Sena M1 EVO Smart Mountain Bike Helmet
Version 2.0.0
1. About the M1 EVO Smart Mountain Bike Helmet
1.1 General Information
This product is a mountain bike helmet. It is designed for riding bicycles and may not provide sufficient protection for other activities. Sena recommends choosing a helmet that offers maximum coverage for enhanced protection. Always wear the helmet low on the forehead, ensuring a comfortable and snug fit at all times.
WARNING: This helmet is designed to protect against injury in accidents, but it cannot prevent all injuries, including serious head injury or death, even at low speeds. It does not protect against injuries to the spine, neck, or face. If the helmet sustains any impact, it should not be used further as there may be invisible damage that reduces its protective capabilities. Such helmets should be returned to Sena for inspection or destroyed and replaced. Do not modify or remove any original parts of the helmet. Do not use heat-damaged helmets, which may exhibit uneven or bubbly surfaces. This User's Guide and the stickers inside the helmet contain important instructions and warnings. It is crucial to understand all information before the first ride. Contact an authorized Sena Retailer for any questions. Failure to follow instructions or warnings may void the warranty and could result in severe personal injury or death. Parents or guardians should ensure children understand the contents of this guide.

1.4 Wearing the Helmet
1.4.1 How to Wear The Helmet
For proper use, the helmet must sit level on the head and low on the forehead. The Sena helmet uses a quick-release buckle system that allows for easy buckling and unbuckling without altering the adjustment. Straps should be tight and evenly tensioned.
To wear the helmet correctly:
- Position the helmet on your head so the front covers your forehead. If the helmet is tipped back, it is not in the proper position.
- Center the strap adjuster just below your ears.
WARNING: Always wear the helmet in the proper position, covering your forehead for maximum protection. Never wear it tipped back, as this exposes your forehead and reduces protection. All fitment adjustments should be made with the helmet in the proper position.
- Position the helmet low on your forehead with the buckle under your chin, against your throat. The straps should fit comfortably around both ears.
- After removing the chinstrap pad, adjust the chinstrap tension at the buckle using the strap adjuster. Ensure the chinstrap is tight and comfortable by pulling the strap end through the buckle.
- Secure excess strap with the O-ring and attach the chinstrap pad. The chinstrap buckle should be fastened, and the chinstrap pulled tight against the throat. When opening your mouth, you should feel the chinstrap pull firmly against your chin. A properly adjusted helmet will cradle your head with firm but comfortable pressure.
- Your helmet has an adjustable retention system to stabilize its position while riding. Turn the retention system knob clockwise to tighten or counterclockwise to loosen.
- To change the height of the retention system, pull or push it upward or downward to a different position.
WARNING: For maximum protection, the helmet must be fitted and attached properly to the wearer's head according to these instructions. If the helmet does not fit properly after adjustment, do not use it and return it to the retailer or Sena.
1.4.2 Helmet Fitment Check
Turn the retention system knob until snug. Buckle the chinstrap under your chin. Grab the helmet with both hands and try to roll it forward and backward. This test ensures a correct fit. The chinstrap should pull against your chin, and the helmet should resist movement. If it doesn't, tighten the chinstrap and try again. If a proper fit cannot be achieved, do not use the helmet and try a different size.
To check fit, try rolling the helmet forward to block vision or backward to expose the forehead. If this happens, tighten the chinstrap and retention system until it cannot be rolled forward or backward.
WARNING: Do not wear anything under the helmet, such as a cap, hood, or hair accessories, as this can cause the helmet to loosen or come off. Do not wear someone else's helmet or lend yours. Always ensure the buckle is fastened before riding; failure to do so can result in serious injury. Tuck the loose end of the chinstrap through the "O" ring. Check fit and adjustment regularly, especially before each ride. This helmet is designed for recreational bicycling and is not approved for extreme uses like downhill racing, snow sports, water sports, motor sports, or activities requiring greater protection. Always wear a helmet when bicycling. Remove the helmet when not riding, such as when climbing trees or playing. Parents should instruct children on these warnings, as failure to comply could result in serious personal injury, death, or strangulation.

11. Maintenance and Care
The inner lining is removable and can be hand-washed with water and mild soap at a maximum of 30°C (86°F), using non-abrasive cloths for the helmet shell, pads, and retention system. Allow padding to dry at room temperature. Store the helmet in a dry, dark, well-ventilated area, away from children and animals. High temperatures (above 110°F, 43°C) can melt the helmet shell.
WARNING: Never use gasoline, diesel fuel, thinners, or solvents to clean the helmet, as they can cause invisible damage that compromises safety. Avoid contact with ammonia, bleach, paints, or abrasives. Do not use the helmet if exposed to such substances. Do not store the helmet near heat sources or in a car. Ensure it cannot fall to the floor, as damage from falling is not covered by warranty. Do not attach mirrors or lights to the helmet.
The helmet shell is made of expanded polystyrene foam. Ventilation holes may allow small objects to enter. The helmet's protective capability diminishes over time due to factors like dents, dings, pollution, chemicals, and sun exposure. Sena recommends replacing helmets every five years. Note that useful life may be shorter due to sunlight exposure, rough handling, or heavy use.
