Introduction

The smart Wi-Fi plug is small enough to avoid blocking adjacent wall outlets. It monitors the connected appliances' energy usage to help save your energy bills. Its 4 safety protection ensures your household's safety. The plug enables you to easily control your lights and household electronic devices via the Tapo app on your iOS or Android devices, no matter where you find yourself.

• Energy Monitoring: Offers more intuitive data visualizations and supports setting electricity rates to estimate energy bills.
• Schedule: Turn on and off the connected device automatically at a specific time.
• Timer: Set a one-time countdown timer to turn off the connected device.
• Voice Control: Compatibility with Matter-certified voice assistants allows you to use simple voice commands to control the smart plug.
• Remote Control: Use the Tapo app to control the smart plug at any time from anywhere.
• Away Mode: Turn plugged-in devices on/off randomly to simulate someone being at home.
• Device Sharing: Easily share management permissions with each member of your family.

Appearance

The Tapo Mini Smart Wi-Fi Plug is available in different regional versions (EU, FR, AU, UK). Key components include the System LED, Smart Socket, and Power Button.

System LED Status

• Blinking orange and green: Ready for setup
• Blinking orange: Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
• Solid orange: Connected to Wi-Fi or disconnected from the Wi-Fi; offline
• Solid green: Connected to server and working properly
• Blinking green: Being reset; being upgraded

Smart Socket

Plug in your device and control it from the Tapo app on your phone/tablet.

Power Button Functions

• Press once: Turn on or off the smart plug.
• Press and hold for 5 seconds: Keep the existing settings except Wi-Fi.
• Press and hold for 10 seconds: Restore your smart plug to factory default settings.

Matter Setup Code

[QR code for Matter setup] with the numeric code 1234-567-8901. This code is for Matter initial setup. A similar code label can be found in the package.

Set Up Your Smart Plug via Tapo

Follow the steps below to get started with your new smart plug, or visit https://www.tp-link.com/support/setup-video/ for a setup video.

1. Step 1. Download Tapo App

   Get the Tapo app from the App Store [App Store download button] or Google Play [Google Play download button], or by scanning the QR code below [QR code for app download].

2. Step 2. Log In

   Open the app, and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don't have an account, create one first.

3. Step 3. Add Your Plug

   Tap the [+] button in the Tapo app, choose 'Plugs' under the Tapo brand, and select your model. Follow the instructions in the Tapo app to complete the setup.

Set Up via Matter

This is a Matter-certified device. You can integrate it into any Matter ecosystem you prefer for easy control, such as Alexa, Google, and Apple ecosystems. As IoT manufacturers are working to optimize the user experience of Matter setup, the setup process and user experience should improve over time. Follow the instructions below to set up your smart device via the Matter app.

Before You Start

• Get a Matter Controller: This is needed to connect and manage Matter devices on your home network. For instance, Apple TV and HomePod are examples of Matter controllers. For details, please refer to Part 3. General Questions for TP-Link Matter-enabled Devices at https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/3520/.
• Reset Your Device: It's important to start with a fresh device.
• Connect to Wi-Fi: Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as your Matter controller. Choose the 2.4 GHz network if 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks are separate.
• Access Matter Setup Mode: This mode turns off 15 minutes after the device is powered up. To return to setup, simply turn your device off and then back on.
• Locate Matter Setup Code: Look for a QR code or a numeric code on your device or in its packaging. Snap a picture of it for future reference.
• Regarding the Matter Code: The original Matter code can only be used for setup in one app (you can reuse it after a device reset). If you wish to set it up in multiple apps, generate a new code using the first app for all subsequent ones.

How to Set Up

*Setup processes may vary between different apps.

1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
2. Open the smart home app, and either scan the Matter QR code or input the given numeric code.
3. Connect your device to the same network as your controller.
4. Follow the instructions in the app to complete setup.

Failed to Set Up?

Refer to the following to resolve most setup issues.

1. Update Firmware: Make sure the firmware of your Matter hub and Smart Home app is updated to support Matter.
2. Restart: Try turning off and then turning back on your device and the controller. Restart your smartphone and clear the cache of the smart home app.
3. Check IPv6: Ensure that IPv6 is activated on your router. Visit our FAQ for step-by-step guidance at https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1525/.
4. Enable Setup Mode: Restart your device to re-enter setup mode since Bluetooth should be turned off in 15 minutes after the device is powered up.
5. Regarding the Matter Code: The original Matter code can only be used for setup in one app (you can reuse it after a device reset). If you wish to set it up in multiple apps, generate a new code using the first app for all subsequent ones.
6. Stay on the Code-Generating Page: Do not close the pairing code-generating page in the multi-admin setup. Otherwise, this may lead to exiting the setup mode. If you accidentally close the page after generating the pairing code before adding the device to another ecosystem, you can try to reopen it. If the reopening fails, it is recommended to restart the device and try to generate the pairing code again.
7. Factory Reset Your Device: Try to factory reset the device.
8. Matter Device Already Added: If the Matter-enabled device has already been added to another ecosystem, you will need to get a new setup code for pairing according to the FAQ on how to integrate your device into another ecosystem.

If the above steps did not help solve your problem, it's recommended that you try to factory reset the Matter-enabled device or use another smartphone to configure it.

Safety Information

• ⚠️ Keep the device away from water, fire, humidity or hot environments.
• ❌ Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device. If you need service, please contact TP-Link.
• ❌ Do not use the device where wireless devices are not allowed.
• The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
• The devices are not intended for use in locations where the temperature may be less than actual room conditions, such as unheated warehouses or garages.
• ❌ Devices of the same or another type should not be stacked in normal use.

• ⚡ Do not overload power outlets. This can result in the risk of fire or electric shock.
• Completely insert the product into the power outlet. Failure to do so may cause electric shock and / or excessive heat resulting in fire.

• The function switch of Micro-gap construction / Micro-disconnection is used. Power is completely off only when the plug has been withdrawn from the Tapo smart socket. Automatic action type of the integrated switch: Micro-disconnection (Type 1.B), Micro-gap construction (For UK version).
