4. Safety Instructions
DANGER! Electrocution Hazard
- On boats: Ensure the power supply has a residual current device (RCD), residual current circuit breaker (RCCB), or ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). Installation, especially in damp areas, must comply with applicable regulations.
- Do not touch exposed cables with bare hands, especially when operating from AC mains.
- Ensure the power supply line and plug are dry before starting the device.
WARNING! Explosion Hazard
- Do not store explosive substances like spray cans with flammable propellants in the cooling device.
WARNING! Electrocution Hazard
- Do not operate the cooling device if it is visibly damaged.
- If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or their service agent with a suitable cable or assembly to prevent hazards.
- This cooling device may only be repaired by qualified personnel. Improper repairs can lead to hazards.
- Plug the device into sockets ensuring proper connection, especially if it needs to be earthed.
WARNING! Fire Hazard
- When positioning, ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged.
- Do not locate multiple portable socket-outlets or power supplies at the rear of the device.
- In case of damage to the refrigerant circuit: Keep open flames and ignition sources away. Ventilate the room. Switch off the device.
- For devices with flammable refrigerant: The refrigeration circuit contains a small quantity of environmentally friendly but flammable refrigerant. Leaking refrigerant may ignite.
- Keep ventilation openings free of obstructions.
- Do not use mechanical objects or other means to speed up defrosting unless recommended by the manufacturer.
- Do not open or damage the refrigerant circuit.
- Do not use electrical devices inside the cooling device unless recommended by the manufacturer.
WARNING! Health Hazard
- This cooling device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the device.
- Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by unsupervised children.
CAUTION! Electrocution Hazard
- Before starting, ensure the power supply line and plug are dry.
- Disconnect the cooling device from the power supply before cleaning, maintenance, or after every use.
CAUTION! Health Hazard
- To avoid food contamination:
- Check if cooling capacity is suitable for the food being stored.
- Store food in its original packaging or suitable containers.
- Opening the device for long periods can significantly increase internal temperature.
- Regularly clean surfaces that contact food and accessible drainage systems.
- If the device is left empty for long periods: Switch off, defrost, clean, dry, and leave the lid open to prevent mold.
NOTICE! Damage Hazard
- Check that the voltage specification on the data plate matches the energy supply.
- Connect the device only as follows:
- With the DC connection cable to a DC power supply (vehicle).
- With the AC connection cable to an AC power supply.
- Never pull the plug out by the cable.
- If connected to a DC outlet, disconnect the device and other power-consuming devices from the battery before connecting a quick charging device.
- If connected to a DC outlet, disconnect or switch off the device when turning off the engine to avoid battery discharge.
- The device is not suitable for transporting caustic materials or materials containing solvents.
- The insulation contains flammable cyclopentane and requires special disposal procedures. Deliver the device at end-of-life to an appropriate recycling center.
- Do not place near open flames or heat sources (heaters, direct sunlight, gas ovens, etc.).
- Risk of overheating! Ensure a minimum of 50 mm ventilation on all sides. Keep ventilation areas free of obstructions. Do not use or store in closed compartments with minimal air flow.
- Do not fill the inner container with ice or fluids.
- Never immerse the cooling device in water.
- Protect the device and cables against heat and moisture.
- The cooling device shall not be exposed to rain.
5. Intended Use
The Dometic CFF cooling device is suitable for cooling food and for use in vehicles. It is designed to be operated from a DC on-board power supply (vehicle or boat), a DC auxiliary battery, or an AC power supply.
It is suitable for camping and other recreational uses, as well as household and similar applications such as:
- Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other working environments
- Farm houses
- Hotels, motels, and other residential environments
- Bed and breakfast establishments
- Catering and similar non-retail applications
This product is only suitable for the intended purpose and application in accordance with these instructions.
This manual provides necessary information for proper installation and operation. Poor installation, operation, or maintenance may result in unsatisfactory performance or failure.
Dometic accepts no liability for injury or damage resulting from:
- Incorrect installation, assembly, or connection (including excess voltage).
- Incorrect maintenance or use of non-original spare parts.
- Alterations to the product without Dometic's express permission.
- Use for purposes other than those described in this manual.
