- The last selected zone's heat setting is prioritized. Remaining power is divided among previously activated zones in reverse order.
- The heat setting display of reduced zones shows the initially selected and reduced settings.
- Wait for the display to stop flashing or reduce the heat setting of the last selected zone. Zones continue with reduced power. Adjust heat settings manually if needed.
Refer to illustrations for possible power distribution combinations.
5.12 Hob²Hood
This function connects the hob to a compatible hood via infrared signal. Fan speed is automatically set based on mode and cookware temperature. Manual fan operation from the hob is also possible.
For most hoods, the remote system is deactivated by default; activate it before use (refer to hood manual).
Operating Automatically: Set automatic mode to H1-H6 (default H5). The hood reacts to hob operation, recognizing cookware temperature and adjusting fan speed.
Automatic Modes Table:
Mode | Automatic Light | Boiling¹⁾ | Frying²⁾ |
---|---|---|---|
H0 | Off | Off | Off |
H1 | On | Off | Off |
H2 ³⁾ | On | Fan speed 1 | Fan speed 1 |

Operating Fan Speed Manually:
Touch when the hob is active to deactivate automatic operation and manually control fan speed. Press to increase speed. Reaching the intensive level and pressing again sets speed to 0 (deactivates fan). Touch to restart fan at speed 1.
To activate automatic operation, deactivate and reactivate the hob.
Activating the Light: Set automatic mode to H1-H6 to activate the hob's light automatically. The hood light deactivates 2 minutes after the hob is deactivated.
6. Hints and Tips
⚠️ WARNING: Refer to Safety chapters.
6.1 Cookware
Induction zones use a strong electromagnetic field for rapid heating.
Use suitable cookware:
- Bottom must be thick and flat.
- Ensure pan bases are clean and dry.
- Avoid sliding or rubbing pots on the ceramic glass to prevent scratches.
Cookware Material:
- Correct: Cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel, multi-layer bottom (with manufacturer marking).
- Not Correct: Aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic, porcelain.
Suitability Test:
- Water boils very quickly on the highest heat setting.
- A magnet sticks to the cookware bottom.
Cookware Dimensions:
- Induction zones adapt automatically to cookware bottom dimensions.
- Zone efficiency relates to cookware diameter. Smaller diameters receive less power.
- For safety and optimal results, do not use cookware larger than specified in "Cooking zones specification".
- Avoid placing cookware near the control panel to prevent accidental activation.
Refer to "Technical Data".
6.2 The Noises During Operation
Normal operating noises include:
- Crack noise: Cookware made of different materials (sandwich construction).
- Whistle sound: High power level with cookware of different materials.
- Humming: High power level.
- Clicking: Electric switching.
- Hissing, buzzing: Fan operation.
These noises do not indicate a malfunction.
6.3 Öko Timer (Eco Timer)
To save energy, the cooking zone heater deactivates before the countdown timer sounds. The time difference depends on heat setting and cooking duration.
6.4 Examples of Cooking Applications
The correlation between heat setting and power consumption is not linear; increasing heat setting does not proportionally increase power consumption. Medium heat settings use less than half their power.
Data in the table is for guidance only.
Heat setting | Use to: | Time (min) | Hints |
---|---|---|---|
0 | Keep cooked food warm. | as necessary | Put a lid on the cookware. |
1 - 3 | Hollandaise sauce, melt butter, chocolate, gelatine. | 5 - 25 | Mix from time to time. |
1 - 3 | Solidify: fluffy omelettes, baked eggs. | 10 - 40 | Cook with a lid on. |
3 - 5 | Simmer rice and milk-based dishes, heat up ready-cooked meals. | 25 - 50 | Add at least twice as much liquid as rice; mix milk dishes halfway through. |
5 - 7 | Steam vegetables, fish, meat. | 20 - 45 | Add a couple of tablespoons of liquid. |
7 - 9 | Steam potatoes. | 20 - 60 | Use max. 1¼ L of water for 750 g of potatoes. |
7 - 9 | Cook larger quantities of food, stews and soups. | 60 - 150 | Up to 3 L of liquid plus ingredients. |
9 - 12 | Gentle fry: escalope, veal cordon bleu, cutlets, rissoles, sausages, liver, roux, eggs, pancakes, doughnuts. | as necessary | Turn halfway through. |
12 - 13 | Heavy fry, hash browns, loin steaks, steaks. | 5 - 15 | Turn halfway through. |
14 | Boil water, cook pasta, sear meat (goulash, pot roast), deep-fry chips. | ||
P | Boil large quantities of water. PowerBoost is activated. |
6.5 Hints and Tips for Hob²Hood
When operating the hob with the Hob²Hood function:
- Protect the hood panel from direct sunlight.
- Do not direct halogen light onto the hood panel.
- Do not cover the hob control panel.
- Do not interrupt the signal between the hob and hood (e.g., with hand, pot handle, or tall pot).
Diagram Description (Signal Interruption): Illustrates how objects like a pot handle or a tall pot can block the infrared signal path between the hob and the hood.
Other remotely controlled appliances may block the signal. Do not use them near the hob while Hob²Hood is active.
Cooker hoods with Hob²Hood function require the specific symbol. Refer to the consumer website for compatible hoods.
7. Care and Cleaning
⚠️ WARNING: Refer to Safety chapters.
7.1 General Information
- Clean the hob after each use.
- Always use cookware with a clean base.
- Scratches or dark stains do not affect hob operation.
- Use a special cleaner suitable for the hob surface.
- Use a special scraper for the glass.
7.2 Cleaning the Hob
- Remove immediately: melted plastic, plastic foil, sugar, and food with sugar. Use a special hob scraper at an acute angle.
- When the hob is cool, remove limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discoloration with a moist cloth and non-abrasive detergent. Wipe dry.
- For shiny metallic discoloration, use a water-vinegar solution and clean the glass with a cloth.
