  • Do not arbitrarily disassemble or reconstruct the refrigerator. Do not damage the refrigerant circuit or the sealed cooling system. Maintenance must be conducted by a professional service person.

Food Contamination Prevention

  • Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant temperature increase.
  • Users should regularly clean surfaces and accessible drainage systems that come in contact with food.
  • Clean water tanks if not used for 48 hours, and flush the water system if water has not been drawn for 5 or more days.
  • Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers so it does not contact or drip onto other food.
  • If the appliance is left empty for long periods, disconnect from power, defrost, clean, dry, and leave the door open to prevent mold.

Physical Hazards

  • The gaps between the doors and between the doors and the refrigerator body are small. Do not put your hand in these areas. Be gentle when closing the door to avoid food or liquids falling or spilling.
  • Do not pick up food or containers with wet hands in the freezer compartment when the refrigerator is running, especially metal containers, to avoid frostbite.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the refrigerator. Objects may fall when closing or opening doors, increasing injury risk.
  • Unplug the appliance in the event of power failure and when performing routine cleaning. Wait at least five minutes before plugging back in to prevent damage to the compressor and sealed cooling system due to successive stops and starts.

Placement of Items

  • Do not put flammable, explosive, volatile, or highly corrosive items in the refrigerator or freezer to prevent damage and limit risk of fire or explosion.
  • Do not place flammable items near the refrigerator to limit risk of fire or explosion.
  • The refrigerator is intended for household use, such as food storage; it shall not be used for other purposes, such as storage of blood, drugs, biological products, etc.
  • Do not store beer, soda, or other beverages in bottles or enclosed containers in the freezing compartment. Bottles or sealed containers may crack or explode due to freezing temperatures and can damage the refrigerator.

Energy Warnings

  • Refrigerating appliances might not operate consistently (e.g., defrosting of food or warming temperatures) when set below the cold end of the designed temperature range.
  • Effervescent drinks should not be stored in the freezer compartment or in low-temperature chambers or cabinets. Some products, like ice water, should not be consumed too cold.
  • Do not exceed storage time(s) recommended by food manufacturers, particularly for commercially quick-frozen food.
  • It is recommended to wrap frozen food in several layers of parchment paper or newspaper to prevent an undue rise in temperature while defrosting.
  • An increase in temperature of frozen foods during manual defrosting, maintenance, or cleaning could shorten storage life.

Disposal Warnings

Both the refrigerant (R600a isobutane) and cyclopentane foaming material used are flammable. When the appliance reaches the end of its service life, keep it away from any fire source and dispose of it according to local regulations to prevent damage to the environment or other harm.

When disposing of the refrigerator, disassemble the doors and remove gaskets and shelves. Put the doors and shelves in a proper place to prevent damage to the environment or any other harm.

3.1 Key Components

Food Storage Recommendations

  • Refrigerating Chamber: Suitable for storing fruits, vegetables, beverages, and other food consumed in the short term. Cooking ingredients should be cooled to room temperature before storing. Seal food items before placing them in the refrigerator. Glass shelves are adjustable.
  • Freezing Chamber: Keeps food fresh for a long time, mainly used for storing frozen food and making ice. Suitable for meat, fish, and other food not consumed in the short term. It is recommended to divide chunks of meat into small pieces for easier freezing.
  • Flex Drawer: Can be adjusted to set temperatures of 30°F, 34°F, 37°F, or 41°F.
    • 30°F: Suitable for storing meat.
    • 34°F: Suitable for storing drinks.
    • 37°F: Suitable for storing deli meats, cheeses, and snacks.
    • 41°F: Suitable for storing certain types of wine.

NOTE: Storing too much food during initial operation after connecting to power may adversely impact freezing. Food stored should not block the air outlet, as this will also adversely impact the freezing effect.

3.2 Control Panel

The control panel allows for adjustment of various settings:

  • Temperature Zone Display: Shows current temperatures for different zones.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Use the '-' and '+' keys to decrease or increase temperature settings for the refrigerating, freezing, and flex chambers.
  • Chamber Buttons: Dedicated buttons for Refrigerating Chamber, Freezing Chamber, and Flex Drawer temperature settings.
  • Filter Button: Indicates water filter status.
  • Energy Saving (Eco Mode) Button: Activates energy-saving mode.
  • Lock/Unlock (Wake Up) Button: Locks or unlocks the control panel. Press and hold for 3 seconds. The panel auto-locks after 30 seconds of inactivity. An error beep sounds if operations are attempted while locked.
  • REF-ICE Button: Turns the ice maker on or off.

