This guide provides instructions for operating the ZTE Z233 mobile phone.

Getting to Know the Home Screen

The home screen is the central point for accessing applications, functions, and menus. Key elements include:

Taking a Picture

  1. From the home screen, select [camera] Camera.
  2. Aim the camera at the subject and make any necessary adjustments.
  3. Press the Center Key or the Camera Key to take a picture.

Camera Functions:

1 Make adjustments and change camera settings.
2 Switch to the camcorder.
3 Capture a photo.
4 View photos and videos you have taken.
5 Return to the previous screen.

Recording a Video

  1. From the home screen, select [camera] Camera. (Alternatively, press the Camera Key from the home or apps screen to launch the Camera app.)
  2. Press Left on the 4-Way Navigation Key to switch to the camcorder. The shutter button will turn red.
  3. Aim the camera at the subject and make any necessary adjustments. (Press the Volume Key to zoom in or out before and during recording.)
  4. Press the Center Key or the Camera Key to start recording. (Press the Left Soft Key to pause and resume recording.)
  5. Press the Center Key or the Camera Key again to stop recording.

Opening the Gallery

From the Home screen, select [gallery] Gallery to view albums of your pictures and videos.

Voicemail

Setting Up Voicemail

  1. From the home screen, select [settings] Settings > Device > Call settings > Carrier Setting > Voicemail.
  2. Select from the following voicemail settings:
    • Service: Select the voicemail service provider. Your carrier is the default.
    • Setup: View or edit the voicemail number.
    • Sound: Set the notification sound for new voicemails.
    • Vibrate: Enable vibration for notifications.

Getting Started: The Battery

Installing the battery

  1. Place your finger in the slot at the bottom of the back cover to lift and remove the cover.
  2. Insert the battery by aligning the metal contacts on the battery with the gold contacts in the battery compartment. Gently push down on the battery until it clicks into place.
  3. Press the cover gently back into place until you hear a click.

Removing the battery

  1. Remove the back cover.
  2. Lift the battery up and out.

Charging the Battery

  1. Connect the adapter to the charging port. Ensure the adapter is inserted with the correct orientation. Do not force the connector into the charging port.
  2. Connect the charger to a standard AC wall outlet. If the phone is on, a [charging indicator] will appear in the Status Bar.
  3. Disconnect the charger when the battery is fully charged.

Turning The Phone On / Off

Turn Phone On

Press and hold the Power/End Key to turn on your phone.

Turn Phone Off

Press and hold the Power/End Key to open the options menu. Select Power off [ok] > OK.

Phone Features

Opening the Browser

From the home screen, select [browser] Browser to launch the web browser. The Browser also opens when you open a web link, for example, in an email or text message.

  1. Open the Browser app.
  2. Select [menu] > Type URL to highlight the address box.
  3. Enter the address (URL) of a web page, or enter terms to search for.
  4. Press the Center Key to open the web page or search results.

Exiting the Browser

  1. Press the Left Soft Key for the browser menu.
  2. Press the Down Key on the 4-Way Navigation until Exit is highlighted.
  3. Press the Center Key to exit the browser.

Note: This phone does not have WiFi capabilities. Using the browser requires data usage. Fees may apply if you do not have a data plan.

Bluetooth

  1. From the home screen, select [settings] Settings > General settings > Bluetooth.
  2. If Bluetooth is off, press the Center Key to turn it on. Your phone will scan for and display the IDs of all available Bluetooth devices in range. Select [refresh] Refresh if you want to scan again.
  3. Select the device you want to pair with.
  4. If necessary, confirm that the Bluetooth passkeys are the same between the two devices and press the Center Key. Alternatively, enter a Bluetooth passkey and press the Center Key.

Pairing is successful when the other device accepts the connection or the same passkey is entered.

Note: The Bluetooth passkey may be fixed for certain devices, such as headsets and hands-free car kits. Try entering 0000 or 1234, or refer to the device's documentation.

Messaging

From the home screen, select [messages] Messages. The Messaging screen opens, allowing you to create a new message or open an existing thread.

Sending a Message

  1. On the Messaging screen, select [new message] > New message.
  2. Add recipients:
    • Select the 'To' field and manually enter the recipient's number or contact name. Select a suggestion if available.
    • Select the 'To' field and press the Center Key to select recipients from contacts, call history, or contact groups.
  3. Select the text box at the bottom and enter your message content.
  4. To send a multimedia message, select [attach] > Insert attach to add a photo or video.
  5. Press the Center Key or select SEND, then press the Center Key to send the message.

Making and Answering Calls

Placing a Call by Dialing

  1. Press the Power/End Key, then enter the phone number using the keypad. Press the Clear Key to delete incorrect digits.
  2. As you enter digits, your phone searches for matching contacts. If the desired contact appears, select it and press the Send Key to place the call immediately.
  3. Press the Send Key to dial the entered number.

Ending a Call

During a call, press the Power/End Key.

Answering Calls

Ending Calls (on-screen)

During a call, tap [end call] on the screen.
