Block Diagram ?
The block diagram illustrates the internal components of the LDC-35 series LED driver. Input power (I/P) passes through an EMI Filter & Rectifiers, then to a Power Switching stage controlled by PWM & PFC Control. Over-Temperature Protection (O.T.P.) and Over-Load Protection (O.L.P.) are integrated. The output stage includes Rectifiers & Filter, a Current sense (CP), and Over-Voltage Protection (O.V.P.). The control signals for DIM+ and DIM- (for B-Type) are generated by the Detection Circuit. Case Ground is also indicated. The diagram notes PFC fosc: 50~400KHz and PWM fosc: 30~200KHz.
Output Current Setting ?
The I-V Operating Area defines the relationship between output voltage and current. The output rated current level can be adjusted by an additive resistance.
I-V Operating Area Graph
A graph titled 'OUTPUT CURRENT SETTING' plots Voltage (0V to 60V) on the Y-axis against Current (100mA to 1100mA) on the X-axis. A shaded region, labeled LDC-35, shows the operational area, extending from approximately 27V/300mA up to 56V/1000mA, with a maximum voltage of 60V and a maximum current of 1000mA.

Dimming Operation ?️
3 in 1 Dimming Function (for B-Type)
Output constant current level can be adjusted by applying one of the three methodologies between DIM+ and DIM-: 0~10VDC, 10V PWM signal, or resistance. Direct connection to LEDs is suggested, and it's not suitable for use with additional drivers. Dimming source current from the power supply is approximately 100µA (typ.).
0~10VDC Dimming
A circuit diagram shows Vo+, Vo-, DIM+, and DIM- terminals connected to an 'Additive Voltage' circuit. A graph plots 'Output current (%)' (0% to 100%) against 'Dimming input: Additive voltage' (0V to 10V). The output current is proportional to the input voltage.
10V PWM Signal Dimming
A circuit diagram shows Vo+, Vo-, DIM+, and DIM- terminals connected to an 'Additive PWM signal' circuit. A graph plots 'Output current (%)' (0% to 100%) against 'Duty cycle of additive 10V PWM signal dimming input' (0% to 100%). The output current is proportional to the PWM duty cycle.
Additive Resistance Dimming
A circuit diagram shows Vo+, Vo-, DIM+, and DIM- terminals connected to an 'Additive Resistance' circuit. A graph plots 'Output current (%)' (0% to 100%) against 'Dimming input: Additive resistance' (Short to 100K/N Ω). The output current decreases as the resistance value increases.
Notes:
- Min. dimming level is about 8% and the output current is not defined when 0%< Iout<8%.
- The output current could drop down to 0% when dimming input is about 0Vdc or 10V PWM signal with 0% duty cycle.
- To ensure the dimming performance at low dimming level, output current must be over 45mA.
DALI Interface (Primary Side)
Apply DALI signal between DA+ and DA-. DALI protocol comprises 16 groups and 64 addresses. The first step is fixed at 8% of rated output power.
Push Dimming (Primary Side)
Action | Action duration | Function |
---|---|---|
Short push | 0.1~1 sec. | Turn ON-OFF the driver |
Long push | 1.5~10 sec. | Every Long Push changes the dimming direction, dimming up or down |
Reset | >11 sec. | Set up the dimming level to 100% |
Details:
- The factory default dimming level is at 100%.
- If the push action lasts less than 0.05 sec., it will not lead to a change for the status of the driver.
- Up to 10 drivers can perform the PUSH dimming at the same time when utilizing one common push button.
- The maximum length of the cable from the push button to the last driver is 20 meters.
- The additive push button can be connected only between the LS terminal and AC/L (in brown or black); it will lead to short circuit if it is connected to AC/N.
NOTE: DALI, Push dimming can not be used in the same time! (The factory setting defaults to DA)
Temperature Compensation Operation ?️
LDC-35 has the built-in temperature compensation function. By connecting a temperature sensor (NTC resistor) between the +NTC/-NTC terminal of LDC-35 and the detecting point on the lighting system or the surrounding environment, the output current of LDC-35 could be correspondingly changed, based on the sensed temperature, to ensure the long life of LED.
A circuit diagram shows connections for Vo+, Vo-, NTC, IADJ, DIM+, and DIM- terminals, with an NTC resistor connected to the NTC terminals.
LDC-35 can still be operated normally when the NTC resistor is not connected and the value of output current will be the current level selected through the IADJ. pin.
NTC Reference
NTC resistance | Output Current |
---|---|
<20K | Output current reduces as the resistance decreases |
>20K | Normal output current |
Notes:
- MEAN WELL does not offer the NTC resistor and all the data above are measured by using resistor.
- If new brand of NTC resistor is applied, please check the temperature curve first.
Dimming function of the driver will be invalid when the "temperature compensation" function is in use.
Performance Graphs ?
Output Load vs Temperature
Two graphs illustrate load derating: one against ambient temperature (Ta) and another against case temperature (Tcase).
- Ambient Temperature: 'LOAD (%)' (0-100%) vs. 'AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, Ta (°C)' (-25 to 80). Load is 100% up to 50°C, derating to 50% at 60°C, and 0% above 60°C.
- Case Temperature: 'LOAD (%)' (0-100%) vs. 'Tcase (°C)' (-25 to 80). Load is 100% up to 80°C.
Static Characteristic
'LOAD (%)' (40-100%) vs. 'INPUT VOLTAGE (V) 60Hz' (180 to 295V). Load is 100% across the specified input voltage range.
Power Factor (PF) Characteristic
'PF' (0.88-1.00) vs. 'LOAD (230Vac Input)' (50% to 100%), shown for 277V and 230V inputs. PF is high, generally above 0.95.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
'THD' (2-10) vs. 'LOAD' (50% to 100%), shown for 277V and 230V inputs. THD is typically below 10%.
Efficiency vs Load
'EFFICIENCY (%)' (76-92%) vs. 'LOAD' (50% to 100%), shown for 277V and 230V inputs. Efficiency reaches up to 90%.
Life Time
'LIFETIME(Kh)' (0-120) vs. 'Tcase (°C)' (20 to 80). Lifetime is approximately 100Kh up to around 65°C, decreasing sharply thereafter.
Mechanical Specification ?
Overall dimensions are 280mm (Length) x 30mm (Width) x 21mm (Height). The maximum case temperature is indicated as 'tc'.