Initial Power-Up: When first energized, icons will be semi-bright and scroll for 3 seconds, accompanied by a start-up bell. The display will then enter normal operation. Initial default temperatures are typically Refrigerating Chamber: 39°F, Freezing Chamber: 0°F, Flex Drawer: 37°F.

Temperature Setting Ranges:

  • Refrigerating Chamber: 34°F to 44°F.
  • Flex Drawer: 30°F (Meat) to 41°F (Wine).
  • Freezing Chamber: -7°F to 7°F.

Fahrenheit/Celsius Swap: Press the '+' and '-' keys together for 3 seconds.

Water Dispenser Display and Control

The dispenser panel offers functions for chilled water, cubed ice, and crushed ice. The water function is the default.

Control of Water Dispenser Lamp

The dispenser lamp turns on when the dispenser switch is activated and turns off after a 3-second delay when the switch is disconnected.

Tips for Replacing Filter

The WATER FILTER light indicates filter status: it comes on after 150 days of use and flashes after 180 days. To reset the light, hold down the prompt on the control panel for 3 seconds.

Quick Cool Mode

Press and hold the FRIDGE TEMP button for 3 seconds. The refrigerating chamber icon turns blue. The temperature is automatically set to 33.8°F. It returns to the previous setting when stopped.

Quick Freeze Mode

Press and hold the FREEZER TEMP button for 3 seconds. The freezing chamber icon turns blue. The temperature is automatically set to -7.6°F. It returns to the previous setting when stopped.

ECO Mode

Press the ENERGY SAVING key to enter Eco Mode (indicator light turns on). Quick freeze mode is canceled. Freezer temperature is controlled at 6.8°F and refrigerator at 44.6°F. Press the key again to exit.

Anti-Condensation Heater Strip

This strip on the left door edge can be turned off by pressing ENERGY SAVING and FREEZER TEMP simultaneously for 3 seconds, then locking the display. To turn it back on, repeat the process. It is recommended to keep it on in humid climates and off in dry areas. Avoid toggling frequently.

Error Codes

When an error occurs, the screen displays a code and a buzzer rings. Pressing any key while unlocked or locked stops the alarm. The code clears after the corresponding error is eliminated.

Door Open Alarm: If any door is opened for more than 2 minutes, a buzzer sounds. Press any key to clear or close all doors.

Although the refrigerator may still provide standard cooling functions in most error cases, contact ZLINE Customer Service at 1-614-777-5004 to ensure normal use.

3.3 Fetching Water and Ice

The ice/water dispenser is located on the outside of the left refrigerating chamber door and offers cubed ice, crushed ice, or cold water. The dispenser only works when the refrigerating chamber door is closed.

  • Dispensing Cold Water: Press the WATER button until the indicator turns on. Push a container into the water dispensing chute. Remove the container to stop the flow.
  • Dispensing Crushed Ice: Press the CRUSHED button until the signal turns up. Push a container firmly against the dispenser chute. Remove the container to stop the flow.
  • Dispensing Cubed Ice: Press the CUBED button until the signal lights up. Push a container into the dispenser chute. Ice cubes will start to fall. Remove the container to stop the flow. Ensure the container is positioned correctly to prevent ice from falling to the sides.

Disassembling Doors and Drawers

Detailed instructions are provided for removing doors and drawers for cleaning or maintenance. These involve removing screws, disconnecting electrical harnesses and water lines, and carefully lifting components.

  • Left Refrigerator Door: Involves removing top panel screws, disconnecting electrical and water lines, removing hinge bolts, and lifting the door.
  • Right Door: Similar hinge bolt removal and lifting.
  • Variable Temperature Door: Requires removing the drawer, then the door by demounting harness covers and screws, and carefully lifting the door.
  • Freezer Drawer: Involves opening the drawer, removing shelves, removing screws from slide rails, and sliding the drawer out.
  • Freezer Door: Requires opening the drawer, removing shelves, removing screws from drawer rails, and sliding the door out.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Overall Cleaning

  • Clean dirt and dust behind the refrigerator and on surrounding floors frequently to improve cooling and save energy.
  • Check door gaskets regularly for debris and clean with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water or diluted detergent.
  • Clean the interior regularly to avoid odors. Disconnect power before cleaning. Remove all food, drinks, shelves, and drawers.
  • Use a soft cloth or sponge with a mixture of 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a quart of warm water. Wipe clean, then let the appliance dry naturally before turning on power.
  • For hard-to-clean areas, use a soft rag, soft brush, or non-metal tools (like Popsicle sticks).
  • Do not use soap, detergent, scrub powder, spray cleaner, hard brushes, steel cleaning balls, wire brushes, abrasives, organic solvents, boiling water, or acid/alkaline items, as they may damage surfaces or contaminate food.
  • Do not spray water directly into or on the refrigerator.

