APC Performance Surge Protector

Safety Precautions
- Do not install this device during a lightning storm.
- For indoor use only.
- Do not install the surge protector in a hot or excessively moist location.
- Do not use with aquarium equipment.
Installation
Follow these steps to install your surge protector:
- Plug the surge protector into a grounded outlet only.
- Plug the power cord from your electrical equipment into the surge protector outlets [outlet_group_symbol]. Verify the device to be protected operates correctly before plugging it into the surge protector.
- For PMF83VT series models, connect the supplied modular telephone cord between the telephone wall outlet and the surge protector jack [telephone_jack_symbol] marked . Connect another modular telephone cord between the surge protector jack [telephone_jack_symbol] marked and the telephone, modem, or fax machine.
- All PMF83VT series models provide coaxial connectors. Connect the supplied coaxial cable from the cable source to the connector [coaxial_connector_symbol] marked . Connect another coaxial cable from the connector [coaxial_connector_symbol] marked to the equipment to be protected (cable TV box, VCR, TV, cable modem).
- Press the Power switch [power_switch_symbol] to the "I" position.
Indicators and Controls
- Circuit Breaker [circuit_breaker_symbol]: When an output overload condition occurs, power automatically turns off, disconnecting all equipment. Unplug connected equipment, then press the circuit breaker to reset the surge protector.
- Surge Protection Indicator [surge_protection_indicator_symbol]: When the unit is plugged in and turned on, the green indicator illuminates to show the surge protector is capable of protecting equipment from harmful electrical surges. If the indicator does not illuminate, the unit is damaged and no longer protects equipment; return it according to Schneider Electric IT (SEIT) Technical Support instructions.
- Ground OK Indicator [ground_ok_indicator_symbol]: When the surge protector is plugged in and power is turned on, the green indicator illuminates to show that the power source outlet is properly grounded. If the indicator does not illuminate, there is a problem with the building wiring; consult a qualified electrician.
- Overload Indicator [overload_indicator_symbol]: If this indicator illuminates, disconnect devices until the indicator extinguishes.
- Cord Management Guide [cord_management_guide_symbol]: Keeps power cords connected to the unit neat and organized. It can also be wall mounted [wall_mount_symbol] with the surge protector.

Warranty and Protection Policies
Limited Warranty
SEIT warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service by the original owner for the lifetime of the product (in Germany, the period is 20 years from the purchase date). For units purchased and/or used in countries not belonging to the European Community, the warranty period is 2-5 years from the date of purchase. SEIT's obligation is limited to repairing or replacing defective products at its sole option. To obtain warranty service, a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number from SEIT or a SEIT Service Center is required. The product must be shipped prepaid with a brief problem description and proof of purchase. More details are available at www.apc.com.
Equipment Protection Policy
This policy covers damage to connected electronic equipment from power line transients (spikes and surges) when properly connected to an APC by Schneider Electric product. It is valid in EU member states, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. For coverage, the connected equipment must have a CE mark, and the installation must comply with all applicable electrical and safety codes. Claims must be made within 10 days of alleged damage. SEIT reserves the right to inspect the damaged equipment. Specific dollar and period limits apply, details available in the full policy document.
Data Recovery Policy
If data is lost from the hard drive in the protected computer due to a malfunction of a properly connected APC by Schneider Electric product, SEIT will provide data recovery services from Ontrack® data recovery labs, at its sole discretion. Recovery is not guaranteed. This policy applies to physical hard drives within protected computing equipment, excluding external storage devices. SEIT reserves the right to inspect the damaged equipment.
