Installation Procedure
- Step 1: Access the underside of the vehicle. Locate and potentially remove a panel indicated by an arrow [arrow-down].
- Step 2: Remove a section of the rear bumper. This operation requires two people [two-people].
- Step 3: Identify the mounting points on the vehicle's chassis. Arrows indicate where the tow bar brackets will attach.
- Step 4: Prepare the main tow bar assembly. The tow ball mount (U) is shown, along with a torque wrench and a specification of 8 Nm [torque-wrench] 8 Nm.
- Step 5: Attach the mounting brackets (Y) to the vehicle chassis using the specified fasteners. Arrows indicate the correct orientation.
- Step 6: Insert protective sleeves or clips into designated holes on the chassis.
- Step 7: Apply protective tape or material to wiring harnesses to prevent damage during installation.
- Step 8: Apply lubricant or sealant to wiring harnesses as shown.
- Step 9: Secure wiring harnesses using clips or ties, ensuring they are routed correctly.
- Step 10: Attach a specific bracket (part of the tow bar frame) to the vehicle chassis.
- Step 11: Secure this bracket using fasteners (X) as shown.
- Step 12: Connect any necessary wiring or electrical components.
- Step 13: Secure another bracket to the chassis using fasteners (X).
- Step 14: Mount the main tow bar frame to the vehicle chassis using fasteners (Z1 and Z2).
- Step 15: Measure the gap (A = ? mm) between components. Use supplied shims (1mm x2, 2mm x2) to ensure the gap (B = mm) is equal to the measured gap (A = B), ensuring proper alignment.
- Step 16: Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque values:
- Fasteners labeled '1': 25 Nm [torque-wrench] 25 Nm
- Fasteners labeled '2': 40 Nm [torque-wrench] 40 Nm
- Fasteners labeled '3': 110 Nm [torque-wrench] 110 Nm
- Step 17: Install the tow ball assembly (U) and tighten its fasteners to 110 Nm [torque-wrench] 110 Nm.
- Step 18: Cut a section from the vehicle's rear bumper to accommodate the tow bar. This is indicated by a jigsaw [jigsaw] and a symbol for discarding the cut piece [waste-bin].
- Step 19: Further trimming or modification of the bumper may be required.
- Step 20: Re-attach the modified bumper section. This is indicated by arrows and requires two people [two-people].
- Step 21: Perform a final check of the underside of the vehicle.
- Step 22: Install or adjust components in the front grille area.
