Honeywell Home T87RF/Y87RF Single Zone Thermostat
User Guide
Setting Your Room Temperature
1. Your current room temperature is shown in the display. To set the temperature you want, turn the dial right to increase and left to decrease. Each 'click' as the dial turns represents a 0.5°C change.
Description of dial operation: The thermostat display shows the current room temperature. Turning the dial clockwise increases the set temperature, and counter-clockwise decreases it. Each click adjusts the temperature by 0.5°C.
2. After five seconds, the current room temperature will be displayed again. The thermostat will then try to maintain your set temperature as accurately as possible.
You can check your set temperature by turning the dial one 'click' to the left or right. The set temperature will flash for a few seconds before returning to display the room temperature.
Night-Time Temperature Reduction
For energy saving, it is recommended to set the thermostat to a lower temperature when overnight or when away from home. A reduction of 5°C is generally advised, but this can vary based on your heating system and home insulation.
Understanding Your Display Indicators
- Set Temperature Indicator: The figure shown on the screen represents your desired set temperature, not the current room temperature.
- Heating On: This indicator [?] signifies that heating is required, meaning your boiler is active or cycling.
- Boiler Relay Connection: This indicator [?] confirms your thermostat is successfully connected to your Boiler Relay.
- Internet Gateway Connection (Optional): This indicator [?] shows your thermostat is successfully connected to your Internet Gateway.
Replacing the Batteries
Replace the batteries when the [low battery] ? symbol is displayed.
To replace batteries: Remove the dial. Separate the thermostat from its mounting plate. Replace the two discharged AA alkaline batteries with new ones. Reattach the thermostat to the mounting plate and replace the dial.
Troubleshooting
Low Batteries
If the [low battery] ? icon appears, replace the batteries immediately.
No Power to the Thermostat
If the thermostat screen is blank after initial installation, ensure the protective tab has been removed from the batteries. If the issue persists, try replacing the batteries.
RF Communication Error
If these icons [⚠️] are flashing, there might be a communication issue with the Boiler Relay signal. First, verify mains power to the Boiler Relay. If the problem continues, consult your installer.
Defective Thermostat
If this icon [❌] is displayed, the thermostat is no longer functioning and requires replacement.
Binding Your Thermostat to an RFG100 Internet Gateway
To operate your thermostat remotely or set schedules, you need to use the RFG100 Internet Gateway (sold separately) and bind the thermostat to it. Follow the full installation instructions provided with the RFG100. At the binding stage, follow these steps:
- Touch and hold the right-hand touch zone for approximately 10 seconds to activate the binding screen.
- Briefly touch the right-hand touch zone again to send the binding signal. The [binding signal] and [gateway signal] symbols will flash until binding is successful.
- With good reception, the green LED on the Gateway will illuminate, confirming successful binding.
- After binding, the signal strength between devices will appear on the thermostat for a few seconds (1 being the lowest, 5 the highest). The normal screen will then display, including a symbol confirming the Gateway and thermostat are connected.
- Refer to your Gateway instructions to create an online account and download the smartphone app.
