IKEA ALEX Drawer Unit Assembly Instructions

Assembly Steps

Step 1

Attach two side panels to the base panel. Insert 6 dowels (101345) into the pre-drilled holes on the edges of the base panel. Align the side panels with the base panel and secure them using 6 screws (112996) inserted through the side panels into the base.

Step 2

Attach the back panel support to the base. Insert 4 dowels (101345) into the base panel. Align the back panel support and secure it.

Step 3

Attach the back panel support to the side panels. Insert 6 cam locks (102509) into the side panels. Insert 6 cam lock screws (103114) into the back panel support. Connect the back panel support to the side panels and tighten the cam locks by turning them with a screwdriver.

Step 4

Attach the top panel. Insert 6 screws (112996) through the pre-drilled holes in the top panel into the top edges of the side panels.

Step 5

Attach the second side panel. Insert 4 dowels (101345) into the base panel. Align the second side panel with the base and the back panel support, and secure it.

Step 6

Attach the back panel support to the second side panel. Insert 6 cam locks (102509) into the second side panel. Insert 6 cam lock screws (103114) into the back panel support. Connect the back panel support to the side panel and tighten the cam locks.

Step 7

Attach the back panel. Insert 4 dowels (101345) into the base panel. Align the back panel with the unit and secure it.

Step 8

Secure the main frame. Insert 6 screws (100214) through the side panels into the back panel support. Use the Allen key (100001) to tighten these screws.

Step 9

Attach the drawer runners to the main unit's side panels. Insert 4 cam lock nuts (119363) into the designated holes on the side panels. Insert 4 cam lock screws (119363) into the drawer runners. Attach the drawer runners to the side panels and tighten the cam locks.

Step 10

Prepare the drawer boxes. The diagram shows two drawer boxes being assembled, one requiring 2x screws (112996) and another requiring 3x screws (112996) for assembly.

Step 11

Assemble drawer sides. Insert 2 dowels (101345) into the drawer side panels. Attach the drawer runners to the drawer side panels using 2 screws (part number not specified in diagram inset, likely a standard screw).

Step 12

Secure drawer runners. Insert 2 cam locks (103114) into the drawer side panels. Insert 2 cam lock screws (103114) into the drawer runners. Connect the runners to the side panels and tighten the cam locks.

Step 13

Insert the assembled drawer box into the main unit frame.

Step 14

Attach drawer fronts. Insert 4 screws (110519) through the pre-drilled holes in the drawer front into the drawer box. Gently tap the screws in with a hammer if needed.

Step 15

Attach drawer fronts. Insert 4 screws (112996) through the pre-drilled holes in the drawer front into the drawer box.

Step 16

Attach side panels to the drawer assembly.

Step 17

Attach drawer runners to the drawer side panels. Insert 4 cam locks (103114) into the side panels. Insert 4 cam lock screws (103114) into the drawer runners. Connect the runners to the side panels and tighten the cam locks.

Step 18

Insert the assembled drawer box into the main unit frame.

Step 19

Attach drawer fronts. Insert 4 screws (110519) through the pre-drilled holes in the drawer front into the drawer box. Gently tap the screws in with a hammer if needed.

Step 20

Insert the completed drawers into the main unit. The unit accommodates multiple drawers, with examples showing assembly requiring 2x or 3x screws (112996) per drawer.

Step 21

Secure the drawers. From the inside of the drawer box, insert 2 screws (105021) through the drawer front into the drawer box. Use the Allen key (100001) to tighten these screws to secure the drawer front.

Final Check and Warning

The ALEX drawer unit is now assembled. Ensure all connections are secure. ⚠️ Warning: Do not stack ALEX drawer units on top of each other. This can cause instability and tipping.
