How to Convert Sofa-bed Module to Bed

The VALLENTUNA sofa-bed module readily converts into a bed. Follow these steps:

1. Pull out the bed frame.
2. Lift and fold the mattress.
3. Slide the mattress into the frame.
4. The sofa is now converted into a bed.

Fabric Testing

IKEA tests fabric covers on sofas and armchairs for durability. Abrasion resistance is tested using a machine rubbing fabric against another fabric under pressure. Fabrics enduring 15,000 cycles are suitable for everyday home use, while those exceeding 30,000 cycles are highly resistant to abrasion. All fabrics are tested for resistance to fading from sunlight.

Durability Factors

Durability depends on materials, construction, and usage. Heavy, tightly woven fabrics with a flat surface offer the best abrasion resistance. Fabrics with a blend of natural and synthetic fibers are more durable than those with only natural fibers. Yarn-dyed fabrics are more durable than printed fabrics. Clean covers wear better than dirty ones, and usage also affects fabric longevity.

• Hillared: 55% cotton, 25% polyester, 12% viscose/rayon, 8% linen. Structured surface with irregular yarns and material blends. Yarn-dyed in tonal shades for a natural feel. Washing instructions: Machine washable at 40°C. Resistance to abrasion: 30,000 cycles. Lightfastness: 5 (1-8 scale).

Coated Fabric

Coated fabric is a fabric material with a coating, which can be embossed to resemble leather. It is strong, durable, and easy to care for by vacuuming with a soft brush attachment and wiping with a damp cloth.

All IKEA coated fabrics are treated for protection and ease of care. They are tested and approved for tear strength, flexibility, and color fastness.

Coated Fabric Details:

• Murum: 100% polyester base, 100% polyurethane surface. Fixed coated fabric cover with a characteristic surface depth, matte finish, and stable feel. Care instructions: Vacuum clean. Light stains can be removed with a sponge dampened in water or a mild soapy solution. Resistance to abrasion: 50,000 cycles. Lightfastness: 5 (1-8 scale).