Dometic reserves the right to change product appearance and specifications.
6. Operation
6.1 Avoiding Food Waste
- Keep temperature fluctuation as low as possible. Open the device only as often and as long as necessary.
- Store foodstuff to allow good air circulation.
- Adjust the temperature according to the quantity and type of foodstuff.
- Store foodstuff covered or in closed containers/bottles, as it can absorb or release odors/tastes.
6.2 Saving Energy
- Choose a well-ventilated location protected from direct sunlight.
- Allow warm food to cool down before placing it in the device.
- Do not open the device more often or for longer than necessary.
- If the device has a basket, position it for optimal energy consumption (as delivered).
- Regularly check that the lid seal fits properly.
- Avoid unnecessarily low temperatures.
6.3 Operating
Scope of delivery:
Connecting the Device:
- Connect to a battery (12/24V DC): Use the DC connection cable. Ensure correct polarity (+/-). Do not connect incorrectly (indicated by ⚠️ and ❌ symbols).
- Connect to an AC power supply (100-240V AC): Use the AC adapter and power cable. Plug the adapter into the socket, then connect the cable to the device.
Switching On:
- CFF12: Press the power button. Place items inside, close the lid until it clicks.
- CFF18, CFF20, CFF35, CFF45, CFF50LPDZ, CFF70DZ: Press the power button. Place items inside, close the lid until it clicks.
Switching Off and Storing:
- Press the power button (1) to switch off. Disconnect power (2).
- For CFF35, CFF45, CFF50LPDZ, CFF70DZ: Remove the basket. Open the lid, then close it.
Selecting the Temperature Unit (°C / °F):
- CFF12, CFF18, CFF20, CFF35, CFF45: Press SET. Use +/- to select °C or °F. Hold SET for 3 seconds to confirm.
- CFF50LPDZ, CFF70DZ: Press SET. Use +/- to select °C or °F. Hold SET for 3 seconds to confirm.
Setting the Temperature:
- CFF12, CFF18, CFF20, CFF35, CFF45: Press SET. Use +/- to adjust the temperature. Hold SET for 3 seconds to confirm.
- CFF50LPDZ, CFF70DZ: Press SET. Use +/- to adjust the temperature. Hold SET for 5 seconds to confirm.
Adjusting Battery Monitor Sensitivity:
This feature protects the vehicle battery from excessive discharge when connected to the DC power supply.
- CFF12, CFF18, CFF20, CFF35, CFF45: Press SET. Use +/- to select sensitivity (LOW, MED, HIGH). Hold SET for 3 seconds to confirm.
- CFF50LPDZ, CFF70DZ: Press SET. Use +/- to select sensitivity (LOW, MED, HIGH). Hold SET for 4 seconds to confirm.
Setting Display Brightness:
- CFF12, CFF18, CFF20, CFF35, CFF45: Press SET. Use +/- to select brightness level (d1, d2, d3). Hold SET for 3 seconds to confirm.
- CFF50LPDZ, CFF70DZ: Press SET. Use +/- to select brightness level (d1, d2, d3). Hold SET for 3 seconds to confirm.
Switching Off Compartments (Dual Zone Coolers - CFF50LPDZ, CFF70DZ):
- Press SET. Select OFF for the first compartment. Press SET again. Select OFF for the second compartment.
Switching On Compartments (Dual Zone Coolers - CFF50LPDZ, CFF70DZ):
- Press SET. Select the desired temperature for the first compartment. Press SET again. Select the desired temperature for the second compartment.
6.4 Battery Monitor
The cooling device is equipped with a multi-level battery monitor to protect the vehicle battery from excessive discharging when connected to the on-board DC supply. The monitor has three levels: Low, Medium, and High.

The device will switch off automatically when the battery voltage drops below the set threshold to prevent deep discharge.
7. Disposal
Recycling Packaging Material: Place packaging material in appropriate recycling waste bins.
Recycling Products:
- If the product contains non-replaceable batteries, rechargeable batteries, or light sources, they do not need to be removed before disposal.
- For final disposal, consult your local recycling center or specialist dealer for details on how to comply with applicable disposal regulations. ♻️ ♺
