Care of Your Fan
- Periodically check support connections, brackets, and blade attachments (twice a year) to ensure they are secure.
- Clean your fan with a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the finish. Plated finishes are sealed with lacquer. Do not use water, as it can damage the motor or wood blades and cause electrical shock.
- Use a lint-free, lightly damp cloth or duster to remove dust from the blades.
- No oiling is needed; the motor has permanently lubricated bearings.
- If your fan has glass shades, clean them with lukewarm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. DO NOT IMMERSE GLASS SHADES IN HOT WATER or place them in an automatic dishwasher.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF AT THE ELECTRICAL PANEL BOX BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT ANY REPAIRS. REFER TO THE "ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS" SECTION.
Troubleshooting
Fan will not start
- Check if the wall switch is turned on.
- Check circuit fuses or breakers.
- Caution! Ensure power is off before proceeding with wire checks.
- Remove canopy and check wire connections.
- Check wall control transmitter connections (if applicable).
- Note: Fan must be installed within 40 feet of the transmitting unit for proper signal transmission.
Fan Sounds Noisy
- Allow a 24-hour "break-in" period; most noises resolve during this time.
- Ensure screws attaching the fan blade holder to the motor hub are tight.
- Verify the outlet box is securely fastened to the building structure; use provided wood screws to secure to joist if necessary.
- Ensure the hanger bracket is securely attached to the outlet box with tight screws.
Fan Wobble
- NOTE: Blade sets are grouped by weight. Wood and plastic blades vary in density, which can cause wobble even if blades are matched.
- Verify the outlet box is securely fastened to the building structure; use provided wood screws to secure to joist if necessary.
- Ensure the hanger bracket is securely attached to the outlet box with tight screws.
- If a balancing kit is provided, follow its instructions to correct excessive wobble.
Fans/Light Turn on and Off Unexpectedly
- This is often caused by interference. Refer to the "Frequency Interference" section for steps to change the frequency.
Frequency Interference
SOLUTION:
- Turn the power off to your ceiling fan.
- Use a small tool to change the frequency settings on the control system.
- Return power to the unit.
- Note: After power is on, do not press any other button on the transmitter before pressing the "Stop" button, or the procedure will fail.
- Within 60 seconds of turning the fan's AC power ON, press and hold the transmitter's "Stop" button for 10 seconds.
- Once the receiver detects the set frequency, the down light will blink twice, and the fan will rotate briefly before shutting off.
- The receiver has now learned the selected frequency. You should now be able to operate the fan and light. If the fan is unresponsive, turn off power to the receiver and repeat the process.
