4. Product Description

4.1 Cooking Surface Layout

Diagram Description: The cooking surface features four induction cooking zones. The rear zones have a diameter of 180mm, and the front zones have a diameter of 210mm. Zone 1 indicates "Induction cooking zone", and Zone 2 indicates the "Control panel".

4.2 Control Panel Layout

Diagram Description: The control panel has 11 numbered sensor fields:

  1. ON/OFF
  2. Lock / Child Safety Device

  4. Heat setting display
  5. Timer indicators of cooking zones

Use sensor fields to operate the appliance. Displays, indicators, and sounds provide feedback on functions.

5.1 Activating and Deactivating

Touch for 1 second to activate or deactivate the hob.

5.2 Automatic Switch Off

The hob deactivates automatically if:

5.3 The Heat Setting

To set or change the heat setting, touch the control bar at the desired level or slide your finger along it.

5.4 Automatic Heat Up

This function achieves a desired heat setting faster. The zone operates at the highest setting initially, then continues at the desired setting.

To activate, the cooking zone must be cold. Touch P (P appears), then touch a desired heat setting. After 3 seconds, A appears.

To deactivate, change the heat setting.

5.5 PowerBoost

This function provides more power to induction zones for a limited time. After this period, the zone automatically reverts to the highest heat setting.

Refer to "Technical Data" chapter.

To activate, touch P (P appears). To deactivate, change the heat setting.

5.6 Timer

Count Down Timer: Set the duration for a cooking session.

  1. Set heat for the cooking zone, then set the timer function.
  2. To select the cooking zone: touch repeatedly until its indicator appears.
  3. To activate: touch + to set time (00-99 minutes). When the zone indicator flashes, the countdown begins.
  4. To view remaining time: touch to select the zone; the indicator flashes, showing remaining time.
  5. To change time: touch to select the zone, then touch + or -.
  6. To deactivate: touch to select the zone, then touch . The remaining time counts down to 00, and the zone indicator disappears.

When countdown ends, an acoustic signal sounds, and 00 flashes. The zone deactivates. To stop the sound, touch .

CountUp Timer: Monitor how long a cooking zone operates.

  1. To select the cooking zone: touch repeatedly until its indicator appears.
  2. To activate: touch . "UP" appears. When the zone indicator flashes, time counts up, alternating between "UP" and the time.
  3. To see operating time: touch to select the zone; the indicator flashes, showing the duration.
  4. To deactivate: touch and then + or -. The zone indicator disappears.

Minute Minder: Use when hob is active but zones are off. Heat setting display shows .

To activate: touch and then + or - to set time. When time finishes, an acoustic signal sounds, and 00 flashes. To stop sound, touch .

This function does not affect cooking zone operation.

5.7 Pause

Sets all active cooking zones to the lowest heat setting. Other control panel symbols are locked. Timer functions are not stopped.

Press || to activate. appears, and heat setting lowers to 1.

To deactivate: press ||. Previous heat setting resumes.

5.8 Lock

Locks the control panel during cooking to prevent accidental heat setting changes. Set heat setting first.

To activate: touch L. L appears for 4 seconds; Timer remains active.

To deactivate: touch . Previous heat setting resumes.

Deactivating the hob also deactivates this function.

5.9 Child Safety Device

Prevents accidental hob operation.

5.10 OffSound Control

(Deactivating and activating sounds)

Deactivate hob. Touch for 3 seconds (display on/off). Touch for 3 seconds ( or appears). Touch + of the Timer to select:

Confirm selection by waiting for automatic deactivation.

5.11 Power Management

If multiple zones are active and power demand exceeds supply limits, this function divides available power among zones. The hob adjusts heat settings to protect house fuses.

Refer to illustrations for possible power distribution combinations.

5.12 Hob²Hood

This function connects the hob to a compatible hood via infrared signal. Fan speed is automatically set based on mode and cookware temperature. Manual fan operation from the hob is also possible.

For most hoods, the remote system is deactivated by default; activate it before use (refer to hood manual).

Operating Automatically: Set automatic mode to H1-H6 (default H5). The hood reacts to hob operation, recognizing cookware temperature and adjusting fan speed.

¹⁾ Hob detects boiling and sets fan speed accordingly.

Changing Automatic Mode:

  1. Deactivate the appliance.
  2. Touch for 3 seconds (display on/off).
  3. Touch for 3 seconds.
  4. Touch until H appears.
  5. Touch + of the Timer to select a mode.

To operate the hood directly, deactivate automatic mode.

After deactivating the hob, the hood fan may continue to operate for a period. The system then deactivates the fan and prevents accidental activation for 30 seconds.

Operating Fan Speed Manually:

Touch when the hob is active to deactivate automatic operation and manually control fan speed. Press to increase speed. Reaching the intensive level and pressing again sets speed to 0 (deactivates fan). Touch to restart fan at speed 1.

To activate automatic operation, deactivate and reactivate the hob.

Activating the Light: Set automatic mode to H1-H6 to activate the hob's light automatically. The hood light deactivates 2 minutes after the hob is deactivated.

6.2 The Noises During Operation

Normal operating noises include:

These noises do not indicate a malfunction.

6.3 Öko Timer (Eco Timer)

To save energy, the cooking zone heater deactivates before the countdown timer sounds. The time difference depends on heat setting and cooking duration.

6.4 Examples of Cooking Applications

The correlation between heat setting and power consumption is not linear; increasing heat setting does not proportionally increase power consumption. Medium heat settings use less than half their power.

6.5 Hints and Tips for Hob²Hood

When operating the hob with the Hob²Hood function:

Diagram Description (Signal Interruption): Illustrates how objects like a pot handle or a tall pot can block the infrared signal path between the hob and the hood.

Other remotely controlled appliances may block the signal. Do not use them near the hob while Hob²Hood is active.

Cooker hoods with Hob²Hood function require the specific symbol. Refer to the consumer website for compatible hoods.
