FAQ's (CM707)
How do I change the batteries on the thermostat when they run out?
The thermostat monitors battery power, typically lasting about 2 years. A flashing [battery-low-symbol] indicates low power. Follow 'STEP 1: Installing the Batteries' (page 3) to replace them. Program settings are stored, but time may need adjustment.
How do I set one temperature for the whole day?
Select MAN (Manual) mode. Adjust the temperature using the [plus-button] or [minus-button] (5°C to 35°C in 0.5°C steps). The thermostat will maintain this temperature until the mode or temperature is changed.
What is a Programmable Room Thermostat?
A programmable room thermostat combines the functions of a programmer and a room thermostat. It allows you to set 'On' and 'Off' time periods to suit your lifestyle. It works by sensing air temperature, switching heating on when the temperature drops below the setpoint, and off when it's reached.
This means you can choose when heating is on and what temperature it should reach. You can select different temperatures for different times of the day and week to meet your needs.
Turning the thermostat to a higher setting does not heat the room faster; heating speed depends on the system design (e.g., boiler, radiators). Similarly, lowering the setting does not cool the room faster; it simply controls at a lower temperature, saving energy.
To use it effectively, find the lowest comfortable temperature settings for your chosen times and leave it. Start with lower temperatures (e.g., 18°C) and increase by one degree daily until comfortable. Adjusting higher wastes energy.
If your system uses a single thermostat for the whole house (e.g., boiler with radiators), choose a reasonable temperature for all rooms. If you have Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs), you can set a slightly higher temperature to ensure the coldest room is comfortable, then adjust TRVs to prevent overheating in others.
Ensure the programmer's time is correct, adjusting for Daylight Saving Time (British Summer Time) in spring and autumn.
Temporary adjustments like 'Override', 'Advance', or 'Boost' may be available, as explained in the manufacturer's instructions.
Programmable thermostats require unobstructed airflow for accurate temperature sensing. Do not cover them with curtains or block them with furniture. Nearby heat sources like electric fires, televisions, or lamps can affect performance.
