10. MOUNTING AND POSITIONING

10.1. Mounting

After setting camera parameters, prepare for outdoor use. Ensure secure and correct mounting for scouting or other applications. For optimal picture quality, mount the camera on a sturdy tree with a diameter of approximately 6 inches (15cm). Position the tree about 16-17 feet (5m) from the area to be monitored. The camera should be placed at a height of 2.5-3.5 feet (0.75-1m). For best night results, the subject should be within the ideal flash range of 10-75 feet (3-23m).

There are two mounting methods: using the provided adjustable web belt or the tripod socket.

Using the adjustable strap: Thread one end of the strap through the two brackets on the back of the camera, then through the buckle. Fasten securely around the tree trunk, ensuring no slack (Refer to Figure 17).

Using the tripod socket: The camera has a socket at the bottom for mounting on a tripod or other accessories with a standard UNC 1/4-20 thread screw (not included).

Figure 17: Mounting the Camera shows the camera with the adjustable strap attached.

10.2. Sensing Angle and Distance Test

To verify the camera's monitoring area, perform this test to check the sensing angle and monitoring distance:

  • Switch the camera to ON mode.
  • Press MENU, then navigate to "Motion Test". The camera will count down a maximum of 60 seconds (or less, depending on sensor activation time) and be ready to capture motion.
  • Close the camera door.
  • Move within the expected game area at various positions, distances, and angles from the camera.
  • When the white motion indicator LED flashes RED, the camera can sense the position. If the LED does not blink, the position is beyond the sensing range.
  • During these tests, the camera captures pictures upon motion detection. The screen will show the number of triggers, allowing you to review captured pictures.

The test results help determine the best placement and aiming. The ideal height varies with animal size; 3 to 6 feet is generally recommended. Avoid aiming at heat sources, nearby tree branches, or bushes (especially on windy days) to prevent false triggers. Do not install the camera behind glass windows or aim it at glass objects, as motion sensing will be impaired.

10.3. Starting

The camera supports three working modes: "Motion Detection", "Time Lapse", and "Hybrid". Press the START button to enter surveillance mode.

  • If "Motion Detection" is selected, the camera counts down 30 seconds before standby and capture. Motion triggers image or video capture as programmed.
  • If "Time Lapse" is selected, the camera enters Time Lapse mode after pressing START and captures images periodically according to the "Timelapse Interval" setting, ignoring "Detection Delay".
  • If "Hybrid" is selected, the camera operates using both modes.

11. REVIEW PHOTOS OR VIDEOS

After setup and activation, you can review captured images and videos. Photos and videos are stored in the \DCIM\100MEDIA folder on the SD card. Photo files are named like DSCF0001.JPG, and video files like DSCF0001.MP4. MP4 video files can be played on common media players like Windows Media Player, QuickTime, or VLC.

Review options include:

  • Directly on the camera screen.
