Chapter 1. Operating Instructions
LED Indicator Meanings:
- Blue LED Indicator: Solid light when power is on; flashes when accessing data.
- Green LED Indicator: Flashes once when a button is pressed; solid light when the drive is unlocked.
- Orange LED Indicator: Solid light when password management mode is active (during password creation or change), turns off upon completion.
- Red LED Indicator: Flashes on incorrect password entry or operation; solid light when lock mode is activated / turns off after locking.

Chapter 2. Quick Start Guide
Note
For your security, we strongly recommend changing the default password. The password length must be between 5 and 12 digits.
Warning
After 20 unsuccessful password attempts, the device will lock and initialize the drive; it will then require reformatting. Refer to the section "Initializing and Formatting the Verbatim Hard Drive/Solid State Drive" and follow the instructions.
- Connect the encrypted hard/solid state drive to your computer.
- Enter the default password, then press the "Unlock" button to confirm. (Default password is "00000".)
- The red LED indicator should not be lit, and the green LED indicator should be solid. This means the hard/solid state drive has been successfully unlocked.
- Open "My Computer" and ensure the external hard/solid state drive is ready for use.

Chapter 3. Changing the Password
- Press and hold the [Lock symbol] button, then connect the USB cable to the drive and computer. Wait for the red and orange LED indicators to light up. You can then release the [Lock symbol] button.
- Enter the current password (default password: "00000") and press the [Lock symbol] button to confirm. The orange LED indicator will turn off.
- Enter your new password and confirm it by pressing the [Lock symbol] button.
- Re-enter the password from step 3 and press the [Lock symbol] button again; the red LED indicator should turn off.
- Your device is now unlocked again.

Chapter 4. Erasing the Drive and Setting a New Password
Note
Before setting a new password, we recommend backing up your data. For the security of your data, the drive is initialized when setting a new password; to format the drive, follow the instructions in the "Ready for Use" section.
- Press and hold keys 1 and 2 simultaneously, then connect the USB cable to the drive and computer. Release both buttons when the red LED indicator next to key 2 lights up.
- Now press the [Unlock symbol] for 5 seconds until the orange LED indicator lights up.
- Enter your new password and confirm it by pressing the [Unlock symbol]; the orange LED indicator will turn off.
- The password is now set.
- Re-enter your new password set in step 3. Then press the [Unlock symbol]; the red LED indicator will turn off.
- Your device is now unlocked.
- When setting a new password, the volume is initialized; to format the drive, follow the instructions on the following pages.

Chapter 5. Initializing and Formatting the Verbatim Hard Drive/Solid State Drive
Note
Remember that the operations listed below apply only after creating a new password, as described in Chapter 4!
(Actions for Windows 7/8/10 OS)
- Right-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.
- Select "Manage".
- Select "Storage" -> "Disk Management".
- The Disk Manager in your system will automatically recognize the uninitialized disk.
- Select the partition style "GPT (GUID PARTITION TABLE)" and confirm your choice by clicking OK.

- Select the hard drive that is currently "Unallocated".

- Right-click on the "Unallocated" space and select the "New Partition" option. The New Partition Wizard will start.
- Complete the formatting by following the wizard's prompts.
- Recommendation: You do not need to change the default settings of the specified wizard. You may only need to change the disk description and select the file system.
- Upon completion of the installation process, the drive should automatically appear again in the list with the assigned drive letter and name.
(Actions for Mac OSx)
- After connecting the drive to your Mac computer and unlocking it, the OSx system will detect an unreadable disk.
- Click the "Initialise..." button to launch the disk management utility.
- In the disk management utility, you need to select the specific external drive.
Please note that the Store 'n' Go Secure Portable HDD/SSD with Keypad Access will lose its original description, name, and brand name. To avoid incorrect selection, it is strongly recommended to disconnect other external drives before proceeding with the following steps. Also, ensure that no internal computer drives are selected.
- Select the only available external disk.
- On the Disk Utility toolbar, select "Erase" to go to the formatting dialog box.

- In the next dialog box, you can assign a name for the drive and the file system format.

- Click "Erase" to start the formatting process.
Limited Warranty Conditions
Verbatim GmbH warrants this product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover batteries. If a defect is found within the warranty period, the product will be replaced free of charge. You can return the product to the store where it was purchased (with the original sales receipt) or contact Verbatim. Product replacement is your sole remedy under this warranty. This warranty does not apply in case of normal wear and tear or damage to the product due to improper use, misuse, excessive load, negligence, or accident, or due to any incompatibility or malfunction in connection with the use of any equipment or software.
VERBATIM IS NOT LIABLE FOR DATA LOSS OR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES, HOWEVER CAUSED, FOR BREACH OF WARRANTY OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY.
This warranty gives the user specific legal rights, and they may also have other rights depending on the state, region, or country of residence.
