Installation Guide

Meross smart garage door opener is the companion device of your existing garage door opener. Its main working principle is as follows:

Diagram: Illustrates a wall with a garage door. A Meross device is shown mounted on the wall near the garage door opener head. A power cord is connected to the opener head. The setup shows the Meross device complementing the existing garage door opener system.
  1. Download the Meross app and choose Smart Garage Door Opener to get start. Available on [App Store] and [Google Play].
  2. Power on the device. Wait approximately 5 seconds until the status LED blinks amber and green.
  3. Connect the device to your home WiFi with the Meross app.
  4. Connect the sensor cable. Move the sensor to check if it is functional. If the sensor is not functional, contact support@meross.com.
  5. Find a proper position on the garage door to mount the sensors. Ensure the distance between the two sensors is less than 1 inch when the garage door is closed, and the two sensors are well separated when the garage door is open.
Diagram: Shows two sensor parts, one attached to the garage door and the other to the frame. A measurement indicator shows a gap of 'less than 1 inch apart' when the door is closed.

You can use the included double-sided adhesive tapes or screws for sensor fixation.

  1. Power off your existing garage door opener. Connect the other end of the signal control cable to the two terminals that connect to the wall button. Wire order does not matter here.
Diagram: Shows wall button terminals labeled '+', 'Common', and '+', connected to an opener power head. The terminals are described as 'Radio or Push Button or Alternative or OP/CS or O/S/C'.
  1. Deploy the device. It is recommended to place it on the top of your existing garage door opener. Use the provided double-sided adhesive tapes for fixation if necessary.
Diagram: Shows the Meross device and its power cord positioned on top of the garage door opener.
  1. Power on both the existing garage door opener and the smart garage door opener. The smart garage door opener will reconnect to Meross cloud service automatically. Congratulations! You have completed all installation steps.

Amazon Alexa

Meross provides two types of voice commands for Amazon Alexa. If you choose the “Meross” skill:

  • “Hi Alexa, open/close my garage.”
  • “Hi Alexa, is my garage closed?”

Note: Replace “garage” with the garage door name you set. Amazon Alexa supports Security Code, which can be enabled via the Amazon Alexa app.

If you choose the “Smart Meross” skill:

  • “Hi Alexa, ask Smart Meross to open/close the garage door one/two/...”
  • “Can I have your PIN code?”

Alternatively:

  • “Check garage.”

Note: PIN code is an optional setting.

  • “Hey Google, open/close garage door.”
  • “Can I have your security code?”
  • “Hey google, is garage door opened/closed?”

Note: Replace ‘garage door’ with the garage door name you set. PIN code is required by Google for security concerns.

FAQ

For any questions about the Smart Garage Door Opener, please feel free to contact support@meross.com.

  • Can I manage multiple smart garage door openers within the Meross app? One smart garage door opener is for one garage door only; you can configure multiple openers within the app.
  • What should I do if my Meross app is unable to control the added smart garage door opener? Please check: the main WiFi's internet connection, ensure the WiFi password hasn't changed, and try factory resetting the device and reconfiguring its WiFi.
  • Is Meross MSG100 compatible with my garage door opener? Do I need an accessory? Go to www.meross.com/compatibility and choose your brand/model. If your model is not listed or requires an accessory, email support@meross.com with your order ID, learn button color, opener brand and model, and an address for accessory shipment.
  • Why can I open or close my garage door, but the Meross app shows the wrong status? Probably your sensor is not well installed or is defective. Manually move the two sensor parts close (less than 1/4 inch) or apart to check if the Meross app updates the status correctly. Ensure sensor cables are well connected. If the sensor wire is disconnected, the device is in door open status. Shorting the two pins in the red connector puts the device in door close status.

Warranty

Meross products are covered by a 12-month limited warranty from the date of original purchase. For any problems, please contact support@meross.com. Aftersales service is provided only for products sold by Meross or its authorized retailers and distributors.
