Tenda Wi-Fi 7 Router Quick Installation Guide

This guide provides instructions for setting up your Tenda Wi-Fi 7 Router (RE6L Pro/TE6L Pro/RE3L/TE3L) as a router or an add-on node.

Scenario 1: Set Up the Device as a Router

I. Connect the Router

1. Power source: Connect the power adapter to the router and a power outlet.

2. Connect the WAN port of the router to the LAN port of your modem or the Ethernet jack using an Ethernet cable. The 2.5GE port is recommended if available. If using a modem, power it off before connecting, then power it on after the connection.

Relocation Tips: Place the router in a high position with few obstacles, away from electronics with strong interference (e.g., microwave ovens, induction cookers, refrigerators), and metal barriers.

3. Power on the router.

II. Connect the Router to the Internet

1. Connect your wireless client (e.g., smartphone) to the router's Wi-Fi network. The default Wi-Fi name (SSID) is on the device label. There is no Wi-Fi password by default.

2. The page will automatically redirect to the router's web UI. If not, disable mobile data, open a browser, and visit tendawifi.com.

3. Perform operations as prompted.

  • DHCP Connection: Set Wi-Fi name, Wi-Fi password, and router login password. Tap Next.
  • PPPoE Connection: Select ISP Type, enter required parameters (username and password from your ISP if needed). Set Wi-Fi name, Wi-Fi password, and router login password. Tap Next.

Tips: The Wi-Fi password is for connecting to the Wi-Fi network; the login password is for accessing the router's web UI.

Done. When the indicator is solid green, the network connection is successful. The router supports IPv6, which is enabled by default.

To access the internet:

  • Wi-Fi-enabled devices: Connect to the router's new Wi-Fi network. 5G Wi-Fi is recommended.
  • Wired devices: Connect to an Ethernet port of the router using an Ethernet cable.

Note: The device performs Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS). Connect to Wi-Fi after about 90 seconds. Clients need to support 802.11be for Wi-Fi 7 speeds.

Scenario 2: Set Up as an Add-on Node

This router can be networked with Tenda WiFi+ routers. Ensure the existing router (primary node) is connected to the internet and the router to be added (secondary node) has never been used. Reset the router if necessary.

I. Add the Router to an Existing Network

  1. Place the router within 3 meters of your existing router.
  2. Connect the router to a power source using the power adapter.
  3. Press the networking button of the router for 1-3 seconds (indicator blinks green quickly). Within 2 minutes, press the networking button of the existing router for 1-3 seconds to negotiate.

When the indicator lights solid green, networking is successful, and the router becomes a secondary node.

To access the internet:

  • Wi-Fi-enabled devices: Connect to your Wi-Fi network (Wi-Fi name and password are the same as the existing router).
  • Wired devices: Connect to an Ethernet port of any router using an Ethernet cable.

II. Relocate the Router

  1. Ensure the distance between any two nodes is less than 10 meters. Keep routers away from interference sources and metal barriers. Place them in high, open positions.
  2. Power on the router again.
  3. Wait 1-2 minutes. If the indicator is solid green, the connection is good. Otherwise, move the secondary node closer to the primary node.

Internet Connection with NFC

Connect NFC-enabled devices to the router's Wi-Fi with one touch. Only NFC-enabled Android or HarmonyOS phones/tablets support this.

  1. Write Wi-Fi information to NFC stickers:
    • Install and register the Tenda WiFi App by scanning the QR code.
    • Manage the router via the App, navigate to the NFC Sticker section.
    • Select the Wi-Fi name and tap 'Write NFC Sticker'.
    • Place the NFC sticker near the phone's NFC area. The Wi-Fi information will be written.
    • Place the NFC sticker in a visible location for easy access. NFC stickers can be rewritten.
  2. Connect your phone to the internet:
    • Ensure NFC is enabled and the screen is unlocked and active.
    • Place the NFC sticker near the phone's NFC area.
    • When prompted 'Connect to network', tap CONNECT to join the Wi-Fi without encryption.

FAQ

Q1: I cannot log in to the web UI by visiting tendawifi.com. What should I do?

A1: Try http://tendawifi.com or http://192.168.0.1. Ensure your Wi-Fi device is connected to the router's Wi-Fi and mobile data is disabled. For wired devices, ensure they are connected to a LAN port and set to obtain IP/DNS automatically. If the problem persists, reset the router.

Q2: I cannot access the internet after the configuration. What should I do?

A2: Ensure the WAN port is connected correctly. Log in to the web UI and check Internet Settings. For Wi-Fi devices, reconnect after changing Wi-Fi name/password. For wired devices, ensure they are set to obtain IP/DNS automatically.

Q3: Some computers cannot search router's Wi-Fi. What should I do?

A3: Change the network mode to exclude 802.11ax and 802.11be. Update the wireless network adapter driver if necessary. If only 2.4G Wi-Fi is visible, check 5G band support and try changing the 5G Wi-Fi channel.

Q4: How to restore the router to factory settings?

A4: With the router powered on, press and hold the reset (RST) button for about 8 seconds until the indicator blinks red fast. Release the button; the router will reset and reboot.
