Application
Horizontal installation of round damper models in concrete floors utilizing a steel deck. The hold opening made through the concrete floor may not allow the bottom plate to be placed against the steel deck on an even plane. This installation details how to properly install the required retaining plates next to the steel deck.
Notes
1. Damper assemblies must be installed in wall/floor openings using a single retaining plate on either side of the wall/floor. The use of a second retaining plate is allowed, but is not necessary. A single retaining plate is provided with the dampers. A second retaining plate can be ordered as an option.
Diagrams
Figure 1: Damper installed in concrete floor with steel deck with actuator above the floor.
This diagram illustrates a round fire damper installed in a concrete floor with a steel deck. The damper assembly is shown within the floor opening. A retaining plate is visible, securing the damper. The steel deck is positioned below the concrete floor. The actuator for the damper is located above the concrete floor level.
Figure 2: Damper installed in concrete floor with steel deck with actuator below the floor.
This diagram shows a similar installation of a round fire damper in a concrete floor with a steel deck. The damper assembly is within the floor opening, secured by a retaining plate. The steel deck is below the concrete floor. In this configuration, the actuator for the damper is positioned below the concrete floor level.
