ASUS PRIME Z790-P WIFI Motherboard Quick Start Guide
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and setting up your ASUS PRIME Z790-P WIFI motherboard.
Motherboard Layout
The motherboard features various connectors and slots for components. Key areas include:
- CPU Socket (LGA1700)
- DDR5 DIMM slots (DIMM_A1, DIMM_A2, DIMM_B1, DIMM_B2)
- M.2 slots (M.2_1, M.2_2, M.2_3) for storage, including one for WIFI

Installation Steps
Step 1: Install the CPU
Carefully align the CPU with the socket and lower the retention arm.
Step 2: Install the CPU fan
Mount the CPU cooler according to its specific instructions.
Step 3: Install memory modules
Open the clips on the DIMM slots, align the memory module notch with the slot key, and press down firmly until the clips lock into place.
Step 4: Install storage devices
Install M.2 SSDs into the designated M.2 slots. Refer to the user guide for specific M.2 installation details.
Step 5: Install expansion card(s)
Open the retention clip on the appropriate PCIe slot, align the expansion card with the slot, and press down firmly until it is seated.
Step 6: Install the system panel connector
Connect the system panel connectors (power switch, reset switch, HDD LED, power LED) to the corresponding pins on the motherboard.
Step 7: Install ATX power connectors
Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector and the 8-pin or 4+4 pin ATX 12V power connector to the motherboard.
Step 8: Connect input/output devices
Connect your monitor (HDMI/DisplayPort), keyboard, mouse, Ethernet cable, and other peripherals to the rear I/O panel.
Step 9: Power on the system and install operating system and drivers
Connect the power cord, turn on the system, and proceed to install your operating system and necessary drivers.
