilities incurred by violators.

Notes:

Software Installation and Usage Guide

The machine can be controlled via a Type-C data cable for online operation or via a TF card for offline operation (only LightBurn can generate engraving files). For detailed software tutorials, refer to the information on the TF card.

Preparation

Before starting to engrave, complete the following preparations:

  1. Read the "Safety Precautions" again carefully.
  2. Ensure the protective lens of the laser module is clean and adjust the focal length correctly.

For 1.6W, 5W Laser Module: The fixed focus bar should naturally contact the surface of the material when vertical. Lock it with the two hand screws on the right. Turn the fixed focus bar clockwise until it is attracted by the magnet. Finally, plug in the laser module cord.

For 10W Laser Module: Place the multi-level fixed focus bar between the laser module and the material. Follow the tips on the focus bar to align the bottom of the laser module with the corresponding surface of the multi-level fixed focus bar. Lock it with the two hand screws on the right. For example, when engraving or cutting 2mm basswood or other material.

Modify GRBL Configuration Parameters:

After successfully installing LightBurn software and adding the printer, if your printer's X and Y print size is not 220mm, modify the configuration parameters $130 and $131 in the console. For details, refer to the "User manual for LightBurn" file on the TF card.

Online Operation

Connect the control box and use the software to operate the machine in real-time through the Type-C cable. For details, please refer to the information in the TF card. Note: When operating via Type-C, do not insert the TF card and do not press the micro switch on the control box.

Offline Working

  1. First, generate the engraving file (.gcode/.gc/.g/.nc/.ngc) through LightBurn software and save it to the root directory of the TF card (the machine defaults to reading the latest engraving file in the first-level directory. It is recommended to delete other engraving files in the first-level directory). Insert the TF card into the machine before powering on. Then, use the provided power adapter and power cord to connect the machine, and finally turn on the red power switch on the right side of the control box.

After the power is turned on, the machine emits three beeps ("di...di...di"), enters standby mode after initialization, and the indicator light turns into a flashing light.

  1. Press the microswitch. The machine will enter preview mode from standby mode. The laser head will emit a weak laser and move repeatedly around the largest X, Y borders of the processed engraving/cutting area, with the indicator light on. At this time, adjust the material to a suitable position.

In preview mode, press the microswitch again to enter engraving mode. The laser head will emit the corresponding laser power, and the machine will start engraving with the indicator light on.

If you need to pause engraving, press and hold the microswitch for 3 seconds. The machine will emit one "beep" and return to the home position. After reset completion, it will emit two "beeps" and enter standby mode, with the indicator light flashing.

If you need to cancel engraving, press and hold the microswitch for 3 seconds. The machine will emit one "beep" and return to the home position. After reset completion, it will emit two "beeps" and enter standby mode, with the indicator light flashing.

  1. After engraving is completed, the machine will emit three "beeps", return to the home position, emit two "beeps" upon completion of reset, and enter standby mode with the indicator light flashing.

Indicator Status Description

  1. Indicator Light Off: The machine is powered off or has a power abnormality.
  2. Slow Flashing Light: The machine is in standby mode. Press the microswitch to enter preview or engraving mode.
  3. Fast Light Flashes: The machine is in upgrade mode. The buzzer beeps quickly, and it will automatically enter standby mode after the upgrade is completed.
  4. Light Always On: The machine is in preview or engraving mode. The laser head is working; pay attention to safety.
