The back cushions, filled with polyester fibers and cut foam, offer good lumbar support and maintain their shape and comfort over time. A thoughtful detail is that the back cushions are reversible for extended freshness, and the covers can be removed and machine-washed when needed.

All fabrics are sensitive to sunlight, and IKEA checks that fabrics resist fading effectively.

Durability is influenced by materials, construction, and usage. Heavy, tightly woven fabrics with a flat surface offer the best abrasion resistance. Fabrics blending natural and synthetic fibers tend to be more durable than those made solely of natural fibers. Yarn-dyed fabrics are more durable than printed fabrics. Clean covers wear better than dirty ones, and usage also plays a role.
