Cruise Control
Cruise Control
Precautions: Always observe the following precautions:
- DO NOT use the speed control system in conditions where it is difficult to maintain a constant speed.
- DO NOT use the speed control system on winding or slippery roads, or in off-road conditions, such as driving over rough terrain or sand.
- If the cruise control system is engaged, it is not recommended to use Sport mode.
The speed control function (cruise control) allows the driver to maintain a constant driving speed without using the accelerator pedal. This is particularly effective on highways and on roads where it is possible to drive at a constant speed for a long time.
The buttons on the steering wheel operate as follows:
- CANCEL: Cancels without clearing the stored speed.
- RESUME: Resumes driving at the set speed.
- SET -: Sets speed (-) or decelerates.
- SET +: Sets speed (+) or accelerates.
Note: Cruise control functions are UNAVAILABLE if the LOW gear range is selected. Cruise control functions are also unavailable when the Terrain Response system is used and the program for driving through ruts, sand, or rocks is selected, and when the Hill Descent Control (HDC) system is engaged.
Engaging Cruise Control
Achieve the desired driving speed. This speed must be above the system's minimum operating speed, which is 30 km/h.
Press the switch + (4) to store the vehicle's driving speed in the system's memory. The cruise control system will maintain this speed.
The control lamp on the instrument panel will illuminate. ?
While the cruise control system is operating, you can increase speed (e.g., for overtaking) by simply pressing the accelerator pedal. After releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle will resume the previously set speed.
Note: If a speed is set in the cruise control system and the accelerator pedal is pressed for longer than 60 seconds, the cruise control will be deactivated.
Speed can be set and stored when the vehicle speed is below 30 km/h or the vehicle is stationary, provided the gear selector is in position D or N. When the vehicle speed exceeds 30 km/h, you can resume the set speed by pressing the resume button (2).
Pausing Cruise Control
The operation of the cruise control system can be paused by pressing the CANCEL button (1) once. The control lamp on the instrument panel will go out. ?
The cruise control system also pauses when the gear selector is moved to neutral, the brake pedal is pressed, or the HDC or DSC system is activated.
To resume cruise control operation at the previously set speed, press the RESUME button (2).
Note: The set speed is NOT erased when the CANCEL button (1) is pressed. The set speed is only erased when the ignition is turned to position 0 or the gear selector is moved to position R or P.
Reducing Set Speed
Press and hold the switch - (3); the vehicle's speed will decrease. Release the switch when the desired speed is reached. The speed at which the vehicle was traveling when the switch was released becomes the new set speed.
The stored speed can also be gradually reduced by lightly pressing the - (3) button. Each press of the button reduces the speed by 2 km/h.
Increasing Set Speed
Attention: When setting a speed limit for the cruise control system, it is important to remember that the vehicle's speed may increase when driving downhill. As a result, the vehicle's speed may exceed the speed limit.
The driver MUST maintain a safe speed that is below the speed limit and takes into account driving conditions and road conditions.
Press and hold the switch + (4); the vehicle's speed will increase. Release the switch when the desired speed is reached. The speed at which the vehicle was traveling when the switch was released becomes the new set speed.
The stored speed can also be gradually increased by lightly pressing the + (4) button. Each press of the button increases the speed by 2 km/h.
The driving speed can also be increased by simply pressing the accelerator pedal. When the desired speed is reached, press the + (4) switch to set the cruise control to that speed.
Note: If the accelerator pedal is pressed to gain speed, but the + (4) switch is not pressed, the cruise control will be deactivated after 60 seconds.