Door Tray Removal

Squeeze the tray with both hands, push upward, and then take it out. Reverse steps for replacement.

Cleaning of Drawers

  • Flex Drawer: Open to maximum, hold sides, lift tail, pull back to separate support hinge. Lift front, pull drawer back, rotate up/out.
  • Upper Freezer Drawer: Open door to maximum, lift tail, pull slide rail, push drawer forward to separate from support claw. Separate side. Rotate back/up.
  • Lower Freezer Drawer: Open door to maximum, hold sides, lift tail, pull drawer back to separate support claw. Lift front, move horizontally, rotate up/out.

Cleaning of Ice Storage Box

Hold the button, press gently, and pull the ice storage box out horizontally. Push it back in after cleaning. Note: Ice may fall out when the box is removed. Dump the first 2-3 batches of ice after initial use or filter replacement.

To Turn On/Off the Ice Maker

Unlock the control panel and toggle the REF-ICE button. The indicator light turns on when the ice maker is on.

Changing the Light

Any replacement or maintenance of the LED lamps is intended to be made by a professional. If lights fail within warranty, call ZLINE Customer Service.

Defrosting

The refrigerator has an automatic defrosting function. Frost can also be manually removed by disconnecting power or wiping with a dry towel.

Out of Operation

  • Power Failure: In case of power failure, food can be kept for several hours. Decrease door opening frequency and do not add fresh food.
  • Long-time Non-use: Unplug, clean, and leave doors open to prevent odor.
  • Moving: Remove all objects, fix partitions, tighten leveling feet, close and tape doors. The appliance should not be laid upside down or horizontally. The inclination during movement shall be no more than 45°.
  • The appliance should run continuously once started. Interruption may impair its lifespan.

Hot housingNormal heat dissipation of the built-in condenser. Can be hot due to high ambient temperature, storing too much food, parties, or long door openings. Ensure sound ventilation.
Surface condensationNormal on exterior surfaces and door seals when ambient humidity is too high. Wipe with a clean towel.

Ice maker does not make iceTurn on the ice making function. It may take 12 hours for the first ice. Check if the ice bucket is installed.

The water tastes badReplace the water filter as instructed. If the new filter does not correct the taste, call ZLINE Customer Service.

Warranty

Coverage

ZLINE counter-depth refrigerators have a one-year parts and service warranty and a five-year parts warranty on the unit's sealed cooling system. Warranty periods begin from the original date of product delivery and cover the original purchaser. The limited warranty covers all parts and labor for necessary repairs if any part proves defective in materials or workmanship. Products must be deemed serviceable via troubleshooting with ZLINE Customer Experience. Service must be performed by ZLINE-approved providers during normal business hours. Products must be unobstructed and accessible. ZLINE's liability is limited to the original purchase price.

Terms

ZLINE warranties apply only to the original purchaser of a ZLINE product installed for normal residential use (single-family, residential dwelling in a non-commercial setting). Commercial settings are not covered. Warranties are non-transferable and take effect from the date of delivery. Applies only to products installed in the contiguous United States and the District of Columbia. Failure to secure certified warranty service will result in forfeiture of the remaining warranty. Out-of-pocket payments will not be reimbursed without prior ZLINE approval. All warranty procedures must be followed.

If ZLINE is unable to repair a product after a reasonable number of attempts, ZLINE reserves the right to offer replacement or a full refund of the purchase price. The original purchaser must provide proof of purchase (including date) and the serial number when filing a claim. The warranty is void if the original factory serial number has been removed, altered, or cannot be readily determined. ZLINE is not responsible for damage resulting from shipment, delivery, improper installation, negligence, misuse, abuse, unauthorized alteration, accident, fire, floods, pest infestations, pandemics, natural disasters, improper electrical supply, or service not in accordance with manuals/codes.

If service is dispatched and the issue is not covered under warranty, the customer will be responsible for all service fees. Failure to pay these fees will forfeit remaining warranty coverage.

Serial Number Location

The rating tag, showing model and serial number, is located inside the unit on the left-hand side, above the crisper drawer compartment. It is visible when the refrigerator door is open. Do not remove permanently affixed labels, warnings, or plates, as this will void the warranty.
