Installing Your Fan Control
Installation for Ceiling Fans with One Wall Switch (Single Pole)
This guide covers single-pole installations. For 3-way switch applications, visit www.casetawireless.com/3way for instructions and videos.
WARNING: SHOCK HAZARD. May result in serious injury or death. Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse before installing.
Step 1: Install the Fan
Install the fan according to the manufacturer's instructions and ensure proper operation.
Step 2: Set Fan Speed
Use the fan's pull chain to set the fan speed to the highest setting.
Step 3: Turn Off Power
Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse.
Step 4: Remove Existing Switch
Remove the wallplate and the existing switch from the wall. Tag the load wire. Disconnect all wires from the switch.
[Diagram: Existing switch wiring with wires labeled Ground, Line/Hot, and Load. The load wire is indicated for tagging.]
*If your switch has more than 3 wires, consult the 3-way installation video at www.casetawireless.com/3way.
Step 5: Remove Side Sections (If Necessary)
For multi-gang installations, remove side sections of the control as needed to fit the box. Controls at the ends of a gang require only inner side sections removed. Controls in the middle require all side sections removed.
[Diagram: Illustrates which side sections to remove for controls in single-gang, two-gang (end), and two-gang (middle) installations.]
Step 6: Connect the Fan Control
- Connect the bare copper or green ground wire from the wallbox to the green wire on the fan control using a wire connector.
- Wrap the line/hot wire around the appropriate screw terminal on the fan control and tighten securely (5 in-lb / 0.55 N•m).
- Connect the neutral wire from the wallbox to the white wire on the fan control using a wire connector.
- Connect the load wire from the wallbox to the yellow wire on the fan control using a wire connector.
[Diagram: Shows the fan control with terminals labeled for Ground (green wire), Line/Hot (terminal screw), Neutral (white wire), and Load (yellow wire), illustrating the connections.]
Step 7: Mount the Fan Control
Secure the fan control in the wallbox using the provided screws.
Step 8: Attach the Wallplate
Attach the adapter plate to the fan control using the provided screws, then snap the wallplate into place. Ensure the wallplate has the correct number of openings for all installed devices.
Step 9: Turn On Power
Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
